Major technology companies saw their shares fall sharply Wednesday, leading a broad market selloff that dragged the Dow more than 800 points lower. The S&P 500 Information Technology sector was down 4.77 percent, marking its worst day in seven years. It was also the worst performer among all 11 S&P sectors. Meanwhile, the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite dropped 4.08 percent, its steepest loss since June 24, 2016. Amazon lost nearly 6.2 percent of its value in the selloff. The stock has now entered correction territory – defined as a 10 percent drop from their 52-week high. The e-commerce giant is down

To be honest, I blame the volatility of the markets on Democrats, the Kneepad Media and deep state. Imagine the market explosion if the Mueller witch hunt was shut down. The media reported facts and not the DNC fax sheet, and their was staility in our goobernment without democrats insiting violence are every opportunity. Markets hate uncertainty and democrats are doing all they can to make uncertainty the central component of their political philosopy.

I think this is a correction, not a crash.

Many tech stocks are at enormous p/e ratios. And they also are stocks that are difficult to analyze by traditional methods.

Blundering into war or aneconomic panic is probably the only thing that can save the Democrats in next months election.

Otherwise I expect the shift toward the GOP will continue.

After a 13% correction Amazon still has P/E of 140. Compare that to Ford P/E of about 6. I try to avoid stocks with P/E > 20. Yeah, Amazon is a growing business, but you’re betting on everything being perfact for a long time when you buy a stock at P/E of 170.

#7 nails it. A number of these stocks are truly insane on any reasonable yardstick, purely growing on hype. When P/E ratio is over 100, the stock is a bubble and can pop at any time when the mob decides it is time to sell.

Prudent investors do not have a significant portion of their portfolio in stocks like this. No one should put more into these houses of cards than one can afford to lose.

An onslaught of ads and speeches delivering insults and racist remarks. “People of America, please listen to your soul!” That’s Yoko Ono, telling us what to do on her new album Warzone. And what if our soul—collectively, Joseph Campbell-esquely—sounded like Yoko Ono? Which is to say: wizened, innocent, fearlessly strange, offensively artless, and rather peremptory. Warzone finds Ono revisiting and refashioning 13 of her own songs/pieces, from 1970’s “Why” to 2009’s “I’m Alive,” here stripping them down to wiry substructures of piano or guitar, there adding discreet layers of dialed-down freakout courtesy of a crack band of art-rock gnomes. Democrats slide in battle for Senate

The battle for control of the Senate is looking worse and worse for Democrats, who just a month ago saw a path to the majority but now increasingly look like they could lose more seats and have a smaller minority next year. (Snip) Two states where Democrats had hopes of pulling major upsets — Texas and Tennessee — have moved in favor of Republicans. Races in Nevada and Arizona, two other states where Democrats had hoped to make gains, remain tight, but Republicans feel more confident about their candidates. Democratic hopes for a wave election that would carry them to a significant House majority have been tempered in recent weeks amid a shifting political landscape and a torrent of hard-hitting attack ads from Republicans. Democrats remain favored to win, but GOP leaders believe they can minimize the number of seats they would lose — and, perhaps, find a path to preserving their advantage in the chamber. The tightening, with just over two weeks left, reflects how President Trump’s rising approval rating and the polarizing fight over Supreme Court Justice Brett M. Kavanaugh appear to be boosting the party’s candidates

Since storming into Texas politics six years ago, Ted Cruz has drawn national attention as a political giant killer, tea party champion, Senate firebrand and Donald Trump’s last rival in the battle for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination. Now, with the approach of the 2018 mid-term elections, the junior senator from Texas is cast in yet another role — that of a threatened incumbent. In a race that was initially expected to easily return Cruz to another six years in the Senate, he instead finds himself under attack from a popular Democratic challenger who has raised a jaw-dropping

The end of Robert Mueller’s investigation. The loss of health insurance for several million people. New laws that make it harder to vote. More tax cuts for the rich. More damage to the environment. A Republican Party molded even more in the image of President Trump. These are among the plausible consequences if the Republicans sweep the midterm elections and keep control of both the House and Senate. And don’t fool yourself.
