NEW: Daily Beast’s NBC Bombshell is ‘Only the

Mediaite, by Caleb Ecarma and Aidan McLaughlin

Original Article

The Daily Beast’s bombshell on NBC News’ alleged internal efforts to kill Ronan Farrow’s expose on Harvey Weinstein is “only the beginning” of their reporting on the network’s misconduct problems, a source told Mediaite. The mood at NBC News was one of surprise at the Beast’s new report on Farrow, with some relieved it was not the devastating story they expected, one network source said. That optimism might be misplaced: Mediaite learned the Daily Beast has spoken to close to 100 sources at NBC News for a broader report

I didn’t think the first story was much of anything. I will reserve judgment on the stories to come on the same subject. The news media has desensitized the public to most news. Now they must lie in their own mess.

Can´t help but think this would have all gone away if Weinstein had paid off the correct people. Weinstein decided he was untouchable and refused to pay. He´s probably right. He will now go off into reclusive retirement enjoying his ill gotten millions.

A bombshell? Hardly. We conservatives have known for years that NBC spikes and buries stories that don´t fit their political agenda.

Apparently, the suits at NBC didn´t want to embarrass a leftist icon like Harvey. Nothing new about that.

The only thing "Ronan Farrow" could do that would interest me - -

- - would be to start referring to himself by his birth name - - Satchel Allen.

Yes - - that would be interesting to me.

The Truth About Polygraph Tests
City Journal, by Claire Berlinski    Original Article

News organizations would render a valuable service if, whenever they report that someone has taken or proposes to take a polygraph, they reminded readers (or explained to them) that polygraphs are voodoo. Junk science. They are no more reliable than a pack of Tarot cards. Polygraph evidence is inadmissible in court. There is a good reason for that. To check Brett Kavanaugh’s qualifications for the Supreme Court, Congress would do well to ask him whether he believes Frye v. United States and United States v. Scheffer were correctly decided. This would be far more illuminating (and meaningful)

Eviscerating Kavanaugh: Sen. Feinstein,
have you no sense of decency?

Watching the slow, public evisceration of U.S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh by Senate Democrats —on the strength of one unsubstantiated charge of alleged sexual aggression 36 years ago when Kavanaugh was in high school — a question comes to mind: Have you no sense of decency, Sen. Feinstein? Decency was once an important feature of the Democratic Party’s story. Long before Bork became a verb, long before Clarence Thomas was dragged through the mud because a conservative black man proved a profound threat to Democrats, the party held fast to the notion of decency.

Breaking right now—Ian Buruma is out as editor of the New York Review of Books, a post he has only held for about a year, for the sin of publishing an article by Jian Ghomeshi, a Canadian broadcaster who was acquitted of sexual assault charges in 2016. I hadn’t seen the article yet—my print issue is slow to arrive out here on the left coast—but it appeared online a few days ago, and I’ve given it a quick skim. A nation gawks as Washington sinks deeper into the muck, but put aside your disgust long enough to digest what we’re seeing. Three big things are on display. First, Democrats are proving again that their force multiplier is a win-or-die zealotry. They were on a mission to kill anybody President Trump chose to replace retiring Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy and, within minutes of Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination, Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer announced he would fight Kavanaugh “with everything I have.” All 10 Dems on the Judiciary Committee pledged to vote no.

Christine Blasey Ford, the California professor claiming Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her more than 35 years ago, late Tuesday demanded a "full investigation" by the FBI before she attends any congressional hearing or "interrogation" into her accusations. In response, Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, who said Ford is still invited to speak to the committee, countered that "nothing the FBI or any other investigator does would have any bearing on what Dr. Ford tells the committee, so there is no reason for any further delay.” Lisa Banks, one of Ford´s lawyers,

History does repeat itself. Back in 1991, a college professor named Anita Hill accused Supreme Court nominee Clarence Thomas of sexual misconduct that she claimed had occurred many years before. The accusation came at the last minute, after lengthy hearings that had shown Thomas in a highly positive light. Senators took the charges seriously, even though Thomas, who is black, said during his nationally televised confirmation hearing that the charges amounted to “a high tech lynching.” Now it’s happening again, with Professor Christine Blasey Ford’s accusation that Judge Brett Kavanaugh drunkenly tried to rape her when they were both teenagers

It’s hard to remember a moment when America has been enjoying such peace and prosperity while at the same time our political conversation has been so acrid.
