Tens of thousands of defrauded students
could have their loans cancelled

A judge ruled Tuesday that an Obama-era set of consumer protections for defrauded students will go into effect immediately, after repeated attempts by the Trump administration and the for-profit college sector to delay the regulation. "Today´s decision is a huge win for defrauded borrowers around the country," said Julie Murray, an attorney at Public Citizen Litigation Group. "The rule is finally in effect. No more excuses. No more delays." Judge Randolph D. Moss, a federal judge in Washington, D.C., denied on Tuesday a for-profit college industry group´s request to postpone the rule. That comes after Moss ruled last month

Every student who went to a ´for profit´ school can claim to be defrauded. And does anyone believe other colleges are not making a profit om $20K-$40K tuition fees?

fta: "In 2016, the Obama administration announced the regulation aimed at canceling the debt of those with degrees from schools that misled or deceived them."

How were they misled or deceived? The article does not explain this predatory lending other than some school closed during or after degrees were given out. It´s an Obama regulation and an Obama appointed judge who upheld it so there has to be more to this that we are not being told.

These vocational schools are providing necessary training for actual jobs. Many colleges and universities offer totally worthless degrees and leave students with a much larger debt than vocational school students.

This is fundamentally wrong. Expect Tsunami of LOSER students demanding their Title IV student loans to be forgiven. Overwhelming demand will force the agency to process request without vetting or scrutinizing each loans. Situation will be absolutely chaotic and brutal. ....and maybe this is what Doorknob Hussein wanted. A vote getter for the coming elections. Timing is perfect!

1) I do not understand how the schools were defrauding the students. If they were telling them they will get a high paying job with a liberal arts social justice degree, I would call that fraud.

2) If the school defrauded the students then the school should pay back the loan. The article made no mention of who pays back the loan!!

I suspect I know who, the taxpayer. These kids need to go to technical and vocational schools and learn a skill they can make a good living on and they should be working their way through.

Many schools took on students who had no hope of completing the classwork, took their student loans and then failed them. It is all about getting "bums in seats" irrespective of ability. Still happening in schools today. This what happens when the administrator "corps" runs the school rather than educators.

Then, layer on top of this, the ´rats favorite rapist, Long Dong Bill, made student debt non-dischargeable in bankruptcy. Wonder hoe much he got from the bankers for this little gem?

Much of this problem is a result of social-justice/political measures rather than concern for true educational and/or training goals. Accreditation bodies used to have legitimate goals and compliance teeth. Expenditures of federal money on post-secondary education and training worked fairly well when the major spigot was the "GI Bill" in its various forms. The downhill slide pretty much began with application of the GI Bill to for-profit schools...many years ago. Accrediting bodies increased in number. Many of the newer accrediting bodies were a joke. Today, if I were clever enough, I probably could get an accrediting agency to approve of my correspondence "degree" specifically for left-handed barbers, with allowances of course, for all of the special groups not meeting the stated requirements. Dispensing of federal funds for post-secondary education and training is today in many ways much like feeding hogs.

Bingo to #12. I knew many students who were not much more than seat warmers but they are not owed any money because we already paid for four years of Party 101. If anybody was defrauded by schools it was Barack and Michelle. Their schools told them that they were important and could be somebody.

What they really told Barack was that he was impotent and Michelle could be somebody else instead of Michael. Now that´s fraud.

#2, My own kids (and I have more than a few) have attended "government" universities and private universities. The private ones, besides being outrageously expensive, were the ones where the brainwashing occurred. The public universities were no nonsense and provided the best career services departments. My advice: if you want to go to college, go to an in-state public university, at least for undergrad, and pick a useful major. Additionally take advantage of the arts offered at a big school.

As a mental health social worker, I have met several college students who were not capable of successfully completing a class, let alone a degree. They were just strung along with student loans, and right before graduation, the college would find a reason to not graduate them. So then they were left with no degree and lots of student debt. There should be something that protects people from predatory behavior like this from colleges.

Typical of most leftist propaganda organs, they refuse to give much detail of the "free money" program, which is infuriating. But, from the article:
"In 2016, the Obama administration announced the regulation aimed at canceling the debt of those with degrees from schools that misled or deceived them."

So, does this mean they paid for the "car" with taxpayer money, discovered it was a "Yugo" and not a "Porsche" refused to make payments on it, so now the "bank" (taxpayers) are stiffed with a Sons of a Barack out driving his "Yugo," till it drops. What´s next, free insurance, repairs, and gas for life too?

Bad decisions have consequences. These Sons of a Barack couldn´t get into any "normal" Colleges and Universities, so they instead opted for the "shortcut" and went to a "Highway College," believing the lie that a degree in "Medical Technology" is just as good as a "Registered Nurse."

Once again, Democrats throw down to protect their fools for whom being parted from other peoples´ money is a normal occurrence.

I believe President Trump can´t lift a finger on this matter, because of his "Trump University" and its fallout. I hope I´m wrong and he can correct this wrong-headed judge legislating from the bench.

Imagine that. The government takes over the student loan programs, hires Uncle Bob´s or Cousin Janet´s student loan company, both of whom are relatives of Democrats and give heartily to the DNC and local Dem candidates, then unscrupulous schools see the free sugar teet money, hike their prices to the moon (for Rio Lindans, when things are free or loans are easy to get, the demand for those things go up, hence prices go up, it´s called supply and demand and has been around yet ignored by Americans for decades) and promise all kinds of job opportunities in video gaming, "general" management (whatever the hell that means), etc. After the students get their education and find out that a motel manager at the Super 8 in Aberdeen, South Dakota doesn´t quite pay enough, they claim fraud and get their loans wiped clean. The schools, who also gave heartily to the Marxists get their jack. The loan companies, some legit, most illegit, still get their Uncle Sugar teet loan guarantees paid off by YOU. Who the hell saw that coming? It´s a damn good thing governments are involved where they shouldn´t be or else there´d be 20 billion a year in Medicare fraud or you wouldn´t get to keep your doctor or your plan. Oh, wait...

Obama´s takeover of the college loan industry was illegal to begin with. That should be reverse. The borrower defense rule, as described by the left, is also a fraud. The loan is between the student and the government, a contract separate from the student´s choice of schools. If the student has a cause of action against the school for non-performance, the student needs to sue the school. As for the student´s loan, the student needs to pay the loan. The loan contract, nor the law, does not provide protection against unspecified risks of school selection by the student.

This would allow moderate Republicans to reclaim their party’s mantle and unroot alt-right influences. But would Romney do it? His willingness to unequivocally challenge Trump could be seen either as a pro or con by Republicans, depending on their opinions of the sitting president.

How do you ask a man to be the last man to die for a mistake?” There is the shock of dark, Beatles-inspired hair, the distinctly British-tinged accent. Above all, there is the self-possession. Even though, as he describes it in his new book, Every Day Is Extra,

Championing the cause of the poor, Pope Francis on Sunday lamented that "the wealthy few" enjoy what, "in justice, belongs to all" and said Christians cannot remain indifferent to the growing cries of the exploited and the indigent, including migrants. Francis invited about 6,000 poor people as well as some of the volunteers who help them to the splendor of St. Peter´s Basilica where he celebrated Mass on a day the Catholic Church dedicates to the needy. Later, he sat down with 1,500 of the indigent for a lunch of lasagna, chicken, mashed potatoes and tiramisu in a Vatican auditorium.

Broward County’s ballot recount hit yet another snag Saturday with 2,040 ballots lost or misplaced. The county’s eternally beleaguered Supervisor of Elections Brenda Snipes said they were either misplaced, misfiled or mixed in with another stack. One thing she said she was sure of was that the ballots were still in the building. “The ballots are in this building. There would be nowhere else for them to be,” Snipes said. “The ballots are in the building. The ballots are in the building.” Snipes has been in the crosshairs of national controversy since Election Day. With a noon Sunday deadline looming,

Michelle Obama raged against the risk of her "integration and/or assimilation into a White cultural and social structure" in her Princeton University thesis. I reviewed this document, remarkable for its rancor as well as for its orthographical dysfunction, during her husband´s first presidential campaign ten years ago. Now that Mrs. Obama has emerged as a prospective candidate for the 2020 presidential election, her radical rant is worth another look.Below is my 2008 Asia Times essay. Sing, O Muse, the Wrath of Michelle -By Spengler ~~The wrath of swift-footed Achilles, of which Homer called his muse to sing, nearly lost the

Stacey Abrams refused to acknowledge Georgia’s Republican Governor-elect Brian Kemp as “legitimate” during a Sunday morning appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union” with Jake Tapper. WATCH: (Video)Throughout the course of the interview, Tapper pressed Abrams several times on the issue — and she repeatedly refused to use the word “legitimate.” “Sherrod Brown says the election was stolen. Do you agree that it was stolen and do you think that Brian Kemp is not the legitimate governor-elect of Georgia?” Tapper asked.

So CNN’s Jim Acosta scored some court points with a ruling that orders the White House to give back his press pass, at least for the time being. But he still presents as a smug elitist. He presented as an out-of-touch elitist the day he jerked away from the arm of the reaching White House intern — the day he refused to cede the microphone and cede the floor and cede his time to the many other journalists who were patiently waiting to pose questions to the president. But post-ruling, caught on camera walking from the courthouse,
