I liked that 'wonder-working-power' bit too. Hey, Pat Caddell, Democrat, called it a 'helluva' speech. Donna Brazile (who looks fantastic, btw) called it 'powerful'.

I'm not worried about some DU sitepest who hasn't got a clue what's going on.

Classic Reaganesque supply side econ: run up big spending on the military while cutting taxes; pay for it with lots of Fed Reserve FOMC T-bill selling; boost the econ with borrowed money; crowd out investment borrowing/raising interest rates; jobless recovery short-term; big money for the rich now while line level workers remain unemployed or at jobs that pay less than jobs before.

Course the econ gets bigger and more revenue is raised, but in the long term. The deficits will be huge but when the econ grows they will remain within the historical percentage of the GDP/Nat'l Debt ratio. Our kids will pay this off sometime down the road.

More and more it seems Dubya plans on being a one term President. He's fixing the mess left by Clinton, finishing unfinished business w/ Saddam from his Dad, and setting us up for a great economy, but seven to twelve years from now.

This limp economy and Gov. Locke's class warfare rhetoric RESONATES with people, folks!

How will Dubya be reelected in 2004? Does he even want to be?

Reply 4 - Posted by: de danann, 1/28/2003 10:57:15 PM

pomom--all the usual Dimo suspects looked like they were 'a quart low' on the vodka

donna q --you noticed Mc Vain too...
verily, he looked like the Grim Reaper --dressed in black like the Dimos...
w/ a white mask face--like that horror movie villain on 'Scary Movie'

Kerrey's face was as long and miserable as a wet week

Hellary's mugs and behaviours were as rude and sour and hateful as ever--she learns nothing from nobody nohow

SJL stayed on her big can--i saw no applause from her

allegra--agree W looks exhausted

Gov. Locke's rebuttal was hopelessly out of synch w/ what W actually said
-he did look like hellary's scared judasgoat

The President's conclusion was moving:

*Americans are a resolute people, who have risen to every test of our time. Adversity has revealed the character of our country, to the world, and to ourselves. America is a strong Nation, and honourable in the use of our strength. We exercise power without conquest, and sacrifice for the liberty of strangers*

Amen Halleluia

Homebychoice, thanks! Yes, I was asking for more info about Dashole's vile remarks, but I appreciate the synopsis of the president's speech! Good memory you have!

Reply 6 - Posted by: Mrs M, 1/28/2003 10:57:42 PM

The same idiots that were screeching about 'how come they didn't connect the dots before the attack on 9/11' now are screeching 'how DARE you strike pre-emptively' when the dots ARE being connected! Can't have it both ways, you know. We ARE the world's policeman even if we don't want to be. Just who else is equipped to deal with tyrants like Hussein? The rest of them will hold our coat, carp and complain while we do their dirty work. Where were they protesting while we bombed Yugoslavia? This was a GREAT speech ... and the main reason is that the speaker isn't a lying piece of garbage and he actually BELIEVES in something greater than himself OR his party.

Reply 7 - Posted by: PatrickHenry599, 1/28/2003 10:57:52 PM

Kennedy says ' things have changed.' He is right --- the American voters kicked the democrats a$$ and now they are on the outside looking in. Get used to it Chappy, President Bush and the Republican House and Senate control the future of our great country!!

Reply 8 - Posted by: Magnus, 1/28/2003 10:57:55 PM

Disappointed about the Save The AIDS initiative to the Irresponsible African Nations. This was made to appease the Congressional Black Caucus and is a LOSE, LOSE, LOSE situation. Throwing HARD EARNED Tax Payers money at it will not correct the problem. Adopting a HEALTHY MORAL CODE of Self Control inclusive of accountable self responsibility and adhering to abstinence is the only 100% way of combating AIDS! It's that simple!

As far as Locke's response, it was typical Progressive Demoncat double speak. The problem of the Shrinking of the Surplus-OVERTAXATION, and how ALL AMERICANS deserve a TAX Break. Well, yes ALL TAX PAYING AMERICANS DESERVE a Tax Break, NOT ALL NON TAX PAYING AMERICANS! Everyone here KNOWS that ths is nothing else, other than a disguised TRANSFER of WEALTH!

Wookie, thanks for a reminder of the Reagan quote in post #33 in thread 3 . . . it's my new screensaver.

So, the Republicans have Bush, and the Dems have . . . sad-sack Kerry?
Yikes.

Keen observation about Bush's appearance, Allegra - he did look tired, didn't he?

Reply 11 - Posted by: Zeebadee, 1/28/2003 10:59:59 PM

I thought it was a pretty weak speech over all. We're going to lower taxes, do away with taxing capital gains, do more for the environment, give more free medical care and prescription drug coverage, develop hydrogen powered cars, save the entire continent of Africa from AIDS, and lower the deficit all at the same time. We all know that most of this just isn't gonna happen! I thought the SOTU speech was supposed to be non-fiction. I was disappointed and was hoping for something better than flag-waving and pie-in-the-sky fantasies.

Oysterhaven:
Thanks for the AOL poll results [Thread 3]. I think we are obviously dealing with a President who understands the heartbeat of the Nation.
I did not hear anything additional about the President addressing a joint session of Congress following Sec. Powell's UN trip.

Reply 13 - Posted by: Ruskin, 1/28/2003 11:00:10 PM

Wow: he's good.

After 8 years of presiding over a back seat makeout session, the Demos look like rodeo clowns.

Powerful speech when he talked about Iraq: the silence and tension were palpable.

Reply 14 - Posted by: amereagle, 1/28/2003 11:00:29 PM

''The course of this nation does not depend on the actions of others.''

Exactly. Spoken like the Real American President Bush is. America will LEAD the world, not be bullied by it.

Kennedy and Daschle spent the "after" talks going on and on about how we must put the U.N. first: that was vaguely annoying before 9-11. Today, it is Treason.

Just think about this:

* The most attractive candidates that the dims are PIAPS, Edwards and Kerry, a very photogenic and charming bunch. As Mama always said, beauty is only skin deep, but ugly goes all the way to the bone.
* The dims brain trust consists of Teddy, Tiny Tommy, PIAPS and Pelosi--that is what, a combined IQ of 35?
* The dims can't forget about raising taxes to save themselves from extinction.

BTW: Where was little Dickie G, I never saw him?

President Bush made a spectacular speech. It was the best SOTU speech I have ever heard. His tone was 100% on-target. His words were like music. Hillary's dark scowl was the perfect chiuroscuro counterpoint. I enjoyed every word and felt a great awe of this man.

Magnificent, President Bush!!!!!!!!

The president gave an excellent speech on ecomomic and foreign affairs. We are truly blessed to be led by this man.

I enjoyed the reaction of the Rat party. They had their heads handed to them. I hope they enjoyed looking into their lifeless eyes.

Reply 23 - Posted by: allegra, 1/28/2003 11:04:22 PM

#8 - didn't you post that already?

I'm not disappointed with the AIDS initiative. For one thing, if we can help, we should - 15 billion out of our pockets, over 5 years is a drop in the bucket compared to what we're used to spending, and it's what Jesus would do. I thought the president's sincere and moving oration on that issue is good for how America is percieved abroad. We need to cut pork, but saving lives isn't pork.

#3 - Reaganomics worked before; it will work again. Have faith. Bush is working with a much more hatefilled bunch of people than any president previous...he can only do so much.

Fineman made a point of saying that 'in the end' the dems will have no choice but to follow Bush, because the ultimatum that he gave them - to wait until something happens and then try to cast blame - will chill them into going along with it. THEY will not want to hear that they kept us from taking out Saddam while we could.

The President should have looked Fat Hillary and Fat Teddy in the face and said, "A number of years ago one of our US Presidents said 'A rising tide lifts all boats.' REMEMBER THAT? It's true. Hence, my tax package will give ALL Americans more of their hard earned $$ to keep, and to spend, and pretty soon you WILL see 'Help Wanted' signs in every window on Main Street just to keep up with business. That means more tax revenues, more $ for the individual states' coffers.... You get it, don't you?"

Reply 28 - Posted by: mwild, 1/28/2003 11:05:57 PM

I think that a lof the Democrats were in shock. I don't think they were expecting most of what they heard. GWB cut their legs out from under them and what we are hearing from them now is desperate damage control.

Reply 29 - Posted by: mws50, 1/28/2003 11:06:13 PM

Geez.... Let me try this again. Hopefully this thread won't be closed before I'm able to post............ thus losing everything I had typed up.............

Channel 26 in Houston went to League City to "interview" a group of people watching the President. These imbeciles stated that Bush never did anything he said he would do, Bush had to go before he destroyed out Nation, and he never made the case for the war against Iraq. You would think that the Fox affiliate in Houston would have let us know that they went to the Democratic Party of League City to get their response, but NO....... They pretended that it was the "home" of some normal everyday people.

Fox 26 just provided MORE proof that jounalism is the dumbest profession on this planet.

Also, did anyone else notice that ABCNNBCBS trotted out tons of socialists and liberals to "refute" our President......

Is there any doubt that all of our alleged "press" needs to be taken out back and shot?

Reply 30 - Posted by: TheMotherCO, 1/28/2003 11:06:18 PM

John McCain has this huge scar on his left cheek - not a good sign with melanoma - it just doesn't give up. He did stand and act like a Pubbie. Kudos, little ones, for that.
I did notice that GW turned his back on Daschle as he was leaving and did NOT shake his hand and several others. Fat ted was still probably trying to stand up. Can we say a liquid dinner? I thought we could!!
Who of you all REALLY watched that idiot's rebuttal? Sounded kind of like some of the pests on this site. Poor dims, they cain't hep themselves, they were born with no brains!

Yes 52% 10529 votes
No 48% 9558 votes
Total: 20,087 votes

Get over there people! Tell the appeaser Commies how Real Americans REALLY feel.

46% · Economy 32,482
33% · Iraq conflict 23,074
20% · War on terror 13,954

You will notice they split items one and two; otherwise, it would have been 53% for fighting terrorism including Iraq..

W.'s tone -- the person-to-person tone and low volume -- was very effective in the foreign policy part of the speech.

I like what he is doing and what he is advocating.

He is a good man; and tough.

His critics are having a really hard time.

Thank you W. and family and associates! A great team.

#26 - good post but I don't think teddy understands about rising tides...I seem to remember reading he has problems wtih tides...

Reply 37 - Posted by: SallyVee, 1/28/2003 11:10:45 PM

W struck just the right tone. It was excellent from beginning to end.

He knocked the tar out of Bubba in the first or second paragraph: 'we will not pass our problems on to the next president or the next congress.'

Later, he knocked Hitlery's buck teeth down her throat with his emphatic declaration that socialized health care is not the answer--under ANY circumstances.

He moved on to Edwards with

Hitlery sat directly behind the four reps of our armed services--disgusting--and directly next to Joe Lieberman. Her face is aging and morphing so fast it's frightening. I never saw a closeup, but even from a distance I could see that she's developed a tick on the right side of her face. (That would be the good side, if she had one, and it is experiencing the throes of a tortured death.)

Later he nailed Edwards with remarks about Trial Lawyers--'no frivolous lawsuit ever healed anyone.'

When he got to Iraq and other rogue nations, you could hear a pin drop and W's voice changed perceptibly. He was dead serious and I doubt any human being watching missed it.

At the end he acknowledged, thanked, and credited our God Almighty. The angels smiled.

Wookie, I'll always love you for the photo of W you posted back in Thread #3. You captured him.

Slam dunk.

It was a homerun for Bush and a shut-out for the Democrats. Totally, they were shut out and up. Way to go, Dubya. Keep them fools writing speech ahead of time that cannot rebutt anything you say, because they have no idea what you will say. I love it when nuts are kept in their shells.

Reply 40 - Posted by: blindqu, 1/28/2003 11:12:20 PM

Hate to say this, but it is true. The farther away you get from NYC, the less concerned people are about terrorist attacks. It seems that people in the middle of the country and out west have a "won't happen to me" attitude. How do I know? I've travelled from one end of the country to the other since the week after the attack on the WTC. Dems are using this to their "advantage". I believe they really want another attack so they can "solve the problems". And lest we forget, they even tried to say that Bush should have done something to prevent 9/11 in the first place. So now he does, and they complain about it. Go figure.

Reply 41 - Posted by: usmcsarge, 1/28/2003 11:13:00 PM

#1. - Gov Locke, as a rising star, blew it.

#2. - YOUGIVEMEAHEADACHE, er, I mean GIVEMEFREEDOM (from last thread): I've read your juvenile and tiresome posts for some time. Is this recent one the best you can do? Osama bin Laden is laughing his head off because the speech was so bad? Please. This is so sophomoric. Oh, by the way, Osama was killed last december, didn't you know that? (8% for sure. bet on it.

#3. - He looked tired or exhausted? naturally. Look at pictures of every President at war. The burdens of office, the decisions to be made, etc are crushing. For this man, we have unprecidented obstructionism and BS from the Dems to add to the pot. of course he's tired (of it all).

Oh man! We’re burnin’ the circuits here! Hope the new server can handle all the enthusiasm of us Ldotters. I haven’t finished reading here, but it’s sounding great so far. Love the idea of circulating this thread amongst congress and Senate.

Bush nearly got me crying when he talked about how he realized the cost of war in the loss of lives and looked directly at the military personnel. But there was one guy in the audience who’s expression seemed to say, ''I am so proud to have this man as my Commander-In-Chief.''

That lo-o-o-ng applause for the military – that is because Bush allowed it to continue, not trying to grab attention for himself. He had rightly pointed in the direction of the military to honor them for their service. Those men and women will not let us down.

A final thought from a person with grammatical instincts in an ungrammatical world: Maybe Bush doesn’t have the perfect mastery of oratory but he sure knows the lexicon of the people who make America work and he knows how to speak to the heart, because he speaks FROM his heart. And his heart is truly devoted to God. May God bless him richly.

Oh, I'm listening to the warm and lovely voice of Peggy Noonan right now. I'm going to float to heaven at this rate.

Reply 45 - Posted by: JemMAC, 1/28/2003 11:16:08 PM

Hey, I'll take a tired Bush before a well-rested Al Gore any day . . .

Then again - sorta like Kerry - how can one tell when Gore is "well-rested", or merely awake?

Peggy Noonan just compared Bush to Teddy Roosevelt . . .

And, next year - would someone please give Ted Kennedy some No-Doze?

Reply 46 - Posted by: TheMotherCO, 1/28/2003 11:16:33 PM

I heartily disliked Juan Williams remark about GW looking "human". Now, if we get every man jack working on Juan, maybe we can make HIM look human.
Peggy Noonan was on with Hannity and Combs(sp) and raving about the speech - about damn time she got off her high horse. She said she heard his thoughts and they were wonderful. So different than slick.

I live deep in the heartland of America--Tulsa, OK and we take terrorism very seriously here. Remember OKC, we By God do. We also do not believe that little timmy mcveigh acted alone without help and money from terrorists abroad. That whole investigation was bungled and mismanaged by el reno and bj to gain political advantage. Don't tell us that we do not believe that it can happpen to us, we for durn sure know better than that.

Reply 48 - Posted by: Homebychoice, 1/28/2003 11:19:18 PM

#30 TheMotherCo, I noticed President Bush's post-speech reaction to Daschle as well. Last year after SOTU Daschle followed President Bush up the aisle uncomfortably closely so as to be in every departing photo. I wonder if someone in the Dub Camp may have remembered that. I noticed he was closely followed this time by members of his cabinet.

Reply 53 - Posted by: Gatsby, 1/28/2003 11:22:56 PM

Weighing in with more support for the President. I thought it was a beautiful speech, one that defined our country in the broadest and best of terms. I caught Juan Williams' remarks and had no trouble with his observation...he is just late to discover what a compassionate and sincere man the President is. The Democrats should be ashamed with their low class bashing, it is one thing to disagree, but because they lack anything constructive to say, they simply resort to bashing.

Reply 54 - Posted by: Travis McGee, 1/28/2003 11:23:27 PM

Great speech and as usual great posts, except those few from the site stains. It is crystal clear now that military action will happen in the very near future I'm guessing within the next two weeks. The faces on those preparing for it were quite illustrative of the seriousness of their task. May God provide them with wisdom.

Reply 55 - Posted by: daphne, 1/28/2003 11:23:35 PM

I watched on C-Span and they showed Lady Laura when President Bush was speaking to the military. Her eyes were filled with tears, and she patted the arm of the Air Force lady next to her.

I agree that the President looks tired, and at the end of the speech, when he was speaking of the horrors of Iraq, he looked very old. But thank the Dear Lord that we have GWB as president. He is literally pouring out his life for this country.
We all need to pray for his safety.

Reply 56 - Posted by: Blue Moon, 1/28/2003 11:23:53 PM

Shock of the night: Donna Brazile LIKED it when the President says how we've put 3000 terrorists out of business! She fessed that she likes that strong talk, much to Chris Matthews' chagrin! Chris thinks that's too "cowboy", sorry Chris, most of us like that aspect of Bush. Pat Caddell is hyperventilating over Ashcroft, that surprises me a bit. He's usually more rational.

Reply 57 - Posted by: GOP_U_BET, 1/28/2003 11:24:22 PM

I personally think that W turned his back on tiny tommy so he would not have to breathe in the miasma of decaying political hopes and dreams that surrounds tiny tommy. I posted earlier that I thought tiny tommy's face had all the warmth and charm of a poorly embalmed corpse and I stick by that assessment.

Yes, he does look tired, and rightfully so.

He is not a man that lives for the polls or desires love of himself above all else, as with our previous narcissist in chief. However, hearing all of the terrible news in the briefings every morning combined with the constant yapping of Tiny Tom, Hildebeast, et al would be enough to age any human being about a year per month.

I live in the heartland and I'm concerned about terrorism. Maybe it won't affect me physically but it will affect some of my fellow Americans physically. Economically it affects us all, but that isn't my biggest concern. But I remember 9/11, I wasn't there but fellow Americans were and killed. I care and don't want anything like that to happen again to anyone.

Acutally, bj and PIAPS bought into the story line of A Picture of Dorian Gray. Unfortunately the spell was not strong enogh and the pictures refused to take on countenances of that much venality, cruelty, and corruption.

Awesome Speech.......God Bless our President Bush........I loved the line from the Hymnal.....

*there is Power....Wonder-Working Power*....

Thank You Lord....

Re: the correct pronunciation of the greatest source of energy: I prefer NU-kler As in Nu-kler Po'er.

Did you catch the 1.2Billion that the President wants to allocate for research to replace the fuel source of the ICE? In My Humble Opion, that was the biggest surprise of the night.

What this country needs in a new Manhattan Project, a new Space Race. If the Federal Government gets in the business of developing the power source, the infrastructyure and the financial incentiuves to redefine the way America drives, we will take the most potent weapon right out of the hands of the arabs, we will deny them the floods of money that they currently collect for petroleum products. And we can help ourselves by producing the power to produce our fuel, hydrogen, domestically, from coal and nuclear energy.

Kick A$$ speech, better than the pundits will allow.

Love my Country, Love my President and am optomistic about the future.

Oh...just heard Matthews say Hillary is going to be talking to him. You don't have to watch it, I'll tell you what she'll say:

'You know, Chris, it was a good speech, and he gave us a little more information, but you know, the economy is in terrible shape and we have to deal with Korea and you know, the UN is important and you know..."

Reply 71 - Posted by: Homebychoice, 1/28/2003 11:33:04 PM

The President broke his tax initiatives down into very simple terms and anybody out there listening with a family of four and a $40,000 annual income has to realize that this is HUGE news for him, AND that the Democrats don't want him to have it because they have been pooping on it from the git-go.

As far as Juan Williams, I was DELIGHTED to hear him so moved by the President! If it moved him (and he hears political rhetoric ALL DAY) surely others would find it equally moving or even more so.

There's room for everybody on Dubya's bus. 'Cept the aisle goes down the left hand side so we can all sit on the RIGHT!!!!

A week from tomorrow, February 5th, is the day Powell tells the UN where the bear defficated in the buckwheat. Oh wonderful day! I never want to get in a poker game with W. I know I would lose the farm. He plays them close to the vest.

Allegra, your "impression" of Hillary is toooooooooo eerie. Geez, in my head, I could actually hear her voice as I read that.

Reply 75 - Posted by: Pam Torson, 1/28/2003 11:42:18 PM

Yes, I love that hymn. And if I remember correctly, he was speaking of the 'wonder-working' power of people working in faith-based initiatives.

Reply 76 - Posted by: Rhonda, 1/28/2003 11:43:11 PM

Allegra, how many uno's did the PIAPS say in a 30-second sentence?

Reply 77 - Posted by: LittleHoodedMonk, 1/28/2003 11:47:12 PM

I believe that President Bush 'may' be having a reaction to the smallpox vaccine he took recently. Laura looked just so pretty up in her area. The joint chiefs stood up when President Bush acknowledged HIS Armed Forces with' Your training has prepared you. Your honor will guide you. You believe in America, and America believes in you.' That was an electrifying statement. If he wants to spend $15 billion to combat AIDS in Africa, he could use money saved by pulling out of and removing the UN from our soil. The list of terrorist nations that are 'running' the place right now is staggering. The hydrogen powered car, with over a billion dollars for R&D does go against the argument that he's in the pockets of the oil industry, either in domestic or international policy. Ending the speech with a prayer, after envoking God was the perfect end to a masterful speech. It was both sad and discusting to see the dRATS play partican politics NOW as we are at the cusp of all out war with Iraq.

Reply 78 - Posted by: mamamoose, 1/28/2003 11:47:45 PM

To the poster who dd not see Dick Gephardt, he was on the aisle and stood nearly every time along with the republicans. He had a big smile at all times. John Kerry looked just like the big pickle that he is. George W, Bush is, as his mother so succinctly said, a better man than George H. W. Buxh. LOL I don't think he look so much tired as he did DETERMINED and serious, serious with a twinkle. I am waiting for 1/5 and then W's next talk to a joint session. (Hope PIAPS understands what that means). Good to be back on Lcom and thanks Lucianne and Amy and ALL the folks who have worked so hard to get this site in order.

Reply 79 - Posted by: DuvalCrawler, 1/28/2003 11:47:47 PM

Two observations: Kerry reminded me of the man in American Gothic -- I always hated that painting -- and PIAPS must have just been FUMING to be seated behind the Joint Chiefs. ROFLMAO!!!

I have never been so proud of a president in my life. W rocks!!!!!

Great words from a Great Man, for a Great Country

gives us to see the right, let us strive to finish the work we are in.

Lets Roll - in this war, those who cannot stay focused on fighting
the enemy are objectively pro-terrorist.

Reply 83 - Posted by: oniana5, 1/28/2003 11:51:19 PM

1)What is wrong with the way Bush says nuclear? Nothing!

2)I could have sworn Juan Williams was on the verge of tears when he said he was 'touched' by parts of the speech.

3)The majority of money going to Africa for AIDS will be for education. He made his case that the medicine went from $2000 a year to under $300 a year and that we CAN do something.

In all honesty, I would have been angry had Clinton proposed the money for Africa. But Clinton has proven himself to be untrustworthy and the consumate (sp) politian. In it only for himself. Bush had done NOTHING to show himself to be anything but sincere.

God has blessed this nation with GWB. There wonder working power, indeed!

Reply 84 - Posted by: VAfreedomluver, 1/28/2003 11:52:06 PM

I thought it was a very good speech by the President. At first, I was worried about some of the new spending initiatives he was proposing. But then he got to Iraq...

Have you ever heard such intense silence at a SOTU address??? Bubba couldn't have done such a thing in his wildest dream. Of course, his dreams wouldn't involve such things (snicker snicker)

Anyway, the speech was priceless just for the shot of Teddy Kennedy dozing away! I can't wait to hear what Rush has to say about the Demo nitwits tomorrow!

Reply 85 - Posted by: wreck, 1/28/2003 11:53:00 PM

W made it clear in the end that we would report to UN Security Council, but we would do what we had to do to protect the American people-- regardless! If the UN balks, so be it!! They will only relegate themselves irrelevant much like The League of Nations. Personally, I hope they do so.

G'nite, dotters (and sons) keep your powder dry, lock and load, rock and roll, and tomorrow--perform a random act of kindness, such as just smiling rather than laughing out loud at any dim who is still convinced that we should wait upon the pleasure of the UN in regards to saddam.

Reply 91 - Posted by: michiganrepublican, 1/28/2003 11:57:00 PM

Since the average Dem Senator probably never went to Sunday school the "wonder working power" thing probably went right over most of their heads. I love the fact that GWB knows how to pull their strings with stuff like this while Rummy drives the Pentagon media crowd crazy with his political incorrectness and Helen Thomas is going insane in the WH briefing room. Yes, there is a war on terror and we are winning, both at home and abroad.

Reply 92 - Posted by: JoniTx, 1/28/2003 11:57:22 PM

We loved the speech, too. W. did look tired and a little thinner to me. McCain, his type of skin cancer can spread into the blood stream. I have never felt they "got it all", even went back in for more surgery. Hard form to fight. I just can't stand to listen to the "opposition" anymore. They ALL sound soooo silly! Too many years of listening to Klintoon, I suppose. G'night, All

Lucianne, Amy, et al:

Many thanks for opening this thread. Like many others, I have truly missed the WRT's, but have sat silently in ''Time Out'', waiting for our restriction to be lifted.

My appreciation for this forum tonight. It was terrific to be able to share our thoughts and emotions on this great night.

You guys are the funniest and best pundants. More fun than watching the alphabet soup networks. 4 thread!!! Will have to catch up tomorrow. I haven't anything new to add because you have observed the same things I was watching for. Did anyone notice Jackson Lee didnt' wear red this year. She has to make sure she is noticed each year and press the flesh. I was hoping Pres Bush would ignore her. Maybe he decided being cordial was the wisest approach. Couldn't believe Hillary sat behind the big military brass. She sure knows how to smooze the camera. It was fun watching all the activities.

Speech was great and maybe my future SUV will be run by hydrogen power. If we could go to the moon, why can't we get a cleaner fuel and sock it to the Arabs. They better quake in their gold laden boots if America decides to invest in a new energy fuel. The Russians felt the pressure of American ingenuity.

We are the most blessed people to have such a leader. Like someone else said, Thank God it isn't Pres Al Gore up there giving the State of the Union Address.

People like Helen Thomas don't deserve the blessings of America. She wouldn't recognize a blessing if it hit her in the face. No...won't go there.

Reply 98 - Posted by: Lawsy0, 1/29/2003 12:01:30 AM

If an archangel were to apear on earth in a dark suit and a light blue tie, he'd look just like President Bush did tonight. As someone above mentioned, he looks tired of having to explain it over and over; yet not too tired to get on with it!

Resonating phrases: Wonder working power. One heart-one soul. God's gift to humanity. And of course, the final God Bless America, which the President always delivers with full salute in his voice.

I am blessed to be living in the time of George Walker Bush, President of the United States. Thank you, Lord.

Thanks, Ldot Staff. Great idea.

oniana--i think GWB said the costs for AIDS Rx's has gone from 12,000!!! to 300 a year.

That impressed me.

The hydrogen fuel cells also pleased me

#86,

In case Coral doesn't rejoin the thread, chiariscuro is a painting technique developed during the Rennaisance (another Western invention!) whereby the shadows and dark areas stand in specific contrast and add to the overall effect of light and dimension and life in the colors and primary subjects.

In other words, in this case, I think Coral meant the Dims/Socialists/Appeasers/Evil-supporters are the darkness that adds background emphasis to the Light that is President Bush and the Republican Party.

I was VERY proud to have been born American this evening.

There Is Power In The Blood is the title of the hymn. Words and musin by L. E. Jones, copyrighted in 1899.

It can be found in any Baptist, Broadman or Modern Hymnal - and probably in almost any other hymnal.

Would you be free from the burden of sin? There's power in the blood. Power in the Blood. Would you o'er evil a victroy win? There's wonder working power in the blood.

Would you be free from your passion and pride? There's power in the blood. Power in the blood. Come for a cleansing to Calvary's tide. There's wonder working powerin the blood.
