I think there´s a great deal of truth in this article. In my younger days, I had assumed the "default liberal" political posture. It took two years of working next to to a sanctimonious, humorless, authoritarian liberal to convert me to a lifelong conservative.

Wow. A MUST READ for the ages.
Written from the heart, written from the inside, written with the solid gold of personal honesty. Now I understand a little better why Trump went from mugwump to staunch Conservative. It was the vicious and endless attacks. It was not even being given a chance to work together. It was full war from day one.
Trump could have compromised. He could have done the side-by-side dance. All he needed was a little welcome, a little space, a little conciliation.
But the all-out war hardened him. It turned him from squish to inflexible chromium steel. The Dems made an ENEMY from someone who could have been a friend. And once made in the fire, steel lasts a long time. See the Norse swords which have lasted 1000 years. Once you come out of that crucible, you are changed forever. All of a sudden the Constitution makes a new kind of sense.
Thank you, Mr Fisher. Now I get it.

My thought as Kavanaugh was being sworn in, still emotionally bleeding from the viciousness of his attackers’ ripping and tearing, is he really going to be the same man - “impartial and fair?” He seemed fine until Trump reminded everyone of the jackal pack-style mauling he (and his family) endured. Kavanaugh would like to be impartial but I suspect the democrat/deep state/communist machine kicked that protected, middle-class Pollyanna thinking in the face about twenty times too many. I’d like to see Kavanaugh’s opinions ridicule the “thinking” of the three ugly witches whose minds are made up on every case before the first question is answered.

Democrats eagerly anticipate return of earmarks
as way to win over rank and file members

House Democrats are eagerly eyeing the chance to revive earmarks when they take the majority next year, saying it is Congress’s duty to siphon the money to pet projects — and hoping a return to pork-barrel spending will help keep back-benchers in line. But they’re wary of taking the leap alone and say they’re hoping Senate Republicans will join them in reversing an eight-year ban. Rep. Steny H. Hoyer, poised to become House majority leader when the new Congress convenes in January, told reporters he expects bipartisan support for a return to earmarks.

If Tuesday’s instantly famous Oval Office meeting is a harbinger of things to come, it’s going to be a long two years for “Chuck and Nancy.” Presidents can be intimidating, and Trump had home court advantage during Tuesday’s meeting. However, Chuck Schumer seemed especially outmatched by a very forceful Donald Trump. As Bill Kristol (no Trump apologist) put it: “[B]ased on what I saw of their respective performances in that Oval Office meeting today, I don’t understand why it’s Nancy Pelosi who’s facing a leadership challenge and Chuck Schumer who isn’t.” The mainstream media will focus

Memo: FBI recommended Michael Flynn

Former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, who arranged the bureau´s interview with then-national security adviser Michael Flynn at the White House on Jan. 24, 2017 — the interview that ultimately led to Flynn´s guilty plea on one count of making false statements — suggested Flynn not have a lawyer present at the session, according to newly-filed court documents. In addition, FBI officials, along with the two agents who interviewed Flynn, decided specifically not to warn him that there would be penalties for making false statements because the agents wanted to ensure that Flynn was "relaxed" during the session.

Beto O´Rourke is a loser. I don´t mean that in some broad sense that impugns his personal integrity or abilities. He´s clearly a very handsome, charming man with a talent for promoting himself on social media and an abundance of that most mysterious and amorphous political quality: charisma. I mean he´s a loser in the precise sense that his singular accomplishment in American public life (besides getting himself elected to a House seat in far-west Texas four years ago) has been to lose a Senate race to the stupendously unpopular Republican Ted Cruz.

Drunk on his own self-deluded rectitude, James Comey has become one of the most insufferable voices on the Left. He teaches “ethics” at William & Mary, but it is hard to imagine a more unethical FBI director than one who signs off on the most invasive spying warrants imaginable without bothering to verify them, or even know their rationale. That came out in his shameless testimony last Friday in closed session with Congress. It was clear from his slipshod testimony that he hadn’t even read the FISA warrants he approved. I’m experiencing 1998 déjà vu as prosecutors once again work overtime to turn extramarital affairs and the efforts to keep them secret into impeachable high crimes and misdemeanors. Unable to get the witnesses to compose the stories they want, today’s prosecutors are discovering they can simply compose the crimes by manipulating the pleas of men desperate to protect their families. The Michael Cohen sentencing memo took aim directly at both Cohen and President Donald Trump. It was used, unethically, to cast the president as directing a criminal conspiracy to make “secret and illegal” payments. Sentencing memos are not supposed

Shakespeare famously wrote of the “sceptered isle” of Britain acting as a moat “against the envy of less happier lands.” Lately, the less happier lands are winning in a rout. Britain is suffering a political meltdown as it struggles to make good on a historic vote in 2016 to leave the European Union. The decision for a so-called Brexit was a stirring statement of independence and self-government by a people who have defined themselves down the centuries by their stiff-necked resistance to anyone — whether overweening monarchs or continental tyrants — who would threaten either.
