Rest in peace, Lindsey Graham
Washington Post, by Dana Milbank

Original Article

Posted By:MissMolly, 9/1/2018 5:34:34 AM

We lost two mavericks within a week. On Saturday, we lost the legendary John McCain. On Tuesday, we lost his loyal sidekick, Sen. Lindsey O. Graham. Graham remains alive and well, but after serving for two decades as Robin to McCain’s Batman, Graham buried whatever remained of his own reputation for iconoclasm even before his partner’s funeral. On Tuesday, Graham took a seat on the couch of “Fox & Friends,” President Trump’s favorite show, and sealed his transition from apostate to Trump apparatchik. “Word of caution to the public,” he said. “A lot of people try to convict President Trump.

If you ever need to know who the RINOs are, just ask the left ... they know the players on their team. No name was the quarterback. Graham was his wide receiver.
I have been learning a lot about the team by watching the tributes.

Maybe Graham is finally seeing the light. Hopefully he will now be more independent. McCain was a bad influence on the senate. He appeared to be a bully.

All that gushing over McCain and all the accolades for this pitiful, venal man turned me completely off, so I turned the news completely off. As for Graham, I still don’t know who he is.

Lindsey needs to hitch his wagon to another star now that McCain is dead. Lindsey is attempting to reposition himself in a way that is most advantageous to him. It has nothing to do with principle, as usual.

I am amazed that when the evil spell that McCain had on him seemed to disperse a few months ago, Sen Graham seemed to wake up, come to his senses and notice that Trump is fixing a lot of our problems.

It amazes me that so few can look around and see the good things that are happening. Kudos to those few who can see, and can change their minds. So many are incapable of adjusting based on facts.

If Sen Graham is actually going to work for the good of America, then welcome to the team.

For Kavanaugh fight, news media

When the New York Times launched an ad campaign after Trump´s inauguration proclaiming truth is “ more important now than ever,” we rolled our eyes. The truth is always important. No White House resident changes that. But with a lifetime appointment to the Supreme Court on the line and allegations of sexual assault rattling the nation’s capital, the truth really is more important now than on many other occasions. A substantial number of major news outlets are not rising to the occasion. Under pressure from not least the opposed forces of their ideological agenda on the one hand

Democratic Sen. Tammy Baldwin´s campaign listed Brett Kavanaugh accuser´s attorneys as headliners at a Washington fundraiser slated to take place next month, according to a copy of the invite obtained by CNN. Kavanaugh´s accuser, Christine Blasey Ford, is being represented by attorneys Debra Katz and Lisa Banks, both of whom are listed as headliners in a "cocktails and conversation" event for Baldwin, a Wisconsin Democrat who is facing re-election this fall. People are asked to contribute up to $1,000 to attend the October 1 event, and a source familiar

Citing “sources,” Fox News’ Shannon Bream reports on the demands Christine Blasey Ford and her legal team are making as a condition for her testifying about her allegations against Brett Kavanaugh: Ford team wants NO questions from lawyers, only Qs from Committee members, #Kavanaugh cannot be in the room, Kavanaugh must testify FIRST – more to come … These demands are absurd. No questions from lawyers? I guess Ford wants to be able to claim she’s being persecuted by an all-white-male panel. She doesn’t want a woman to examine her, which I imagine is what the Republicans have in mind. But effective cross-examination

News organizations would render a valuable service if, whenever they report that someone has taken or proposes to take a polygraph, they reminded readers (or explained to them) that polygraphs are voodoo. Junk science. They are no more reliable than a pack of Tarot cards. Polygraph evidence is inadmissible in court. There is a good reason for that. To check Brett Kavanaugh’s qualifications for the Supreme Court, Congress would do well to ask him whether he believes Frye v. United States and United States v. Scheffer were correctly decided. This would be far more illuminating (and meaningful)

Watching the slow, public evisceration of U.S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh by Senate Democrats —on the strength of one unsubstantiated charge of alleged sexual aggression 36 years ago when Kavanaugh was in high school — a question comes to mind: Have you no sense of decency, Sen. Feinstein? Decency was once an important feature of the Democratic Party’s story. Long before Bork became a verb, long before Clarence Thomas was dragged through the mud because a conservative black man proved a profound threat to Democrats, the party held fast to the notion of decency.

A nation gawks as Washington sinks deeper into the muck, but put aside your disgust long enough to digest what we’re seeing. Three big things are on display. First, Democrats are proving again that their force multiplier is a win-or-die zealotry. They were on a mission to kill anybody President Trump chose to replace retiring Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy and, within minutes of Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination, Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer announced he would fight Kavanaugh “with everything I have.” All 10 Dems on the Judiciary Committee pledged to vote no.

History does repeat itself. Back in 1991, a college professor named Anita Hill accused Supreme Court nominee Clarence Thomas of sexual misconduct that she claimed had occurred many years before. The accusation came at the last minute, after lengthy hearings that had shown Thomas in a highly positive light. Senators took the charges seriously, even though Thomas, who is black, said during his nationally televised confirmation hearing that the charges amounted to “a high tech lynching.” Now it’s happening again, with Professor Christine Blasey Ford’s accusation that Judge Brett Kavanaugh drunkenly tried to rape her when they were both teenagers
