Turkey’s president expected to deliver
speech describing how Khashoggi was killed

Washington Post, by Kareem Fahim

ISTANBUL — President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was expected to divulge details of Turkey’s investigation into the death of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi for the first time on Tuesday, in a highly anticipated speech he had said would reveal the “naked truth” about Khashoggi’s fate. Since Khashoggi’s death three weeks ago after entering the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, the governments of Saudi Arabia and Turkey have offered sharply differing versions of what happened to him. The Saudi story has shifted dramatically over time, from assertions he walked out of the consulate unharmed to finally acknowledging Khashoggi

Erdogan might have autocratic tendencies but he´s also popular in his country and has won election after election. He´s milking this murder and gaining capital at home and abroad by exposing the Saudi officials for what they are - a reprehensible group of thugs. This is not the first time the Saudis have been involved in this sort of thing.

The hard truth about the Arab world is that you either pick which brutal regime to align with or align with none.

Is it in our or the world´s best interest to pull out all together? Frankly I wish we never let ourselves be as dependent on Saudi Arabia as we became.

This will always be fertile ground for criticism regardless of what decisions are made.

We know how Saudi Arabia killed 15 school girls in 2002. They were forced back into a burning building to burn to death because they ran out into the the street without wearing Islamic headscarves and black robes. (An atrocity that Khashoggi and bin Laden fully supported). Khashoggi was trying to overthrow the Crown for allowing women to drive and relaxing this kind of barbaric insanity. He was a traitor to Saudi Arabia and was executed on Saudi Arabian territory where Turkish law does not apply. (Turkish law allows for execution of traitors as well). How they went about it, who cares? Did they burn him to death in a school fire? I see the Left cares far more about this sleeve than those poor girls.

Our soldiers have been killed in the Middle East since Sept. 11, 2001 trying to bring these people into the civilized world. It hasn´t worked yet. People can not skip years of natural development and suddenly jump ahead twenty centuries in civilization. We have enough problems with that concept right here, we should understand it.

This person stays in the headlines because of his relationship with the Washington Post. That is not a credit to anybody so let´s forget about him and take care of our own. He went back there on purpose and he paid the price.

Khashoggi was not a reporter. He was a viscous antisemite, Iran-supporting, member of the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood from a family deeply involved in weapons smuggling.

I don’t care if they fed him alive to pigs.

Just how did Ron Brown´s plane fall out of the sky; Vince Foster and Seth Rich; could they give us the "naked truth" about all those "fellow human beings",(3,040 terrorists and 391 civilians, according to NY Times), Obama had targeted and blown to tiny bits?

I´m not at all in liking with a Muslim despot like Erdogan turning the international world of politics and economics into a "Game of Thrones" episode.

Yes, he probably has the Saudis by the short hairs for now. But, that is due to the Saudis behaving like idiots. Turkey is not at all in a financial position or a EU position or in any position to behave this way. Erdogan is counting to fellow strongman, Donald trump, to behave badly, too. Trump is not at all inclined to play that game. You can bet, there is a back room decision being made, probably as we write, to bring Erdogan down to his proper size. He may have actually set a lion´s tail on fire and is about to find out he simply did not really have the smarts or the cajones to play that game.

With his investiture ceremony Thursday, Brett Kavanaugh is finally, formally Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. But the fight over his nomination goes on. The battle is not being fought by Democratic dead-enders who cannot accept that Kavanaugh won confirmation despite the sexual misconduct allegations against him. Instead, the fight is being led by Sen. Charles Grassley, the Republican chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, who is still angry at the way those unverified and in some cases evidence-free allegations sidetracked his committee´s work, and nearly the nomination itself.

A talking point has taken hold in the final hours of midterm election campaigning. The economy is booming, the story goes, but President Trump won´t talk about it at his massive rallies, preferring instead to dwell on illegal immigration, the caravan, and "fear." Republicans, locked in tough re-election races, are tearing their hair out, panicked, at Trump´s refusal to emphasize the nation´s economic progress, which is their strongest campaign pitch.
