Mitch McConnell vows action on Trump

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., insists he’ll move to confirm all President Trump’s judicial nominees by the end of the year to eliminate a backlog caused by Democratic delay tactics. “We are not going to leave any judges behind at the end of the year, when we get through this Congress,” McConnell told the Washington Examiner Thursday. Senate Democrats and GOP lawmakers struck a bipartisan deal to confirm a slate of 15 judges on Thursday, which McConnell sees as a down payment for work later this year. Thursday´s action left 34 nominees still waiting to be confirmed after getting

It´s really the only thing the US Senate has to do (declare any wars lately? ratify any treaties lately?) I wish the Senate could be removed from the job of confirming any more judges, but it will take a Constitutional Amendment to strike down the "advise & consent" clause. Or, just pull an Obama & seat the judges without the Senate.

It´s amazing what a great leader can do for the morale of the country. At long last, we have Trump, who is such a leader. He seems to have given otherwise timid people strength that lay dormant for decades. It´s a far cry from Leading From Behind.

If Dem senators want to go campaign or get a Christmas vacation they will forego the insane

Used procedural pressure to get 15 judges approved today.

McConnell is really doing exceptionally well on getting judges confirmed. He is a problem on other issues, but he is a superhero on this one and deserves credit.

Judges who will neuter the left by following the Constitution as written, are being put in place for 3 or 4 decades of crippling the leftists and crazies. This is HUGE.

In an age when doomsday predictions are as common as thunderstorms, it can be instructive to look back at events and compare the predictions to what actually happened. The decision by President Trump to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital is an example that offers major lessons. Long before Trump made the announcement on Dec. 6, 2017, and pledged to move our embassy to Jerusalem, there were endless warnings that the change would cause global unrest. Opponents in America, Europe and the Arab world, including current and former government officials, vehemently insisted the peace process between Israel and Palestinians would be

President Trump´s first tweets of this Monday addressed Friday´s court filing by the Southern District of New York, which said Trump´s former personal attorney Michael Cohen "played a central role" in suppressing the stories of Stormy Daniel and Karen McDougal, who claimed to have had extra-marital affairs with Trump. Cohen told prosecutors he did so, "in coordination with and at the direction of" Trump, "with the intent to influence the 2016 presidential election." "As a result of Cohen’s actions, neither woman spoke to the press prior to the election," the court filing said. Trump, for the first time, addressed the alleged

So if the USA is a terrible horrible place, what country/nation do the (millennials/elitists) critics think we should try to be like? Have the critics spent a year in whatever country that is? It seems reasonable that they should, to be sure they know what that country looks like instead of relying on second and third hand reports. After all, changing the nature of our nation is not going to be cheap or easy. Even “climate chaos” mongers do a little (ultimately flawed) research. Remember when Boulder, Colorado banned the ownership of AR-15 rifles? They also banned high-capacity magazines and bump stocks, giving gun owners with such magazines until July 15, 2018 to either sell them or dispose of them—whatever that means. Most likely, you’ll have to turn them over to the authorities. Now, there is a grandfather clauseallowing residents who already owned AR-15s to keep them as long as they got a certificate by the local sheriff’s office. Well, that date is rapidly approaching. AR-15 owners who fall within this clause have until December 27 to certify their weapons. If owners don’t certify,

An arrogant politician expressing contempt for Donald Trump and his supporters experienced a surprising and humiliating defeat in late 2016 in our presidential election. A corresponding scenario seems to be playing itself out again in Paris. A year and a half ago, in the wake of President Trump leaving the Paris Climate accord, France’s President Emmanuel Macron asked for a fight on climate change, in an address delivered in English, making it clear that his target was Donald Trump and the American electorate. As Andrew Bolt, writing for the Herald-Sun in Australia noted, he asked for a fight and “He

Mecca. The Holy Land. Sacred ground. I feel sacrilegious for invoking such numinous phrases, but it’s hard to think of a better personal metaphor for the Strand, New York City’s iconic bookstore located in Greenwich Village. Visiting the store is its own pilgrimage for any starved bibliophile. In a world of Amazon shipping and the $.01 paperback, Strand is an oasis, offering a rarified shopping experience that slakes our need for spontaneity through the adventitious wandering of stacks. Legal trouble for President Trump is coming from all sides. There’s evidence Paul Manafort was still communicating with the White House this year. There’s evidence suggesting the Russian government was offering “synergy” with the Trump campaign. There’s further evidence Trump directed Michael Cohen to make the hush-money payments to pornographer Stormy Daniels. It’s still very unclear whether Trump broke any laws. The rest of the headline asks “But What Does It Mean?” Good question. It may mean that the prosecutors haven’t found a crime, but are still pi**ed off that Trump won the election. I find odd the notion that Trump defrauded voters. No candidate in my lifetime ever painted a clearer, more vivid picture of himself for voters. For better or for worse,

The country’s National Assembly approved a proposal to change the constitution to make the so-called reforms legal in a vote of 183 to 77. This paves the way for land to be taken from farmers without giving any kind of compensation.
