A New Era for the China-Russia-Us Triangle

Nearly a half-century ago, President Richard Nixon’s secretary of state, Henry Kissinger, established a successful U.S. strategy for dealing with America’s two most dangerous rivals. He sought closer ties to both the Soviet Union, with its more than 7,000 nuclear weapons, and Communist China, with the world’s largest population. Kissinger’s approach was sometimes called “triangulation.” But distilled down to its essence, the phrase meant ensuring that China and Russia were not friendlier to each other than each was to the United States

This state of affairs dates back to the Bush43 administration. With the fall of the USSR there was to be that enlightened "New World Order"...and here we have one. The bigger problem for the US is that the traditional powers are pacifists, hardly going through the motions. The Brits are hardly lions these days - afraid the Argies will test them in the Falklands. The Germans more allied with Russia to fulfill energy needs. France is France.

Meanwhile, the US has struggled along with a largely Cold War based foreign policy, still searching for an adversary to take the place of the USSR. Except, there are none in the wings, so Russia it is! Putin has broad shoulders, and he needs a "superpower" adversary himself to maintain Russia´s domestic image of itself.

So...expand American troop presence to include Poland? Sure, why not? Syria seems under control these days. Now, what to do with Iran?

Thousands of Central American asylum seekers determined to make it to the U.S. border have continued their arduous journey north this week, despite the Trump administration´s repeated demands that they turn back. The United Nations has estimated that as many as 7,200 people are currently making the trek toward the U.S., where the thousands of Central Americans, mostly from Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador hope to claim asylum. While the caravan has made significant progress(Snip) the group is still roughly 1,130 miles from the nearest U.S. border crossing in McAllen Texas.

When Houston´s very own returned as a part of her On the Run II Tour, Beyonce Knowles, with husband Jay-Z accompanying, sold 70,000 seats in the NRG Stadium. On the brink of a supposed blue wave hitting Texas, President Trump attracted nearly the same crowd, with over 100,000 signing up to attend his Monday evening rally and thousands of those waiting for hours (Snip) to nab one of the roughly 20,000 first-come, first-serve seats. With the lights and enthusiasm bright, Trump (for better or worse) embraced his role as the Lone Star of the GOP.

An estimated 5,000 Central American migrants resumed their march towards the United States today after camping out last night in Tapachula, Chiapas. The huge caravan of migrants, made up mainly of Hondurans fleeing poverty and violence but also Salvadorans and Guatemalans, set out this morning for Huixtla, a town about 40 kilometers north of Tapachula. A video posted to social media showed hundreds of migrants hitching a ride on the back of trailers. Mexicans are also handing out food and water along the roadside.

MAZATLAN, Mexico -- Authorities rushed to evacuate low-lying areas and set up shelters as an "extremely dangerous" Hurricane Willa with winds of 130 mph (215 kph) headed toward a Tuesday afternoon landfall along a stretch of Mexico´s Pacific coast dotted with high-rise resorts, surfing beaches and fishing villages. Farther south, meanwhile, Mexican officials reported late Monday that there had been 12 deaths related to heavy rains from Tropical Storm Vicente. NPCs are computer-generated non-player characters in video games. They are programmed to react certain ways and to say certain things because they are not human. Social justice warriors, too, are programmed. And Twitter did ban them under a new rule against "de-humanizing people." The ban did not apply to Louis Farrakhan when he tweeted Jews are termites because only a racist would ask why, that´s why.

Sen. Cory Booker announced a new bill Monday that would establish a taxpayer-funded savings account for every American at birth. “Today, nearly one in three American families have zero to negative wealth, and it’s hard to get ahead if you begin life behind the starting line,” said Mr. Booker, New Jersey Democrat. The “American Opportunity Account Act” would essentially create a trust fund for every U.S. citizen born in the U.S. After age 18, the money can be accessed but only used for certain “human and financial capital investments” like buying a house or paying for higher education.

We know that another large caravan of mostly undocumented Latin Americans is making its way from El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala through Mexico, but why are they on the march? Some are coming to participate in our booming economy and tight labor market, because fewer jobs mean higher wages. Others suffer from migratory fomo and are literally jumping on the band wagon because it´s getting a lot of traction and attention, while others are fleeing
