No claws for concern? Hurricane
Michael could be good news
for stone crab season.

Tampa Bay Times, by Laura Reiley

Florida stone crabs just can’t catch a break. Last year, the season started strong but traps swiftly dried up, the season limping along with very low numbers and high prices. And this year, in anticipation of Monday’s season opening, we’ve dealt with toxic blue-green algae problems, a historically long-lasting Red Tide and Hurricane Michael poised to wreak havoc on the Panhandle. A disaster for crabs, right? Not so fast. Many attribute last year’s strong start to Hurricane Irma, which hit about a month before the season opened, churning up the water and making it silty, just the way crabs prefer when

Comments:
A toxic red tide has infested Florida´s west coast from Collier County up past Pinellas. We are hoping that this terrible storm will have a couple of good side effects on the storm´s periphery. Pray for everyone in the Panhandle. It´s going to be a rough day.

Bad news is that Tallahassee Mayor Gullium, running for Governor of FL, has been on the Weather Channel this a.m. Republican candidate, Ron DeSantis, gets no such free publicity. In this razor thin race, every vote is gonna count...
Having survived a direct hit from Irma last year at 142mph, we are sending up fervent prayers for all the folks in Michael´s path.

Well if nothing else, the hurricane churned up the gulf which should get rid of the red tide. I go to Sarasota every year for spring training. Siesta Key is just assume. Just walking on the really white quartz beach is relaxing. I´ll never live there, because my wife doesn´t like hot humid weather, but going for a week is just fine.

USGS Finds Record Reserves Expected

The U.S. Geological Survey said oil and natural gas reserves straddling the New Mexico-Texas line amount to the largest such continuous energy field ever found in the region. The find was assessed to harbor 46.3 billion barrels of oil, 281 trillion cubic feet of natural gas, and 20 billion barrels of natural gas liquids, according to USGS, which did not assess the financial cost-benefit analysis of tapping into the reserves. "Christmas came a few weeks early this year," Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke said in a statement. The previously undiscovered reserves are deemed to be technically recoverable using currently available

A long classified email chain from October 2016 reveals that a large group of Obama Justice Department officials -- including James Comey -- was aware that there was highly misleading information in the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrant to spy on Trump campaign, John Solomon of The Hill reported Wednesday. According to Solomon´s sources, the documents "may provide the most damning evidence to date" of potential FISA abuses. The emails show that some in the intelligence community -- possibly the NSA -- had problems with the quality of the intelligence in the Steele dossier, which was used to obtain

Donald Trump may have done something brave that no recent president has come close to attempting by confronting China on trade via tariffs — or any other way for that matter. But in so doing, like it or not, he has placed his reelection in the hands of the general secretary of the Communist Party of China, Xi Jinping. If Xi doesn´t make a deal with Trump on trade, we are almost certainly headed for a recession (or worse) and Donald will be out the door. After that, the deluge. If nothing else, Robert Mueller´s year-and-a-half-long "investigation" into the Trump campaign will serve as an exposition of what it looks like when a presidential campaign and presidency are on "the wrong side of history." In case you didn´t know, "wrong side of history" is liberal-speak for "unhelpful to the progressive, globalist agenda." To be on the wrong side of history is to be on the wrong side of the army of liberal sycophants who populate the federal government -- especially the intelligence agencies. Because this shadow government (aka deep state) hates transparency and loathes disruptive forces like Donald J. Trump, many

He had already been wanted for drug trafficking and had been investigated for a rape last year. And then he struck again, this time in a case that has once again torn apart a sleepy college town. This is what´s called the tyranny of the majority, and I for one will not stand for it. If that´s what most people say, then most people are wrong. Dead wrong! For the West to Live, ‘Equality’ Must Die

Equality is the chief faux virtue of our time. Our obsession with it brings to mind the great G.K. Chesterton’s observation, “The business of Progressives is to go on making mistakes. The business of Conservatives is to prevent mistakes from being corrected.” Long ago the West erred by exalting “equality” at, ultimately, quality’s -- and sanity’s -- expense. In fact, it’s at a point where boys claiming girlhood are allowed in girls’ bathrooms and locker areas based on equality dogma. How do we correct this mistake? First, stop being connedservative and realize that few people have pondered equality deeply and that

California lawmakers on Wednesday officially approved a measure that mandates all homes built in the Golden State in 2020 and beyond be solar-powered. The new standards were approved earlier this year and voted on unanimously by the California Building Standards Commission, the Orange County Register reported. Officials heralded the move as a “historical undertaking” that “will be a beacon of light for the rest of the country.” The provisions add an estimated $10,000 to the cost of building a single-family home – including more than $8,400 for installing solar and roughly $1,500 for energy efficiency. And so, Gehriger jump-started the conversation by asking what Carlson thought of Trump’s first two years in office. Carlson said he cannot stand Trump’s self-aggrandizement and boasting. An elementary school principal in Nebraska was placed on leave after telling teachers to avoid decorating their classrooms with Christmas-themed ornaments so as not to offend those who don’t celebrate the holiday. The principal at Manchester Elementary School, identified by Fox affiliate KPTM as Jennifer Sinclair, sent out a memo earlier this week with guidelines as to what is considered appropriate for classroom decorations and assignments. Teachers reportedly were told that generic winter-themed items, such as sledding and scarves, and the “Frozen” character Olaf, were acceptable.

My question for Congressjerk Eric Swalwell is pretty simple: “How many Americans would you murder to achieve your goal of disarming us?” It’s a fair question. Swalwell is the MSNBC stalwart who recently wrote an op-ed advocating that the government confiscate the guns that make people like him wet themselves and imprison those of us who decline to surrender them. Millions of Americans own these basic tools of freedom, which the ignorant call “assault weapons,” and these loyal citizens keep and bear them to protect themselves, their families, their communities and their Constitution.
