For Trump, challenge of governing with
Dem House, but full speed ahead with GOP Senate

Washington Examiner, by Byron York

It took a while for President Trump to get used to working with the Republican-led Congress, but he developed a style of dealing with lawmakers that led to the passage of tax reform and a number of smaller measures. Now, though, with Democrats winning control of the House, Trump faces the challenge of working with an empowered opposition whose leaders are motivated by intense animus toward the president -- and who will have the ability to stop any Trump legislative initiatives cold. On the other hand, with the Republicans keeping and strengthening control

Under the "leadership" of Boehner/Ryan,I don´t see any real difference between then and now.
I expect President Trump to continue with the peoples agenda and not the swamp´s...

I agree with a previous LDotter´s analysis in that the Dims will overplay their hand so poorly in the next 2 years it will guarantee a Trump re-election. Hopefully the House will flip back too.

You can´t reason with a commie. It´s always their way or the highway. At least now, any particular RINO can´t be blamed for anything. Botox Nancy will completely own her freak show´s destruction.

Komper-kumper-kumpernick-stammering, botox-assisted, gavel-brandishing Pelosi is just what our side needs. Can we top "...you have to pass it to find out what´s in it"?

Kind of bittersweet but, I´ll take it. Could have been far worse. But, a strange outcome in an age of full employment, prosperity, and personal fulfillment. But, hate seemed to prevail to an extent.

Holding onto to the Senate was obviously critical. Taking Judicial away from the dims for a very long time was top priority. And hopefully another SCOTUS nomination will be at hand. Job done, despite an evil msm.

But, the House, what a disappointment. Yes, the dim attack ads worked, Soros´, Steyer´s, and Bloomberg´s money made a difference, and the lofo voter were swayed. Yes, the msm again influenced the outcome. The conservative resolve was certainly there, but, not enough of us. There was not enough willingness by the lofos to understand the serious trajectory the country is on.

Now it´s on to 2020. Over the next two years, you will see it all. Speaker Pelousi, Chairman Waters, Chairman Schiff, Chairman Cummings will see to it. It will be all there to enjoy.

Might I strongly suggest that we step it up now and commit the next two years to ignore the msm, educate the lofos, restore House control, continue to hold the Senate, and prepare to re-elect Donald J. Trump as President of the United States.

GOP Senate victories (and pickups) yesterday will last six years.

Democrat Congresscritter victories (and pickups) will last but two years.

And President Trump "has a pen and a phone".

Disappointing but expected. This was not the victory either Party was hoping for but the biggest blow for the Democrats was Florida. Socialism is not a winning ticket. That is the good news.

Console yourselves all you want, but this is catastrophic. Pelosi has made clear she will move to impeach our President. Sure, the Senate will never convict and remove; they didn´t do that to Klintoon either. But it will tie up and derail much of what could have been phase two of MAGA. When GW Bush won by the narrowest of margins in 2000, with evidence of cheating by the dimms, I thought: finally, something will be done to reduce vote fraud. But no. Then when PDJT had both houses of Congress, I thought SURELY now something will be done. But no. So now this. I am confident this election was crooked; all the others were.

POTUS should drag Ryan into the WH and Order him to work 7 days a week between now and new years to get his agenda done. Fund the Wall, Pass a Budget, more tax cuts, restore property tax deduction to blue states, and anything else he wants done.

This loss falls at the feet of Ryan and McConnell and all the RINO´s who decided not to run for re-election in the house. A pox on all of them!

The house Democrats are energized with two primary goals for the next election: get reelected and defeat their arch enemy President Trump. A corrupt Democratic congress aided by a corrupt news media will pursue Republicans with false charges of corruption in office, staged hearings, show trials, and perjury charges. Republicans they cannot falsely jail will be hounded out of office. Good people will not want to replace them. I fear America has dark times ahead. Dear God, please bless us in these dangerous times.

With the added GOP to the Senate, lets hope that 2 more Supreme Court judges retire and we can re-enforce the SC with Conservative Judges.

The Dems will Over Play their hand, They ALWAYS do. Pelosi is a walking freak show and she never makes any sense when she talks even the media can´t let it slide.

I´m not worried. We have the Senate and the Presidency.

How many of these lost seats were held by RINOs or never-trumpers? Could that be why some of them lost? As others have pointed out, apart from the tax cuts the pubbies in congress have not given Trump much of what he wants.

What if they had gone full steam ahead with a MAGA agenda? I guess we´ll never know.

I agree that the Republicans in the House need to get that Wall funded before the end of the year. Unfortunately, Ryan won´t be any help at all to do that! I think Democrats are so filled with Hate they will spend the next two years trying to get revenge on Trump instead of using their time to pass laws and get things done. Voters will get tired of that and in the end, Dems will lose the House again in 2020! The Senate is now going to be able to do things without Two Ladies calling the shots. They now have no leverage! Unfortunately, Romney will be a problem!

Actually, I kind of hope that the dims impeach Trump.....they have a marked tendency to overplay their hands, and just because they impeach doesn´t guarantee conviction in the Senate, especially with the pick up of the seats the GOP has gotten.
And let´s go back to the Project Veritas video of Gillams´s campaign, and the campaign manager´s "fairy tale beginning" of "Once we´re elected"--the dims can´t pass anything into law without the Senate also passing it, so the tax cuts are safe, and the wall that the RINOs wouldn´t pass, still won´t and any attempt to nullify Trump´s first two years won´t go anywhere as well.
What we get with a stronger Senate is Trump´s cabinet appointments and SCOTUS picks more safely secured.
Actually, the dims will overplay their hand to the point that they assist a Trump re-election, and help ensure their loss of the House in two years.

Is it possible to force Ryan to resign immediately and then put in Jim Jordan as Speaker until January 2019? He could push through the people’s agenda. After all, we voted for it and Ryan ignored and obstructed it in any way he could. Why let him just hang on and do nothing. I know I am grasping at straws but if we don’t get this immigration crisis settled before January, nothing will get done in the next two years. Do you have any idea how many “migrants” will rush the border? It won’t matter what happens then. The democrats will have their voter base reinforced.

Miss Nancy talked about bipartisanship, which means she still needs some GOP support to pass around the NO vote on contentious issues. We will now see if Hillarys promise of a return to civility when the RATS control part of the government applies. It was going to be tough to keep the house with so many deadwood GOP retirements but at least the fewer members will be more serious, and build for the future with commitment to principle.

Tell me why the Republicans cannot pass all sorts of ready to pass legislation before Jan 3? They have the power right now to do it; they have the incentive given at least the possibility that they may not have this opportunity for a long time. They can and should prove they are willing to finally do what they said they would do back in the Tea Party days when they were in the minority. Trump is ready to sign Obamacare elimination, border wall appropriation, swamp elimination legislation and the list is long and ready, so just do it now. We have the power still. Use it. Regardless, it certainly could have been worse and considering the 100% negative msm coverage of Trump, I think we did remarkably well.

My main concern about the House is the composition of it, that there is an increasing number of socialist, radical, even now a couple of (so it appears) radical-bent Muslims, on the Dem side.

We can deal with liberal-leaning politicians, IF they are Patriotic, loyal Americans who have sworn, according to the Oath, to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America.

If you are under sharia, you can NOT swear allegiance to any other entity other than sharia.

So we also need to focus attention on States which have gone Blue, such as NH, even though we still have a Republican Governor, and Maine, these two in particular.

They are roadmaps for Texas and Florida and Arizona and a few others, encroaching on the center, the Heartland.

This is how socialism can overtake our Republic, and fast. All the while, ignorant people are inviting this rapacious ideology in through their front door, the Big Bad Wolf, dressed like a generous old Granny... but she´s got poisoned apples in her basket.

Ask a person who thinks socialism is good, why every socialist country collapses rapidly, and why they never fully, or ever, recover, and why most of those regimes resort to violence to maintain power?

And if you don´t think it can happen here, you´re naive The "fundamental transformation" was begun openly by BO. These people do not intend to back off.

Everybody knew. Everybody of consequence at the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Justice Department understood fully in the middle of 2016—as the FBI embarked on its counterintelligence probe of Donald Trump—that it was doing so based on disinformation provided by Hillary Clinton’s campaign. That’s the big revelation from the transcript of the testimony Justice Department official Bruce Ohr gave Congress in August. The transcripts haven’t been released, but parts were confirmed for me by congressional sources. Mr. Ohr testified that he sat down with dossier author Christopher Steele on July 30, 2016, and received salacious information

The red wolf was declared extinct in the wild in 1980, and while forty or so red wolves were captured, bred in captivity, and reintroduced into the wild in North Carolina in 1990, there have been mysterious unconfirmed reports of red wolf sightings scattered along the Texas Gulf Coast for decades. Those sightings were typically dismissed—scientists were certain coyotes were being mistaken for the elusive wolf. But now there’s some evidence indicating that red wolves may actually have a genetic presence along the coast in Texas. It all began with some roadkill.

In the daily headlines, the government shutdown—now the longest in American history—is reported as a clash between two uncompromising forces: President Trump and Speaker Nancy Pelosi. In this battle, however, the most important general may be the one who’s escaped almost all notice. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has put on full display his penchant for knowing when the best course is to do nothing. In the received wisdom, because Mr. Trump infamously welcomed a shutdown in December’s televised and contentious Oval Office meeting with Mrs. Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, he gets all the blame for it.

Willie Nelson’s list of musical collaborators is essentially a timeline of popular music. Frank Sinatra? Wynton Marsalis? Ray Charles? Julio Iglesias? Check, check, check, check. Norah Jones, Kacey Musgraves, Chris Stapleton, even Snoop Dogg? Yep. Basically every country star who ever passed through Nashville and stopped off in Texas? Of course. Yet somehow, during the course of his illustrious and highly collaborative career, there’s one epic name that Willie hadn’t added to his list: King George Strait, his fellow Texan great, whose stature rivals Willie’s when it comes to the names that have defined country music.

The Obama-era policy of integrating women into ground combat units is a misguided social experiment that threatens military readiness and wastes resources in the service of a political agenda. The next defense secretary should end it. In September 2015 the Marine Corps released a study comparing the performance of gender-integrated and male-only infantry units in simulated combat. The all-male teams greatly outperformed the integrated teams, whether on shooting, surmounting obstacles or evacuating casualties. Female Marines were injured at more than six times the rate of men during preliminary training—unsurprising, since men’s higher testosterone levels produce stronger bones and muscles.

Whittington has some personal stake in the movie because he’s in the movie. He’s the local man who was shot by Cheney in a 2006 South Texas quail hunting accident. It’s a scene in the movie, and now that Whittington has seen the scene, he’s even more convinced it’s inaccurate.

That style, which features picks attached to the thumb, index finger and middle finger, has become a defining characteristic of bluegrass music and the most popular style of playing banjo in the genre. President Trump on Thursday abruptly denied military aircraft to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for a foreign trip just minutes before the congressional delegation was set to depart, in a stunning response to her call to delay the State of the Union address amid the government shutdown. In a curt letter, Trump said her trip has been “postponed.” “Due to the Shutdown, I am sorry to inform you that your trip to Brussels, Egypt, and Afghanistan has been postponed. We will reschedule this seven-day excursion when the Shutdown is over. In light of the 800,000 great American workers not receiving pay,

PASCAGOULA, Miss.— A Mississippi man in declining health is telling a story he’s kept secret from his own family for 45 years: he claims he was abducted by aliens. Calvin Parker says he and his buddy Charles Hickson were fishing in 1973 on the banks of the Pascagoula River, just north of where Ingalls Shipyard now sits, when a “real bright beam appeared all over us and it kind of blinded me for a second and when I got my vision back, I seen three bulky looking creatures coming toward us.” Parker said the creatures were “probably 4, 4 1/2, 5 foot tall…built like football players. But I noticed they kind of moved mechanical wise

In the past two months, Ruth Bader Ginsburg has fractured three ribs and had two cancerous nodules removed from her left lung. She was absent from oral argument last week and will miss this week’s arguments as well. Doctors say they expect her to be back on the bench in February, and until then she will review transcripts from her home and participate in the court’s decision-making remotely. But her return to work has not quieted critics who say that Ginsburg should have retired long ago and that her health issues are the latest evidence that justices should not be

WASHINGTON—House Speaker Nancy Pelosi told reporters Wednesday night she “doesn’t care” if the Secret Service said it was prepared to appropriately secure the State of the Union address despite the partial government shutdown. Instead, she stood firm in her resolve to delay the January 29 event until the government completely re-opens. (Photo) In a letter to President Trump, Pelosi claimed the lack of funds to Homeland Security posed a risk to the White House and the Congress during the event, but the Department of Homeland Security Sec. Kirstjen Nielsen released a statement refuting that. She shared that statement in a

It’s tough to tell. Does this make the shutdown a bug … or a feature? Nancy Pelosi has asked Donald Trump to put off his State of the Union speech to the joint session of Congress until after the funding issues have been resolved: (Copy of Letter/Tweet) And with that, the new Speaker of the House just made the best case possible for a perpetual shutdown. Kidding! What I meant to say was that Nancy Pelosi has finally sounded a note of wisdom, at least in her reminder that presidents used to just deliver a report in writing to Congress.

An ESPN host suggested Wednesday it was racist for President Donald Trump to serve fast food to the Clemson football team at the White House, saying such food being given to players of a "predominately black sport" gave her pause. (Snip)While the players appeared to enjoy the food, some political and sports observers took Trump to task for what they considered a low-class gesture. On the daily ESPN debate show "First Take," panelists Stephen A. Smith and Max Kellerman discussed the matter, with Smith saying it was a "classless" and "disgraceful" move by Trump.

Domnio’s Pizza has been legally required to makes its app and website fully accessible to the visually impaired following a years-long legal battle with a blind customer who was left unable to order a pie with personalized toppings through his iPhone. Guillermo Robles in a lawsuit filed back in September 2016 first accused the popular pizza chain of violating the Americans with Disabilities Act “for its failure to design, construct, maintain, and operate its website to be fully accessible and independently usable” for those who are blind. The Americans with Disabilities Act, made law in 1990, says it is unlawful

Former Rep. Beto O’Rourke recently questioned the modern-day relevance of the U.S. Constitution and whether the country should still be governed by “the same principles that were set down 230-plus years ago.” “I think that’s the question of the moment: Does this still work?” Mr. O’Rourke asked during a taped conversation with two friends, which he aired to thousands in response to President Trump’s Oval Office address to the American people about the border wall, The Washington Post reported Tuesday. “Can an empire like ours with military presence in over 170 countries around the globe, with trading relationships
