Ditto #10 - how do you pronounce the middle name? Tiggy? Teeg? And can we see a photo soon?
And Lucy's a good name. Old-fashioned, and there won't be six others in her kindergarten class.

15,
I think it's "Teeg" -- I had a girlfriend in college who's brother-in-law (?) had the last name, McTigue (Irish, no doubt!) or was it McTighe -- I never actually saw it in print, anyway, that was pronounced: Mc-Teeg.

I see trees of green, red roses too
I see them bloom for me and you
And I say to myself
What wonderful world
I see skies of blue and clouds of white
Bright sunny days, dark sacred nights
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world
The colors of the rainbow are so pretty in the skies
Are also on the faces of people walking by
I see friends shaking hands saying
How do you do?
They're really saying
I love you
I see babies cry, I watch them grow
They'll learn much more than I'll ever know
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world
Yes, I think to myself
What a wonderful world
And I say to myself
What a wonderful world

Such wonderful news on a day it's much needed!
I'm sending a contribution to this wonderful site in her name.
God bless her, and may she grow to understand His unconditional love and His Fatherhood by the example of her own Daddy.

Congrats. The only regret is that it should have been Luci with the I. I was just reading the Frum article in the last issue of NRODT and realized that in terms of rushing things, Jonah rushed to fatherhood (including the gestation period) far faster than the US has rushed to war against Iraq (just to tie the blessed event into world news, as you always exhort us to do).

Lucy Tighe:
On the day that you were born
The angels came together
And decided to create a dream come true
So they sprinkled golddust in your hair
And golden starlight in your eyes
And there were you.

I didn't know there would be a thread for this occasion so I already sent congrats to Lucianne. I know she must be "bustin' with pride and love."

Angels come in all sized packages!!! This one weighs 7 and 10!!!!
I am sending a HUGE virtual teddy bear and a virtual hand-crocheted pink, yellow, and white baby afgan for the little princess. Give her a kiss for me on the back of her neck, just below her hairline (the best place to kiss a baby, IMHO )

What a lovely gift for you Lucianne!! My daughter was the first grandchild and she was so spoiled by her grandparents but she has turned into a lovely lady. I bet you will do the same thing. Nice to have another conservative in the US.

The Irish pronounce Tighe -'tie' like bow tie
--so tell us Lucianne--the origin of little miss Lucy's middle name!
and here's her birth day tribute from the fabulous Thomas Traherne
Wonder
How like an angel came I down!
How bright are all things here!
When first among His works I did appear,
Oh, how their glory did me crown!
The world resembled His eternity,
In which my soul did walk;
And ev'rything that I did see
Did with me talk.
The skies in their magnificence,
The lovely lively air,
Oh, how divine, how soft, how sweet, how fair!
The stars did entertain my sense,
And all the works of God so bright and pure,
So rich and great, did seem,
As if they ever must endure
In my esteem.
A native health and innocence
Within my bones did grow,
And while my God did all His glories show,
I felt a vigor in my sense
That was all spirit; I within did flow
With seas of life like wine;
I nothing in the world did know,
But 'twas divine.
Harsh rugged objects were concealed;
Oppressions, tears, and cries,
Sins, griefs, complaints, dissensions, weeping eyes,
Were hid, and only things revealed
Which heavenly spirits and the angels prize:
The state of innocence
And bliss, not trades and poverties,
Did fill my sense.
The streets seemed paved with golden stones,
The boys and girls all mine --
To me how did their lovely faces shine!
The sons of men all holy ones,
In joy and beauty then appeared to me;
And ev'rything I found,
While like an angel I did see,
Adorned the ground.
Rich diamonds, and pearl, and gold
Might ev'rywhere be seen;
Rare colors, yellow, blue, red, white, and green,
Mine eyes on ev'ry side behold;
All that I saw a wonder did appear,
Amazement was my bliss,
That and my wealth met ev'rywhere;
No joy to this!
Cursed, ill-devised proprieties,
With envy, avarice,
And fraud, those fiends that spoil ev'n paradise,
Were not the object of mine eyes;
Nor hedges, ditches, limits, narrow bounds,
I dreamt not aught of those,
But in surveying all men's grounds
I found repose.
For property itself was mine,
And hedges, ornaments,
Walls, houses, coffers, and their rich contents,
To make me rich combine.
Clothes, costly jewels, laces, I esteemed
My wealth, by others worn,
For me they all to wear them seemed,
When I was born.
Thomas Traherne

It is indeed pronounced "Tie"...I knew a guy at my college job whose last name was "Tighe". Beautiful name, Lucy Tighe.
Will she be called Lucy, or Lucy Tighe, the whole thing? I'm a Southun' gal where double names are the THING, ya know.
