Beto O´Rourke’s loss to Ted Cruz is a heartwarming
reminder that money can’t buy elections

Washington Times, by Becket Adams

Original Article

Democratic candidate Beto O’Rourke’s Senate campaign crashed harder Tuesday evening than a speeding Volvo driven by a drunk judge’s son. Glum-faced news anchors have called the Texas Senate race for incumbent Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas. By 10:40 pm EST, the Republican held a 3.3-point lead with 38 percent of precincts reporting, ending one of the most expensive elections in American history. Cruz raised $40 million in this election cycle and spent roughly $33.8 million, according to the Center for Respective Politics. If you think that’s a lot, it’s not much compared to O’Rourke’s haul.

I was about to say that after raising $69 million Beto should at least get a "participation trophy", but since he pocketed $10 million of that, I withdraw that thought.

Anyhow, that is a lot of cash flushed down the toilet for the democrat donors. I love it!

And the best part was his classy concession speech..."I´m so f***ing proud of you," Democrats sure love their potty-mouthed rock stars. Oh well, they still have Occasional Cortex.

BS. If money didn´t buy elections, the crooks running wouldn´t actively court the "donors", and wouldn´t later make laws to benefit them. We have got to face the reality that we are subjects in a uniparty kleptocracy.

Congratulations to Senator Cruz - he prevailed despite all of the free publicity and encouragement given Beto O´Rourke by every broadcasting and publishing outlet and by the owners and contributors of social media. Also, even the semi-truckloads of cash donated by celebrities and socialist interlopers weren´t enough to tip the election.

Again, congratulations to Senator Cruz and to Texas.

Even though he lost, the downstream damage he wrought by luring dreamy-eyed libs to the polls here in Harris County means their straight-ticket voting turned out all Republican judges. Even popular, effective Judge Ed Emmet lost to a 27 yo Spanish-English medical interpreter born in Colombia. Oh, she has no court experience.

Money didn´t buy Beto´s election, but it bought a whole lot of others.

Outside money JUST ALMOST bought the election.

So did all the slobbering FREE media coverage and propaganda stories cycled ad infinitum about how likable O´Rourke was and how Senator Cruz was mean and hateful.

The really SCARY part is that media fluffing of O´Rourke throughout the process ALMOST held sway over RATIONAL THOUGHT by those who voted for him.

Surely, TEXANS would not support open borders, higher taxes, gun control, late-term abortions, and the like of the Socialist agenda.

The gullible went for the "likability" theme, in which like Nobama, they never REALLY knew who "Beto´ actually was until AFTER it was too late, and it really didn´t seem to matter--only being ´hip´ and some how ´smarter´ than those evil people supported traditional TEXAS values.

Cruz was very wise to jump on the Trump train. His feelings about the Great Orange One appear to have evolved and Texans appear to approve. Never-Trumpers had a bad night and will have an even tougher time in 2020 when Trump is on the ballot. Better recruitment of attractive House candidates has to be a priority for the GOP going forward. They will not always be so lucky in choice of opponents as getting to face “F-bomb” O’Rourke and his elitist cronies. Anyway, nice win for Cruz who is starting to look a lot more Presidential. 2024?

Ever the gentleman and class act "Beto" ... a childhood nickname for "Roberto" ... conceded to Cruz with several f-bombs.

For anyone who doesn´t think that the Dems want illegal aliens in this country to turn elections, look no further than the poster above (#6) and the too-close elections in Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Montana, etc. All swung by the Hispanic votes, many, no doubt, voting illegally.

Don´t forget Bloomberg. Information I heard on the radio just now 970 AM Joe Piscopo´s show interviewing a local NY assemblyman was that Bloomie poured money into network TV and their digital channels which can influence all the cord cutters who are low info. This crosses the full tri state area. You and I may not watch these channels but a lot of people, including older people do, and these spots were all Trump scare spots.

Bloomie is another rich socialist we or a higher power needs to crush.

Ted Cruz is my guy so the win is great.

There are, however, two very important lessons from this race.

1. The fact that it was this close - in Texas! - should scare the pants off of us all. It should have been around 10%.

2. There could not be a clearer example of the need to undo the progressives greatest success in their century long campaign to free the federal government from the "chains" of that pesky old Constitution:

We desperately need to mount a campaign to repeal the 17th Amendment. Without it senate races would not be polluted by floods of money from other states. The founders intended for states to each pick their senators. They were right.

#15, Cruz did not "jump" on the Trump train. He and Trump were both going against entrenched GOP politicians when they ran against each other in the primary. They were riding on the same train. One of my big disappointments about Trump is the way he chose to defame Cruz as "Lying Ted." That very thing almost cost us one of the strongest Constitutionalist in Congress.

Agree with others here. A Cruz win by only 2.6% is scary. Looking at the Texas elections map, Beto carried all the usual suspects; i.e., the big liberal urban areas. The only contest was Tarrant County/Ft. Worth but Beto still won there. I´ve said it before. If conservatives think Texas is a Red beacon, I´ve got news for you - it ain´t all that. Texas is in the top five states running a huge deficit, the educrats are firmly in control, and the Lt. Gov.(R), who nominally sets the agenda for the legislature is a dunce. The bad guys are going after the low hanging fruit in the local and state races, so the fight goes on.

The steady drip-drip-drip of anchor babies given citizenship when their illegal alien parents manage to get the pregnant mom over the border in time, means that the country´s demographics are steadily shifting in favor of the Giveaway Party. Ignorant, unAmerican, in many cases, antiAmerican, illegal aliens and their kids are turning the tide in Texas.

If the Dems finally get Texas as a reliable Dem state, that adds 38 to the Dem column. They have California (55), NY (29), and Illinois (20) in the bag. With Texas that is 142 electoral college votes from 4 states, over half of the 270 to win.

The plan to import millions and millions of foreign lower class folks, looking for handouts, and anxious to vote for more of them, is working perfectly for the Dems.

A glance over at CA, and you can see that in Hispanic dense regions, there are no Anglos elected. Feinstein had a bit of a scare in the primaries. She´ll no doubt be retired and maybe on to meet her Maker after this term. I doubt she could win again (even if she were 20 years younger).

Oregon and Washington are going that way, turning into lawless States, filling up with anarchists and illegals finding sanctuary there.

How utterly suicidal!

I totally agree #20.

And yes, money DOES buy elections. Or gets very close. So does massive illegal immigration and fraud. The DemonRATS are slowly boiling us alive. Notice that even though the election map looks extremely red, the left has a strong hold on all the major urban areas where the population is concentrated. They are using that advantage to leverage all the other non-Democrat controlled areas to flip them. It´s working too.

Everybody knew. Everybody of consequence at the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Justice Department understood fully in the middle of 2016—as the FBI embarked on its counterintelligence probe of Donald Trump—that it was doing so based on disinformation provided by Hillary Clinton’s campaign. That’s the big revelation from the transcript of the testimony Justice Department official Bruce Ohr gave Congress in August. The transcripts haven’t been released, but parts were confirmed for me by congressional sources. Mr. Ohr testified that he sat down with dossier author Christopher Steele on July 30, 2016, and received salacious information

The red wolf was declared extinct in the wild in 1980, and while forty or so red wolves were captured, bred in captivity, and reintroduced into the wild in North Carolina in 1990, there have been mysterious unconfirmed reports of red wolf sightings scattered along the Texas Gulf Coast for decades. Those sightings were typically dismissed—scientists were certain coyotes were being mistaken for the elusive wolf. But now there’s some evidence indicating that red wolves may actually have a genetic presence along the coast in Texas. It all began with some roadkill.

In the daily headlines, the government shutdown—now the longest in American history—is reported as a clash between two uncompromising forces: President Trump and Speaker Nancy Pelosi. In this battle, however, the most important general may be the one who’s escaped almost all notice. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has put on full display his penchant for knowing when the best course is to do nothing. In the received wisdom, because Mr. Trump infamously welcomed a shutdown in December’s televised and contentious Oval Office meeting with Mrs. Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, he gets all the blame for it.

Willie Nelson’s list of musical collaborators is essentially a timeline of popular music. Frank Sinatra? Wynton Marsalis? Ray Charles? Julio Iglesias? Check, check, check, check. Norah Jones, Kacey Musgraves, Chris Stapleton, even Snoop Dogg? Yep. Basically every country star who ever passed through Nashville and stopped off in Texas? Of course. Yet somehow, during the course of his illustrious and highly collaborative career, there’s one epic name that Willie hadn’t added to his list: King George Strait, his fellow Texan great, whose stature rivals Willie’s when it comes to the names that have defined country music.

The Obama-era policy of integrating women into ground combat units is a misguided social experiment that threatens military readiness and wastes resources in the service of a political agenda. The next defense secretary should end it. In September 2015 the Marine Corps released a study comparing the performance of gender-integrated and male-only infantry units in simulated combat. The all-male teams greatly outperformed the integrated teams, whether on shooting, surmounting obstacles or evacuating casualties. Female Marines were injured at more than six times the rate of men during preliminary training—unsurprising, since men’s higher testosterone levels produce stronger bones and muscles.

Kirstjen Nielsen released a statement refuting that. She shared that statement in a

Gillette is doubling down on a controversial new campaign that appears aimed at taking on so-called toxic masculinity — but has created a social media firestorm. The two-minute video from Boston-based razor brand Gillette urges men to act against sexual harassment, misogyny and bullying, asking: “Is this the best a man can get?” While fans are applauding the move, critics say it assumes men need to be steered away from negative tendencies. Domnio’s Pizza has been legally required to makes its app and website fully accessible to the visually impaired following a years-long legal battle with a blind customer who was left unable to order a pie with personalized toppings through his iPhone. Guillermo Robles in a lawsuit filed back in September 2016 first accused the popular pizza chain of violating the Americans with Disabilities Act “for its failure to design, construct, maintain, and operate its website to be fully accessible and independently usable” for those who are blind. The Americans with Disabilities Act, made law in 1990, says it is unlawful

In the latest NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll released Thursday, President Donald Trump may have suffered some among Republicans overall, but he saw a huge point gain in a different demographic breakdown, and an unexpected one by conventional wisdom. In early December, the poll had Trump’s approval rating among Latino adults at 31%. The results from the poll released Thursday show the president’s job approval among Latino adults at 50%. That is an astonishing 19 point swing. Prior results had less variance, with Latino approval numbers at 36% in their November 1st findings. It was 27% in the pollster’s mid-October survey.
