NEW: Daily Beast’s NBC Bombshell is ‘Only the

Mediaite, by Caleb Ecarma and Aidan McLaughlin

Original Article

The Daily Beast’s bombshell on NBC News’ alleged internal efforts to kill Ronan Farrow’s expose on Harvey Weinstein is “only the beginning” of their reporting on the network’s misconduct problems, a source told Mediaite. The mood at NBC News was one of surprise at the Beast’s new report on Farrow, with some relieved it was not the devastating story they expected, one network source said. That optimism might be misplaced: Mediaite learned the Daily Beast has spoken to close to 100 sources at NBC News for a broader report

I didn’t think the first story was much of anything. I will reserve judgment on the stories to come on the same subject. The news media has desensitized the public to most news. Now they must lie in their own mess.

Can´t help but think this would have all gone away if Weinstein had paid off the correct people. Weinstein decided he was untouchable and refused to pay. He´s probably right. He will now go off into reclusive retirement enjoying his ill gotten millions.

A bombshell? Hardly. We conservatives have known for years that NBC spikes and buries stories that don´t fit their political agenda.

Apparently, the suits at NBC didn´t want to embarrass a leftist icon like Harvey. Nothing new about that.

The only thing "Ronan Farrow" could do that would interest me - -

- - would be to start referring to himself by his birth name - - Satchel Allen.

Yes - - that would be interesting to me.

Is America a great country or what? Where else can you work as a "public servant" most of your life and cash in to the tune of tens of millions of dollars when you "retire"? Michelle Obama, wife of former president Barack Obama, is in the midst of a book tour to sell her autobiography Becoming. It´s a sur- fire best seller and the book tour itself will net her millions. She also gets $225,000 a pop in speaking fees. Combine that with the cash being raked in by her husband and a strong case can be made

The U.S. Supreme Court is expected to hear a case next year about whether the Constitution permits a 40-foot cross honoring World War I veterans on a traffic island in Bladensburg, Md. Lawyers seeking to preserve the war memorial appealed the case to the high court months ago. But after Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation, the lawyers began planning to emphasize additional arguments, said Ken Klukowski, a lawyer at First Liberty Institute, a conservative legal group representing the American Legion, a veterans group involved in the case.

Rain is on its way to the Golden State. Firefighters battling the deadly wildfires raging at both ends of California will get some respite when a rainstorm hits Tuesday night into Wednesday, meteorologists said. Additional rounds of rain are expected in northern California, near the devastating Camp Fire, Thursday and Friday, according to Accuweather Senior Meteorologist Mike Doll. “The rain mid- to late week will greatly aid crews battling the Camp Fire,” said Doll. Southern California, where the destructive Woolsey Fire is raging, will also see rain midweek, but not as much as northern and central areas of the state.

Looking out the window on icy snow this cold, gray mid-November morning, it is hard not to make the comparison. Minneapolis is looking more and more like Moscow on the Mississippi. Predictions by global warming enthusiasts not withstanding, the weather is not the only similarity. A grayness hovers over Minnesota like a fog. It is a heaviness. It feels oppressive. The gray funk resulting from the reality that the Left has strengthened its grip on this state and its government. The Governor-elect wasted little time announcing that we should brace for the jolt of a hefty tax increase on gasoline.

The 2018 World Scrabble Championship was held last month in London. The champion, 51-year old Nigel Richards, played “groutier” (meaning “sulky”) for the winning 68 points. This was Mr. Richards’s fourth world title in English Scrabble; he also took the French Scrabble title this year for the second time, even though he doesn’t speak French. If Mr. Richards’s dominance of competitive Scrabble is clear, there is a less noticed but more significant pattern in the game: Since the World Scrabble Championship began in 1991, all winners have been male. The North American Scrabble Championship has had one female winner

Just because you can doesn’t mean you should. That age-old advice about the distinction between freedom and wisdom came to mind as I read the ruling that requires the White House to reissue media credentials to CNN blowhard Jim Acosta. Federal Judge Timothy Kelly said Acosta must be allowed to return because there was no due process in the decision to suspend him. Kelly, appointed by President Trump, emphasized he wasn’t ruling on the merits of the suspension or Acosta’s behavior, only the process.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Fresh off its bungled machine recount, Broward County’s second day of manual recounting temporarily stopped about an hour after it began Saturday when lawyers from both political parties pointed out that volunteers were counting the wrong ballots. Hundreds of volunteers spent most of Friday sorting through 32,000 overvotes and undervotes in the Senate race between incumbent Sen. Bill Nelson and Republican Gov. Rick Scott. Broward officials announced Friday night they had finished their manual recount. On Saturday, the volunteers started sorting about 22,000 undervotes and overvotes in the contentious contest for Florida Commissioner of Agriculture.

The language we use to cover news events says a great deal about our editorial judgment. And the Associated Press’ handling of the long-shot recount efforts in Georgia and New Mexico says its judgment needs serious reconsideration. In the Peach State, Democratic House Minority Leader Stacey Abrams is hoping against hope that her recount efforts will upend the results of the state’s gubernatorial election, taking away Republican Georgia Gov.-elect Brian Kemp´s victory. On Friday, the AP covered Abrams’ campaign to overturn the election results with a headline that reads: “ Abrams prepares push for new Georgia Gov. vote.”

It has been speculated that Mitt Romney’s Utah Senate seat could serve as a prelude to another Presidential run. In the most ambitious version of events, he could even challenge Donald Trump in the 2020 primaries, newly legitimized and augmented by his actions in the Capitol Building. This would allow moderate Republicans to reclaim their party’s mantle and unroot alt-right influences. But would Romney do it? His willingness to unequivocally challenge Trump could be seen either as a pro or con by Republicans, depending on their opinions of the sitting president.

To look back at the moment John Kerry entered US public life, addressing the Senate foreign relations committee on 22 April 1971, is to be struck by many things. There are the famous words, of course: “How do you ask a man to be the last man to die in Vietnam? How do you ask a man to be the last man to die for a mistake?” There is the shock of dark, Beatles-inspired hair, the distinctly British-tinged accent. Above all, there is the self-possession. Championing the cause of the poor, Pope Francis on Sunday lamented that "the wealthy few" enjoy what, "in justice, belongs to all" and said Christians cannot remain indifferent to the growing cries of the exploited and the indigent, including migrants. Francis invited about 6,000 poor people as well as some of the volunteers who help them to the splendor of St. Peter´s Basilica where he celebrated Mass on a day the Catholic Church dedicates to the needy. Later, he sat down with 1,500 of the indigent for a lunch of lasagna, chicken, mashed potatoes and tiramisu in a Vatican auditorium.
