Much of Southeast coast under
evacuation orders ahead
of Hurricane Florence

NBC News, by Elizabeth Chuck*

Original Article

Posted By:earlybird, 9/10/2018 9:54:56 PM

As Hurricane Florence barreled toward the Southeast as a Category 4 storm, governors in the Carolinas and Virginia issued mandatory evacuation orders on Monday — affecting hundreds of thousands of people. The most sweeping order came in South Carolina, where Gov. Henry McMaster gave the entire coastline until noon on Tuesday to leave — a mandate potentially impacting as many as a million people. "We know that this evacuation order is going to be inconvenient for some people," Gov. Henry McMaster said at a news conference on Monday afternoon, "but we do not want to risk one South Carolinian’s life."

Some hurricanes I would never evacuate--rode out Irma a year ago today-- but I think if I were in coastal Carolina I´d be running.

Governor is in a lose-lose situation. He ordered evacuation—and if storm is NOT cataclysmic, liberal scum media will excoriate him. Had he NOT ordered evacuation and storm IS cataclysmic, liberal scum media would have excoriated him for not ordering evacuation.

See how it works? Media knows all—NOT. But GOP Governor will be attacked no matter what he does.

Liberal scum media is redundant.

Now you see, if this Hurricane were named Hillary or Barack there would be no reporting of it what-so-ever. NBC News would just go dark and let everyone get wiped out.

It´s just their way.

I lived about half my life in hurricane country, half in tornado country.

I went through at least six hurricanes, several quite memorable. Never have even seen a tornado or had one within 100 miles of me.

I wouldn´t evacuate for most of them. Seventy miles an hour is what we get regularly in Oklahoma - of course never with rain. But this one, I would evacuate. I´ve been through hurricanes, grew up in Louisiana, and after moving to Oklahoma have been near many tornadoes. Not really afraid of either but then along came earthquakes caused by fracking. We had one really big one a few years ago, scared the bejeezus out of me. There was roaring and the whole house was shaking. At least you get some warning with hurricanes and most tornadoes.

I live on the southwest side of Charleston and we are not evacuating. The maps now show us getting 30-40 mph winds and less than 3 inches of rain. That’s what we get in an average summer afternoon thunderstorm.

Hubby and I grew up on the Gulf Coast of Florida and know how to ride out a hurricane in any case.

I think the chaos caused by the governor’s premature evacuation order is going to backfire on him big time.

Meanwhile, prayers for the people of North Carolina and Virginia.

As long as you are at least 5-10 miles inland, and not on a creek that can either channel the storm surge, or flood from the storm´s rain, your issue will be trees falling and flying debris during the storm, then dealing with no power for some number of days afterwards.

I remember we had a really wonderful BBQ the day after one storm in Jax Beach. All the steaks in the freezer were thawing, time to have a nice dinner. Got ice and kept some of the food OK but had to eat out of the freezer for a few days, then to canned foods. Huge live oak branches all around, none hit our house, but a big oak fell thru the second story of a house down the street. Scary night sleeping in the hall (stongest part of the house) as the winds howled and we heard trees crashing down.

Ya´ll be careful about that water, that is the real danger.

Look at what’s going on with Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation proceedings for the Supreme Court, and the fingerprints of George Soros are all over it. First there was a report from June in the Daily Caller that found “a new political advocacy group that vowed to put $5 million behind an effort to stop … Kavanaugh’s confirmation has significant ties to the liberal financier” Soros. What are those ties? The group, Demand Justice, established in 2018, gets its money from the Sixteen Thirty Fund — and the Sixteen Thirty Fund received roughly $2.2 million

The woman accusing Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault says the FBI should investigate the incident before senators hold a hearing on the allegations. In a letter addressed to Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley of Iowa, and obtained by CNN´s "Anderson Cooper 360," Christine Blasey Ford´s attorneys argue that "a full investigation by law enforcement officials will ensure that the crucial facts and witnesses in this matter are assessed in a non-partisan manner, and that the Committee is fully informed before conducting any hearing or making any decisions."

"We have reached out to her in the last 36 hours, three or four times, by email, and we have not heard from them,”Grassley said.

NEW YORK — An organization that has a close relationship with Florida Democratic gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum calls for an “end” to “disaster capitalism,” rants against Independence Day and spreads malicious falsehoods about Israel. Dream Defenders Co-Director Phillip Agnew recently described a long and close working and personal relationship with Gillum and said he considers Gillum to be “part of the movement.” Dream Defenders Action Fund, the electoral and c4 nonprofit arm of Dream Defenders, was part of a progressive coalition that reportedly committed $3.5 million to help Gillum win the Democratic primary against Gwen Graham.

The “intergalactic freak show,” as Senator John Kennedy (R-La.) so splendidly called it, continues. For the third time, the progressives have used a last-resort accusation of sexual misconduct to seek to besmear the reputation of a good man and force him to withdraw from the public stage. It worked with Roy Moore, it failed with Clarence Thomas, and it must not be allowed to succeed with Brett Kavanaugh. In the case of Judge Kavanaugh, this is more than the usual “he said,” “she said,” as we had, for example, with Clarence Thomas and Anita Hill.

It is almost impossible to overstate the damage done to America’s moral compass by taking the charges leveled against Judge Brett Kavanaugh seriously. It undermines foundational moral principles of any decent society. Those who claim the charges against Judge Kavanaugh by Christine Blasey Ford are important and worth investigating, and that they ultimately, if believed, invalidate his candidacy for the U.S. Supreme Court are stating that: a) What a middle-aged adult did in high school is all we need to need to know to evaluate an individual’s character—even when his entire adult life has been impeccable.

Upon the memory and truthfulness of Christine Blasey Ford hangs the Supreme Court nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh, his reputation, and possibly his career on the nation’s second highest court. And much more. If Kavanaugh is voted down or forced to withdraw, the Republican Party and conservative movement could lose their last best hope for recapturing the high court for constitutionalism. No new nominee could be vetted and approved in six weeks. And the November election could bring in a Democratic Senate, an insuperable obstacle to the elevation of a new strict constructionist like Kavanaugh.

Yesterday D.C. Whispers warned its readers the bogus allegations against Trump Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh, would be front and center this week as Democrats hoped to intimidate enough Republican senators that Kavanaugh’s appointment might be delayed and possibly derailed entirely. That attempt is now happening and proving successful as Republican senators Jeff Flake, Lisa Murkowski, and Susan Collins, all indicated they were open to delaying the Kavanaugh vote. To add fuel to the fire, the ever-manipulative Senator Chuck Schumer called for an FBI investigation into the allegations – allegations that Kavanagh rubbed up against someone when he was a teenager.

Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and his accuser Christine Blasey Ford will go head-to-head in testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee next Monday. The hearing sets up a potential show down on Capitol Hill, the likes of which have not been seen since Clarence Thomas and Anita Hill testified in 1991 after she accused him of sexual harassment. Thomas was ultimately confirmed after a bitter and bruising battle. But the Kavanaugh-Ford hearing comes more than 25 years later, amid the #metoo movement, and when women have been energized after the election of Donald Trump as president.
