Old-school eulogy at Aretha

DETROIT -- A fiery, old-school eulogist at the funeral of Aretha Franklin fell flat for many in the crowd and prompted a social media uproar when he declared "black America has lost its soul," black women are incapable of raising sons alone and the Black Lives Matter movement is unfounded in the face of black-on-black crime. (Snip) As he wended his way through the need for more African Americans to return to church and more men to return to their families, the heat turned up online, with younger people declaring rhetoric such as that of Williams is why they left

Predictably yahoo ridiculed him, called him "old-school" and claimed twitter stormed against him. In fact, telling hard truths is what a preacher is supposed to do. As opposed to the easy lies that people like Jesse Jackson and Dem political leaders tell. Interestingly, almost all the reactions on yahoo agree with and congratulate the preacher. yahoo will likely remove the comment section.

I read one time that funerals are not necessarily for the deceased person, but for the living ones there.

There is really no call for politicizing a sober celebrating of life service a la a "Wellstone memorial". Aretha´s life is a great example of celebration in itself!

Why are so many ashamed of the truth???

"Guess who´s perpetuating all of these kinds of actions?" Sen. Mazie Hirono explained, boiling down the Senate Democrats´ position on Brett Kavanaugh. "It´s the men in this country. I just want to say to the men in this country, just shut up. And step up. Do the right thing for a change." Demanding an entire gender "just shut up" because it shares in a collective guilt borne of the actions perpetrated by a few people who share their biological features is a pretty ugly notion for anyone to be voicing, much less someone charged with defending the Constitution. The numbers: Household and nonprofit net worth rose by $2.19 trillion in the second quarter, the Federal Reserve announced Thursday. That represents a seasonally adjusted annual rise of 2.1% to $106.93 trillion, driven in part by gains in the stock market as well as in the value of real estate. What happened: As the economic cycle grows older — and as the real estate sector bemoans a lack of available homes that has driven up house prices — household net worth continues to gain. It’s important to stress that the Fed report doesn’t represent the experience for the typical

Shocking. Humiliating. Just plain not great. That´s how Democrats describe losing a long-held South Texas state Senate seat to upstart conservative Pete Flores on Tuesday night. The Republican win was historic, the first GOP victory there since just after the Civil War, but the implications stretch far beyond the district. (Snip) The Texas Democratic Party blamed Gov. As I´ve said many times over, I do not know whether Brett Kavanaugh´s accuser is acting in good or bad faith, nor does virtually anyone else. She could be lying. He could be lying. Or they could both be telling what they firmly believe to be the truth, based on an array of faulty, hazy or false memories. What matters now is how we assess the available evidence, of which there is precious little. Earlier, I laid out my own attempt at erecting some reasonable, if imperfect, metrics for doing just that.
