Hurricane Michael is so bad
that 18 Waffle Houses are closing

Fox News, by Staff

Waffle House restaurants don’t close unless absolutely necessary — so the shuttering of 18 Florida locations ahead of Hurricane Michael speaks volumes about the severity of the storm. “We have closed these restaurants yesterday so our employees can be safe as Hurricane Michael comes on shore,” Waffle House spokesperson Pat Warner confirmed to Fox News. “We have staged people and resources outside of the strike zone to come into the area after the storm passes. We will assess the damage and begin to reopen the restaurants as soon as it is safe to do so.”

The storm was over before the left had the chance to whine too much about it being the end of the world.

The good news is that this was a small, tight hurricane with comparatively little energy in total. Fast movement helped deprive it of the energy of the ocean as it moved inland, rapidly dissipated. News/weather media massively exaggerated the power and size.

Very damaging for a short distance, but within 12 hrs of landfall it was no longer a hurricane. Five hours after landfall, there was no rainfall at all more than 50 miles from the remains of the eye on the southern half of the storm.

Touted as "the most powerful storm ever to hit the mainland USA" by Bret Baier, which was ridiculous when he said it (repeatedly) and obvious by the very rapid breakup of the small, tight hurricane, not factual.

It is necessary to be realistic and accurate with the genuine weather threats. Exaggerating them is counterproductive, but seems to be the new normal in the Fake News world.

Something has happened to the Democratic Party, something dramatic and awful. It wasn’t that long ago that the Democratic Party liked the United States, and its members weren’t afraid to say it. Now saying positive things about the country will get you run out of the party and possibly attacked by a mob. Their media minions will cheer it all. And, if things go as expected next month, these people could retake the House of Representatives. These people in power should scare everyone. There is nothing they won’t do to win,

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Sometimes, you meet special people, people who have an impact not just on your day, but on your outlook in life. People who provide you a priceless gift by letting you see the world through their eyes, and thus showing you that everything is a little better than you thought it was before you met them. Sometimes, those people are only eight years old. The first thing you will learn about Jared Gyure when you meet him is that he likes U.S. presidents. He has no problem sharing that affinity,

In hot pursuit of Texas

The Democrats just can’t quit counting on Texas. Election after election, they’ve surveyed the Giant and its growing Hispanic population and imagined electoral manna. America’s second most populous state remains stubbornly, implacably Republican. The state legislature is dominated by the GOP. So, too, the state’s congressional delegation. Donald Trump bested Hillary Clinton by nine points there in 2016. Two years earlier, the Democrats thought they had a real shot at the governorship with a campaign in support of abortion for all, but Wendy Davis lost by 20 points. No Democrat has won a statewide race in Texas for a quarter century.

While the details of Jamal Khashoggi’s death have not fully emerged, we know the essentials. He died at the hands of Saudi agents in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, and the decision to kidnap or kill him must have been taken at the top of the Saudi political structure. Whether crown prince Mohammed bin Salman asked “will no one rid me of this meddlesome journalist” or specified the methods to be used, he is responsible for Khashoggi’s death. The Saudi decision to name several senior intelligence officials as sacrificial lambs will fool no one,

The Republicans are still

Control of the House of Representatives is teetering on a razor’s edge, poised to fall to the Democrats on Nov.?6, but hardly a lost cause for the Republicans. Amid a blue tide of cash, grass-roots activism and voter enthusiasm, the Democrats only have to win 23 seats to erase the GOP’s 42-seat majority. Every single House seat in the country is facing an election. The wave, if there is one, could crash the hardest in America’s suburbs, where dissatisfaction with President Trump, particularly among women, is driving typically Republican districts toward the welcoming arms of the Democratic Party.

A small group of angry diners confronted Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell at a restaurant Friday night, but were met with calls from other customers to leave the Kentucky Republican alone. Video obtained by TMZ shows at least one diner berating McConnell on issues such as Social Security at a restaurant in Louisville. The video starts with him yelling at McConnell and arguing with Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao -- to whom McConnell is married. The outlet reported that four men first confronted McConnell. “Oh yeh, why don’t you get out of here? Why don’t you leave our entire country,” the protester

About 2,000 Central American migrants who avoided Mexican law enforcement at a border bridge and swam or floated across from Guatemala have decided to reconstitute their mass caravan and continue the push north toward the U.S. Gathered at a park in the border city of Ciudad Hidalgo, the migrants voted, then marched to the bridge to urge those still there to cross the river and join them, The Associated Press reported on Saturday night. "Let´s all walk together!" and "Yes we can!" they cried, defying warnings to turn back this week from President Trump, who has sought to make immigration,

I must have missed something: Was there some kind of all-hands white-people meeting at which we voted to kick the Democrats out? Elizabeth Warren, Rachel Dolezal, Beto O’Rourke — what’s up with all the ethnic play-acting? Isn’t cultural appropriation supposed to be a bad thing among progressives? Isn’t blackface (and brownface) supposed to be an unforgivable sin? If a fraternity at a big state university had made the kind of mockery of Native Americans that Senator Warren has, it would be kicked off campus — and no pleas about a vague and mysterious “Cherokee princess”

GUANTANAMO BAY NAVY BASE, CUBA Two detainees at the Guantánamo prison who were cleared for release during the Obama administration refused to cooperate with authorities arranging their departures and now can’t leave even if they wanted to because the Trump administration has ceased most prisoner releases. The prison’s commander, Rear Adm. John Ring, disclosed the unusual standoff in remarks to reporters visiting the detention center this week. Guantánamo today has 40 prisoners, five cleared during the Obama administration. But a combination of military bureaucracy and their refusal to cooperate have left them there, at an annual cost of $11.1 million

The end of Robert Mueller’s investigation. The loss of health insurance for several million people. New laws that make it harder to vote. More tax cuts for the rich. More damage to the environment. A Republican Party molded even more in the image of President Trump. These are among the plausible consequences if the Republicans sweep the midterm elections and keep control of both the House and Senate. And don’t fool yourself. That outcome, although not the most likely one, remains possible. The last couple of weeks of polling have shown how it could happen.

Just about every poll predicts it won’t happen: Suburban voters are too fed up with Donald Trump, and Democrats too awash in cash, for Nancy Pelosi’s party not to seize the House on Nov. 6. And yet House Republicans — and privately, even a few Democrats — say the GOP could still hang on, if only by a few seats. The confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court has given GOP voters a badly needed enthusiasm boost, they argue, and several races seen as unwinnable just weeks ago are suddenly back within reach for Republicans. Democrats, meanwhile, have retreated

CIUDAD HIDALGO, Mexico — Despite Mexican efforts to stop them at the border, a growing throng of Central American migrants resumed their advance toward the U.S. border early Sunday in southern Mexico. Their numbers swelled to about 5,000 overnight and at first light they set out walking toward the Mexican town of Tapachula, 10 abreast in a line stretching approximately a mile. It was not immediately clear where the additional travelers had materialized from since about 2,000 gathered on the Mexican side Saturday night. They seemed likely to be people who had been waiting on the bridge over the Suchiate

Back in 2014, Staten Island police officers attempted to arrest Eric Garner because he was selling unlicensed cigarettes. Suddenly, after two years of indulging Clinton’s blame games and pity parties, lefty pundits say she’s talking too much, she’s stuck in the past, she had her chance and she blew it.
