Kimberley Strassel picks apart Feinstein’s
Kavanaugh letter: ‘timing here cannot be ignored’

Daily Caller, by Virginia Kruta

California Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein issued a statement on Thursday alluding to a letter she received that raised concerns about Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh — but the Wall Street Journal’s Kimberley Strassel suggested that the whole scenario didn’t exactly add up. The letter, to which Feinstein referred in a vague statement, is believed to contain an allegation of some instance of sexual misconduct involving Kavanaugh and a woman when they were both in high school. But in Feinstein’s statement, Strassel saw a few things that were potentially problematic.

Kimberley Strassel is a treasure. As for Feinstein, she has a long history of unprincipled conduct. Among other disgraces, she´s the one who led the Democrat senators to the White House to support Bill Clinton on the day he was impeached. Feinstein´s husband´ former company received the no bid contract to sell all USPS unused property in the US. The commissions were estimated to be several billion dollars. Then there is the matter of Feinstein employing a Chinese spy for 20 years. Shame from A to Z.

If the United States Senate has any integrity, it will move to punish Feinstein for this stunt that impugns a man with zero evidence. She can cry "vetting" all she wants. This is where such has to stop - and Mitch should be asking Democrats from the floor whether they have any shame whatever to condone such behavior from a "distinguished senior member"...

The wording has been updated to our sexualized way of describing things.

In essence two 17 year old boys (at a party) locked a girl in a room for a while. There is nothing to say that alcohol was consumed. There is nothing else.

But Dem words now intimate bad stuff happening. It was a WOMAN. She felt THREATENED. It was SEXUAL HARASSMENT!!!!!

It´s too bad that suing the pants off of Old Diane isn´t feasible. It sure should be. She is gleefully committing slander and their justification is "he is in the running for supreme court". So that gives them the okay to say untrue things or "float" out lies? The lot of them should be run off...I for one am tired of them using and abusing their title and office.

Beto O’Rourke was too proud to hold back an f-bomb late Tuesday, even on national television. Following a narrow defeat to Senator Ted Cruz in Texas, O’Rourke, the celebrity-backed Democrat and former punk rocker, told his hometown supporters of El Paso he was “so f—ing proud” of them. “Tonight’s loss does nothing to diminish the way I feel about Texas or this country,” the incumbent said. “I’m so f—ing proud of you guys.” MSNBC, which didn’t censor O’Rourke’s comment, later apologized. “Sorry for the F-bomb,” anchor Brian Williams said. “We have no control of what’s in the concession speeches.”

Voters Tuesday will decide Arizona’s crucial race for the open U.S. Senate seat, which is careening to a close with no clear winner in one of the most unpredictable races in state history. No matter what happens, Arizona will have its first woman senator in its 106-year history. The slugfest between Republican Martha McSally and Democrat Kyrsten Sinema was one of the fiercest-fought in the nation and was markedly negative. It drew tens of millions of dollars from allies of both parties and millions more from the candidates themselves.

While all eyes are on the political forecasts going into Election Day, the actual weather should not be overlooked. Meteorologists are tracking conditions for a potential tornado outbreak that could blow through a major swathe of the country early next week, and have an impact on several high-profile races along the way. "It´s still too early to identify location and duration and potential intensity," Patrick Marsh, a warning coordination meteorologist for the National Weather Service´s Storm Prediction Center, told NBC News. "But extreme weather could play a big role on voting."

Cesar Sayoc, like James Hodgkinson, is from the extreme lunatic fringe. We suppose it was only a matter of time before the hyperpartisan forces now driving American politics overwhelmed the reality of events. With this week’s pipe bombs, that moment may have arrived. The reality, previously known as the facts, is that for days this week public critics of President Trump received what appeared to be bombs in the mail. On Friday federal authorities arrested a Florida man, Cesar Sayoc, and charged him with crimes related to the mailed bombs.

Every big U.S. election is interesting, but the coming midterms are fascinating for a reason most commentators forget to mention: The Democrats have no issues. The economy is booming and America’s international position is strong. In foreign affairs, the U.S. has remembered in the nick of time what Machiavelli advised princes five centuries ago: Don’t seek to be loved, seek to be feared. The contrast with the Obama years must be painful for any honest leftist.

STARKVILLE, Miss.—Over the past hundred years, the George family’s farm has been sharecropped, grazed by cattle and planted with cotton. By the late 1980s, Clayton George was growing soybeans and struggling to make ends meet. A new federal program offered farmers money to reforest depleted land. Pine trees appealed to Mr. George. He bought loblolly seedlings and pulled his pickup into a parking lot where hands-for-hire congregated. “We figured we’d plant trees and come back and harvest it in 30 years and in the meantime go into town to make a living doing something else,” he said.

The Ford-Kavanaugh hearing consumed most of Thursday, and unsurprisingly we learned nothing from the spectacle. Christine Ford remains unable to marshal any evidence for her claim of a sexual assault. Brett Kavanaugh continues to deny the charge adamantly and categorically, and with persuasive emotion. Something enormous nonetheless has shifted over the past weeks of political ambushes, ugly threats and gonzo gang-rape claims. In a Monday interview, Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski noted: “We are now in a place where it’s not about whether or not Judge Kavanaugh is qualified.” Truer words were never spoken.

This is not to say Christine Blasey Ford isn’t sincere in what she remembers. In an interview published in the Washington Post on Sunday, Ms. Ford offered a few more details of the story..
