The monkeypox virus has been diagnosed in the UK for the first time, according to Public Health England (PHE). The disease, which is usually found in central and west Africa, is similar to smallpox, and can be deadly. One individual is confirmed to have monkeypox. They were staying in a naval base in Cornwall, before being transferred to the expert infectious disease unit at the Royal Free Hospital in London. The most common symptom of monkey pox is the “eruption” of skin rashes all over the body, that appear as fluid-filled blisters. The patient is a resident of Nigeria

Comments:

COLUMBUS COUNTY, N.C. - Josephine Horne climbed aboard a 16-foot Coast Guard punt boat from her nearly underwater trailer. But as she inhaled from her oxygen tank, she looked back at her 10 beagles still in cages. Some were swimming, trying desperately to climb up the sides. Their cries and yelps echoed throughout the wooded neighborhood.(Snip) “We got a boat full of beagles!” crew member Tyler Elliott said with a laugh. “This is the best day of my life!” The rescue turned into a comedy skit of sorts as some the dogs hopped from the vessel, causing

Two incumbent red-state Democratic senators who have been the targets of some of President Trump´s ire are facing increasingly tough odds to win re-election in November, a new poll shows, underscoring the challenges Democrats face in their bid to retake the Senate in November -- as well as Trump´s continuing presence in key battleground states. Montana Sen. Jon Tester and Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill are locked in dead heats with their Republican challengers, according to the CBS News poll, with Tester leading Matt Rosendale by only two percentage points and McCaskill tied with Josh Hawley at 45 percent. Canada is out of ammunition to fire back at the United States if NAFTA talks fall apart and the Trump administration ramps up trade aggression, according to experts monitoring the negotiations. Ottawa’s counter-tariffs on American steel, aluminum and a list of goods ranging from pens to playing cards have put $300 million in government coffers, according to the Canada Border Service Agency. Canada has pledged to keep the measures in place until the U.S. lifts its duties on Canadian steel and aluminum. That counter-punch isn’t having a big enough impact on American companies and states that sell goods north

By her party’s new standards, maybe not anymore. Conceived in Germany during the run-up to World War II, the Beetle became an icon of the American counterculture during the Vietnam War. But it lost momentum following the twin oil shocks of the 1970s and, despite two attempts to rebuild its appeal with complete makeovers, it has been little more than a largely forgotten niche vehicle in recent years.
