For the three day holiday we will offer an open forum. Chat your little hearts out, ask questions, bash liberals, write poetry, give us your favorite (clean) joke........whatever.
The never-ending trail[s]: John Winter Smith has been on his coffee-break for five years. The unemployed software engineer from Houston plans to visit every company-owned Starbucks, that is if he can find future financing. The Seattle Times reports this morning that his two hours of panhandling in a local mall added just $2.75 to his coffers. Al Gore will be returning to the campaign trail in Florida sometime in September on behalf of democrat candidates it was reported Friday by the Orlando Sentinel, and the Associated Press. Gore's spokesperson, Jano Cabrera stated: 'Whatever he'll be doing, it will be to help Democrats in 2002'. A spokesman for the Republican Party of Florida, Towson Fraser said that the GOP also looked forward to Gore's visit.
Still talking...Well, ex-president Clinton has spoken once again, this time at the State Fair in Syracuse, NY. Ldotter 'mollybob' has this remark in this thread: 'WJC has finally found his niche in life--a carny side show!!' Speaking of shows - OJ Simpson who has been called 'the Bill Clinton of his time', for his philandering with the phillies sat down for an exclusive interview with E!TV to be broadcast in September. This note - the OJ 'talk' is part of a two-hour special. OJ waited eight years before sharing his infinite wisdom, Bubba .... well, you know.
Not the end, but still...There are several threads on the board this morning reporting on the 'Happy Ending' of Nicholas Farber's kidnapping ordeal which began last Wednesday morning in Palm Desert, CA. Nicholas was reunited with his father late Friday evening ending the speculation about his whereabouts. While TV crews and print reporters are wrapping-up and moving-on, it won't be that way for this family. Irene McCormack Jackson of The San Diego Union Tribune reports on the ranger, Harold Stayton, who led authorities to the motor-home Friday afternoon where Nicholas was being held by his mother and as yet-unidentified male. The Desert Sun, my home-town paper has this headline: 'Nicholas home safe.'
Ldotter Week's End Note: We want to hear about the news, wild, wacky, or what-ever from your world, your home-town, or from your favorite source for news [besides LCom, of course]. Posting it on the board will automatically enter your item in our Ldot neighbor-to-neighbor-search-for-weekend-news-contest. We'll feature as many as we can this long holiday weekend, but we need your submissions. There's good copy out there waiting for you to share with your fellow posters.
We'll be here. Because the news never stops for weekends and holidays, be sure and click-back-to-check-out-the-latest in 'Must Reads' and to see what your fellow Ldotters are up to at the Weekend Roundtable.
'See you in September!'- Amy Sheehan
