The Electoral College Debate
Daily Wire, by Walter E. Williams

Original Article

Democratic socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, seeking to represent New York´s 14th Congressional District, has called for the abolition of the Electoral College. Her argument came on the heels of the Senate´s confirming Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. She was lamenting the fact that Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Samuel Alito, nominated by George W. Bush, and Justices Neil Gorsuch and Kavanaugh, nominated by Donald Trump, were court appointments made by presidents who lost the popular vote but won the Electoral College vote. Hillary Clinton has long been a critic of the Electoral College. Just recently, she wrote in The

All she has to do is convince the legislatures of 38 states that they want to let New York and California pick the President. Simple.

Last time I checked the Constitution allows itself to be changed with Amendments. As far as I know. not one Democrat has taken up the arduous task of actually changing the Constitution. Whiny Twitter messages are the most they are willing to do.

And the sad thing is she will win because she identifies with democrats even though she is a hard core socialist. I hear lots of people are leaving Venezuela plenty of room down there for her.

just curious whether she thinks United Nations should also be reorganized so General Assembly no longer gives one vote to every nation no matter how small? Once she begins to "think" that over, next question about representation of big populations would be, should captive nations that cannot really vote for their own leadership, such as China, get representation according to the number of people? Or would we weight that down, since a smaller group of people make the real decisions and benefit by them? Such as we might make it 3/5 for people not allowed to vote? "Think" Alexandria. "Think"

In the Constitution as originally adopted, the following methods were instituted for the selection of Federal offices...

1. House of Representatives - elected by COMMON vote. These were to be the voice of the PEOPLE.

2. Senate - to be chosen by whatever method each state wanted to use. These were to be the voice of REASON. NOT to be chosen by popular vote.

3. President - chosen by the Electoral College which, like the Senate, could be chosen however the states wanted. NOT to be chosen by popular vote.

4. Judiciary - by appointment with the advise and consent role of the Senate.

The 17th Amendment has already bastardized the Senate into just another voice of the PEOPLE, but with different rules. Look back on when spending went off the rails and you will see it started right about then the MOB got control of the Senate.

IF the Electoral College is removed, it would take another Amendment and, if this were to succeed, the United States of America starts to head into chaos at an accelerating rate. This would effectively mean that EVERY office is now filled at the behest of the clueless populace.

If the Senate and President are chosen by popular vote, then eventually the Judiciary will follow suit indirectly.

I have stated this many times here...

STOP USING THE TERM DEMOCRACY when you talk about the United States. Conservatives should ALWAYS speak of a Republic and NEVER use the term Democracy. NEVER. Half the battle is lost when you use that word.

What they actually highlight, is the disenfranchising of winner-take-all allocation.

We need is proportional allocation of EC votes based on the winner in each House district.
Then, allocate each Senate EC vote according to how that Senator determines - likely by partisan vote.

So, states like California would have their Republican House districts, if they voted that way in the presidential election, allocated accordingly instead of having those people´s votes disenfranchised because the state determined it should be winner-take-all.

There should be a very strong case in the Courts to ensure all states allocate proportionally.

First they promote decades of illegal aliens invading our country. Next is Motor Voter registration of illegal aliens so they can vote as demoncrats. They they agitate for doing away with the Electoral College so that the millions of aliens vote with them to elect the President by the Popular Vote. What a plan!

There is no debate. The Electoral College is part of our Constitution and should definitely be retained. Otherwise every Presidential election would be determined by the states with large populations and millions of illegal aliens.
