Ted Cruz allies double down, energized
by O’Rourke’s mountain of cash

Houston Chronicle, by Dave Montgomery

Since storming into Texas politics six years ago, Ted Cruz has drawn national attention as a political giant killer, tea party champion, Senate firebrand and Donald Trump’s last rival in the battle for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination. Now, with the approach of the 2018 mid-term elections, the junior senator from Texas is cast in yet another role — that of a threatened incumbent. In a race that was initially expected to easily return Cruz to another six years in the Senate, he instead finds himself under attack from a popular Democratic challenger who has raised a jaw-dropping

No complacency here. The Cruz campaign is going to battle for every last vote even if polls show he is favored.

This is all just horse puckey. It’s the latest spin. “Oh, yeah, Cruz might win, but he should be winning by MORE. He should win EASILY. It shouldn’t be this CLOSE.” Blah, blah, blah. First of all, I refuse to accept any polling premise. Not one. Second, you’ve got every bad actor, including Satan Soros himself, throwing everything but the kitchen sink at this election. A more apt premise is the Hounds of Hell have been unleashed, and Ted Cruz is still ahead. What amazes me is that so many on the right fall for this garbage.

Palm Beach County’s race to recount votes is heating up — literally. The county’s decade-old ballot-counting machines overheated and gave incorrect totals, forcing the county to restart its recount of about 175,000 early votes, supervisor of Elections Susan Bucher said Tuesday night. The department has flown in mechanics to repair the machines. “We’re disappointed by the mechanical problems that are going to cause a further delay in the recount,” Bucher told reporters. “It became evident through the vigorous pace of counting that the machines used for the recount were starting to get stressed.” The malfunctions resulted in the loss of
