Trump Policies Push Obamacare Rates Down
American Spectator, by David Catron

Original Article

The Democrats and the media have repeatedly accused President Trump and the GOP Congress of “sabotaging” Obamacare, claiming that changes to the “Affordable Care Act” would result in unprecedented premium hikes in 2019. In July, for example, Nancy Pelosi made the following claim: “Their latest assault on health care will significantly increase premiums for millions of hard-working American families across the nation.” (Snip) It goes without saying that the Democrats and the “news” media were deliberately attempting to mislead the public. In reality, 2019 will be the first year ever in which Obamacare premiums

Clearly, absent the ability to eliminate this hideous mess, the second best is to minimize the harm. Removing the requirement to purchase, and offering other alternatives is the best that could be done with McHate still voting in the Senate.

Some people´s hatred of Trump requires them to put the worst possible spin on all news items, without regard to facts.

If the Senate won´t kill Obamacare - and it came down entirely to one hateful, spiteful, lying Senator from Arizona, it must be that "Trump is trying to save it"? Ridiculous California "logic".

Such transparently counterfactual comments reveal either entirely dysfunctional data processing or intentional dissembling.

So it looks like Michael Avenatti has been busted for busting some woman’s face. The Los Angeles Police Department, not a Trump stronghold, arrested him on Wednesday on charges of felony domestic violence. According to TMZ, a publication that somehow not only breaks the inside scoops on these outlier celebrity incidents, but that also has emerged as a consistently more reliable and trustworthy source of honest news than are CNN or other Left Media outlets, Pornography’s Lawyer is alleged to have left his alleged victim with a “swollen and bruised” face punctuated by “red marks” on both her cheeks.

´Nelson has no path´: Democrats

Sen. Bill Nelson has run out of time, run out of favorable court rulings and is about to officially run out of votes. After losing to Gov. Rick Scott on Election Day, losing after an automatic recount and appearing to not make up the gap following a manual recount Friday, Nelson’s campaign was dealt a mortal blow later that evening by U.S. District Judge Mark E. Walker, who crushed the Democrat’s last major hope by upholding a Florida law that forbids county election offices from counting vote-by-mail ballots received after 7 p.m. Election Day.“It’s done.

Sen. Bill Nelson has no viable path to winning a recount of ballots in Florida’s U.S. Senate race, but he´s still refusing to concede. Nelson, a Democrat who has held the seat since 2000, remains about 12,600 votes behind Republican Gov. Rick Scott after a machine recount concluded Thursday. Neither an ongoing hand recount nor an extended deadline for rejected mail-in ballots is likely to produce enough votes to put Nelson on top. But he’s not giving up.“I truly believe we can win this race together,” Nelson told supporters in a fundraising email Friday.

A truer examination of a serious American problem could not be had. In his new book, Ship of Fools: How a Selfish Ruling Class Is Bringing America to the Brink of Revolution, Tucker Carlson gets to the heart of the seriously bad situation that confronts America. Ship of Fools is, says the opening flap of the book, “the story of the new American elites, a group whose power and wealth has grown beyond imagination even as the rest of the country has withered. The people who run America now barely interact with it.

Years ago, years and years ago, actually, while attending basic training for the U.S. Army, one of my drill sergeants allowed a couple of the female recruits to cheat on the firearms’ range test and to report more targets than they actually hit. The awareness that even drill sergeants cheat came as a bit of a shock at the time, not because I was particularly naive — not because my own past was so polly pure that it made it inconceivable to picture anybody cheating — but because, well, these were drill sergeants, for crying out loud.

Just hours after Jeff Sessions resigned as attorney general last Wednesday at the president’s behest, #TheResistance found its newest target for destruction: Sessions’ interim replacement, Matthew Whitaker. Negative coverage about the acting attorney general has dominated national publications and cable news outlets. Reporters have portrayed Whitaker as a Trump lackey, a crackpot, and an “attack dog”; Democratic leaders are demanding that he recuse himself from overseeing Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation; on Tuesday, incoming House Intelligence Committee chairman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) warned that if Whitaker fails to step aside from the probe, “his actions will be exposed.”

In the early evening following the midterm elections, Fox News host Tucker Carlson’s wife was home alone when she suddenly became startled by a loud thumping at her door. The thumping came from a group of Antifa radicals, whose desire it was to strike terror into the hearts of Mr. Carlson’s family. Susan Carlson ran upstairs as the mob of vigilantes that CNN prefers to refer to as “protesters,” screamed disgusting threats at the Carlson residence, spray-painted the driveway and continued to try to force entry through the front door, which they broke. Clinton Claims Abrams Was Robbed In GA

Tuesday evening Hillary Clinton told a crowd that Stacey Abrams, the apparent loser in Georgia’s recent gubernatorial election, would have won the race if not for Republican chicanery. She claimed—without evidence, to use a term much beloved of the media lately—that the “people on the other side” were guilty of undermining the rights of Georgia voters: Stacey is really in the arena and she is fighting for the right to vote and have your vote counted … If she had a fair election, she already would have won.

A frequent complaint from reasonable Americanos is that political races and the annoying campaigns that accompany them last waaaay too long. Sometimes it seems they’re a permanent feature of our public landscape. Now it has become reasonable to object that election vote counting is too lengthy and tortuous as well. Take what’s happening in Florida. Please. The Middle Ages eventually ended. So do the NBA playoffs. Heck, even Fidel Castro’s speeches came to their exhausting ends. But will the Florida elections? Who will be first in with their results and conclusions? Florida or the Mueller investigation?

At this writing, the Senate and gubernatorial race results in Florida are officially in recount chaos, having triggered the “Election Lawyers’ Full Employment Act.” Surely, HBO is anticipating a sequel to "Recount," its 2008 movie about the state’s dramatic 2000 presidential election recount (starring Kevin Spacey with “hanging chads” in a supporting role). Eighteen years later, there is more high-stakes post-election drama because Florida is as politically split now as it was when Bush v. Gore transfixed the nation. As a Florida resident, I also know that the state relishes its center stage role as the largest presidential swing state,

The appointment of Matthew Whitaker as acting attorney general of the United States this week has raised a chorus of objections over what is viewed as an effort by President Trump to gain control over and possibly scuttle the investigation of special counsel Robert Mueller. Many have cited Whitaker’s past comments criticizing the investigation as evidence of such a nefarious design. But what if the greatest threat to Mueller is not Whitaker’s personal views but Whitaker’s government position? As an official who was not confirmed by the Senate to serve in the Justice Department, Whitaker could prove to be a

Cicero is remembered today as a great Roman orator, but few recall that he was a lawyer by trade. In fact, he first rose to public prominence by using his rhetorical skills to secure the acquittal of a man accused of patricide. Cicero’s eloquence eventually enabled him to rise to the rank of Consul, in which capacity he presided over the execution without trial of five Senators. He was exiled for this unlawful act and, at length, was himself illegally executed. There’s a lesson here for the Democrats who increasingly employ lubricious lawyers to circumvent the rule of law.

It has been speculated that Mitt Romney’s Utah Senate seat could serve as a prelude to another Presidential run. In the most ambitious version of events, he could even challenge Donald Trump in the 2020 primaries, newly legitimized and augmented by his actions in the Capitol Building. This would allow moderate Republicans to reclaim their party’s mantle and unroot alt-right influences. But would Romney do it? His willingness to unequivocally challenge Trump could be seen either as a pro or con by Republicans, depending on their opinions of the sitting president.

To look back at the moment John Kerry entered US public life, addressing the Senate foreign relations committee on 22 April 1971, is to be struck by many things. There are the famous words, of course: “How do you ask a man to be the last man to die in Vietnam? How do you ask a man to be the last man to die for a mistake?” There is the shock of dark, Beatles-inspired hair, the distinctly British-tinged accent. Above all, there is the self-possession. Championing the cause of the poor, Pope Francis on Sunday lamented that "the wealthy few" enjoy what, "in justice, belongs to all" and said Christians cannot remain indifferent to the growing cries of the exploited and the indigent, including migrants. Francis invited about 6,000 poor people as well as some of the volunteers who help them to the splendor of St. Peter´s Basilica where he celebrated Mass on a day the Catholic Church dedicates to the needy. Later, he sat down with 1,500 of the indigent for a lunch of lasagna, chicken, mashed potatoes and tiramisu in a Vatican auditorium.

So CNN’s Jim Acosta scored some court points with a ruling that orders the White House to give back his press pass, at least for the time being. But he still presents as a smug elitist. He presented as an out-of-touch elitist the day he jerked away from the arm of the reaching White House intern — the day he refused to cede the microphone and cede the floor and cede his time to the many other journalists who were patiently waiting to pose questions to the president.
