AUBURN, Wash. -- Human decency took a back seat in Auburn Saturday when a man and two teens left a clerk suffering a heart attack to die, but not before helping themselves to the cash in the till and several other items in the store, police said. "It just blows my mind. It breaks our hearts," said store manager Angela Sharapova. "We can’t believe that this happened." It was just after 5:30 p.m. when a man and two teen boys went into a Shell station on Auburn Way South. One of the teens grabbed a pepperoni stick and began to eat it,

Sharpest video image I have seen. Should help in catching the three.

5:30 p.m. is an odd time for a robbery. This was probably completely unplanned. But they saw an opportunity and took it.

Should be fingerprints on that cash register and perhaps elsewhere.

They are probably teens and will get off lightly for taking the cash.

And BTW they are greedy and selfish.

How do you punish people like this ? If they go to prison, it´s old home week with family and friends. No fear.

So much sadness for the clerk, his wife, and their three children. Condolences for their suffering, and hope that he will recover.

The loss of empathy and basic instincts of humanity to help someone in need is lost on some young people today. This is the reality of life today. Our culture is crumbling around us because many of us have lost the ability to feel compassion for anyone suffering. The rot in being exposed in these alarming instances.

When leaders forcefully and frequently preach hate, of course, it is going to produce feral behavior. It is becoming rampant in parts of the country. It is time that these communities take responsibility for the actions of their young men and women. This is something that cannot be fixed from someone from the outside. And is, frankly, not caused by skin color, it is caused by lack of human decency and character.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the victim and his family.

After more than a century behind bars, the beasts on boxes of animal crackers are roaming free. Mondelez International, the parent company of Nabisco, has redesigned the packaging of its Barnum’s Animals crackers in response to pressure from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. PETA, which has been protesting the use of animals in circuses for more than 30 years, wrote a letter to Mondelez in the spring of 2016 calling for a redesign. “Given the egregious cruelty inherent in circuses that use animals and the public’s swelling opposition to the exploitation of animals used for entertainment, we urge Nabisco to update

While more than 300 newspapers signed on to the effort, many did not, including The Seattle Times, The Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times and the San Francisco Chronicle. This effort by many esteemed newspaper editorial boards plays directly into the president’s us-versus-him narrative that the news media is of one mind, we don’t like him and are doing everything we can to sink his

A 29-year-old mechanic took off in a Horizon Q400 turboprop at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on Friday night and crashed the plane in the south Puget Sound while being trailed by two fighter jets, officials said. The plane was piloted by a Pierce County man and crashed on Ketron Island, the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office said. There appear to have been no passengers on the 76-seat plane. The sheriff’s office said that “this is not a terrorist incident” and that the pilot was a mechanic from an unknown airline. He crashed from either doing stunts or because of a lack of flying skills.

Republican Rep. Devin Nunes of California, the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, appears to have moved from criticizing the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election to strategizing about how to blunt its impact should it imperil President Donald Trump. The most promising instrument in this effort, he suggested in unfiltered remarks last month, is retaining a GOP-controlled Congress. Even if he had been speaking publicly, the eight-term Republican might not have chosen his words differently. He is an adamantly pro-Trump lawmaker who in February released a memorandum accusing the intelligence community of conspiring against the president.

Given the many worthwhile activities taking place during Seafair, I wonder why it is necessary to use the Blue Angels as part of the celebration. The Blue Angels certainly provide entertainment; but do we really need this type of diversion? While many see it as simply an air show, it is also a display of military muscle-flexing that seems a bit outdated — even considering the recent events

Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and his accuser Christine Blasey Ford will go head-to-head in testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee next Monday. The hearing sets up a potential show down on Capitol Hill, the likes of which have not been seen since Clarence Thomas and Anita Hill testified in 1991 after she accused him of sexual harassment. Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s treatment of a more than 3-decade-old sexual assault allegation against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh was unfair all around. It was unfair to Kavanaugh, unfair to his accuser and unfair to Feinstein’s colleagues — Democrats and Republicans alike — on the Senate Judiciary Committee. Feinstein, a California Democrat, took the worst possible course by waiting until almost a week after Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearing was completed to ominously announce that she had turned over “information from an individual” about Kavanaugh to the FBI, and adding that she would be honoring the woman’s “strongly requested” confidentiality.
