Author of ´How to Murder Your Husband´
arrested for allegedly killing her husband

Life has apparently imitated art for one romance writer. In a twist of irony so devious it would have turned Agatha Christie green with envy, Oregon chef Daniel Brophy was found shot to death nearly seven years after his wife of 27 years penned an essay titled “How to Murder Your Husband.” Nancy Crampton-Brophy, the writer of sensuous mysteries such as “Hell on the Heart” and “The Wrong Husband,” was arrested for murder on Sept. 5 — more than three months after the death of her spouse.

This is the plot from every cheesy Murder She Wrote/Columbo/Matlock etc etc

Not much specificity in this short piece. Aside from writing the referenced essay, why and how do they think she did it?

Reminds me of an old Jack Lemmon, Terry Thomas movie, How to Murder Your Wife. But Lemmon only pretended to murder his wife in a comic strip he wrote. No man would ever murder Virna Lisi.

Actually, a better story for a movie or novel would be if someone had used the author´s method(s) described in her essay to kill the author´s spouse, casting the obvious blame on the spouse. That would be the Murder She Wrote plot, anyway. Or it would end up that H committed suicide but did it in a way that would implicate W.

This crime was committed in Portland, Oregon, a city that has supported Antifa in the past.

Who knows what happened, and who knows whether they have just rounded up the usual suspect, the spouse.

Basic Instinct (1992), starring the rather attractive Sharon Stone (Catherine Tramell), was all about this subject....

John Correli: Did you kill Mr. Boz, Miss Tramell?

Catherine: I´d have to be pretty stupid to write a book about killing and then kill him the way I described in my book. I´d be announcing myself as the killer. I´m not stupid.

#12, Sharon Stone is a native of Saegertown, Pa., a village down the road from Erie. She also has a genius IQ, went to Edinboro College for a short time at age 16, I think.
And she showed her stuff to Newman in this movie! (although he explained on a talk show how he didn´t actually see ´it´ because the camera had to be placed where he was sitting.)

As for the case described in the article, the woman should not have done one or the other.

As Dave Roberts journeyed from the bench to the mound Saturday night, the fans in Dodger Stadium started to boo. The closer the manager moved to the mound, the louder the boos became. The audience knew something Roberts didn´t: He was making a mistake by removing Rich Hill from the game. Then again, the Dodgers were ahead by four runs. What in the name of Jonathan Broxton could possibly go wrong? Plenty, it turned out. Hill´s premature departure started a chain of events that resulted not only in the Dodgers blowing their hard-earned advantage, but allowing the Boston Red Sox to blow open the game in the

Trump-era protests, Kavanaugh drama

Mobs swarming the Capitol steps. Protesters clawing at the doors of the Supreme Court. “This is what democracy looks like!” they chant. Yes, it is — which is why we should thank God we live in a republic. The almost two years since Donald Trump was elected president have seen an upsurge in dramatic public manifestations of discontent from the left-wing “resistance.” (snip) What was the point of these theatrics? The outcome wasn’t changed; Brett Kavanaugh is now a Supreme Court justice. There was no political benefit for the Democrats.

Kavanaugh lesson: Resist the ´resistance´ or lose

It’s time to resist the “resistance.” Left unchecked, this political movement may just cement a Republican majority in Washington for the next 20 years. Rather than taking back the country from President Trump, this well funded and coordinated effort is setting back the Democrats and disassembling a few of our government institutions at the same time. Trump’s victory gave the left an opportunity to radicalize the Democratic Party. The idea was simple: Oppose everything with all we’ve got. Energize, protest, flip on the switches of identity politics, use the politics of personal destruction,

On the Senate floor, where no one can interrupt you and commercial breaks aren’t a thing, Sen. Susan Collins stood alone. And she stood tall. The Maine Republican’s floor speech announcing her vote for Brett Kavanaugh systematically dismantled every Democratic attack on the new Supreme Court justice and made a convincing case in favor of President Donald Trump’s highly qualified nominee. Collins capped a team effort by the Republican Party to confirm Kavanaugh, one that united all wings, branches, genres and flavors of Republicans.

Paul (and Senator Orrin Hatch) has already mentioned the possibility that Dr. Ford’s allegation of sexual assault by Brett Kavanaugh may be a case of mistaken identity, based in part on Ed Whelan’s cryptic tweets that Kavanaugh is going to be fully exonerated. This has set off of firestorm of rumors and expectations. Whalen has just now (6 pm eastern time) provided one specific scenario of this on Twitter, offering up a specific name (though careful to note that he makes no allegation of implication that the other person, Chris Garrett, assaulted Ford as claimed).

Naomi Osaka became the first Japanese player to win a Grand Slam after she defeated Serena Williams 6-2, 6-4. The match was interrupted by issues between Williams and umpire Carlos Ramos, who handed Serena several violations, including a game penalty that put Osaka up 5-3 in the second set. Before the game penalty, Williams got a second violation, this one for smashing her racket, and again yelled at the chair umpire who had given her a first warning for coaching. That second code violation cost Williams a point, meaning Naomi Osaka had a 15-0 even before hitting her first serve

It has been speculated that Mitt Romney’s Utah Senate seat could serve as a prelude to another Presidential run. In the most ambitious version of events, he could even challenge Donald Trump in the 2020 primaries, newly legitimized and augmented by his actions in the Capitol Building. This would allow moderate Republicans to reclaim their party’s mantle and unroot alt-right influences. But would Romney do it? His willingness to unequivocally challenge Trump could be seen either as a pro or con by Republicans, depending on their opinions of the sitting president.

To look back at the moment John Kerry entered US public life, addressing the Senate foreign relations committee on 22 April 1971, is to be struck by many things. There are the famous words, of course: “How do you ask a man to be the last man to die in Vietnam? How do you ask a man to be the last man to die for a mistake?” There is the shock of dark, Beatles-inspired hair, the distinctly British-tinged accent. Above all, there is the self-possession.
