What are you reading this summer? What do you wish you had the time to read this summer? What's the best summer read you every had?
Saturday Snapshot: To keep up with all the places that are making
news this morning we sent Igor off in search of a wall map and more push-pins.
More on that story when details become available.
We start in Fort Drum, NY where the President thanked pumped-up fighting forces for their service in Afghanistan and renewed his pledge to strike first to counter terror threats.
Around Wall Street: Two upbeat looks at what this week means to us and them- Trading pro's say: 'There are good reasons why the worst may very well be over' in this NYPost piece by Paul Tharp. And from Chicago, a different look at the economy - from shoppers at a Wal-Mart in suburban Bridgeview.
South to Miami Beach: The Friday night 'Jive with Janet' with a nightclub dance party to raise funds for her Florida gubernatorial campaign attracted a crowd of about 2,000 at $25 a head with one report noting: 'she looked rather out of place amid the lights and thumping beat'.
Out West: Orange County Sheriff Carona made good on his promise to 'get this guy' responsible for the kidnapping and slaying of little Samantha Runnion. Friday, police arrested their prime suspect, Alejandro Avila. The LA Times in Saturday's edition has this quote from Sheriff Carona: "I am 100% certain that Mr. Avila is the man who kidnapped and murdered Samantha Runnion"
Closer to home: Late word on Igor has him navigating his way back to Palm Springs after spending the day yesterday at the courthouse in Indio hoping to get a glance of Robert Downey, Jr. When asked about the map, Igor replied: 'It's got the houses of all the famous people just like I want to see.' For late-breaking news be sure and check 'Must Reads' updated throughout the day and we'll be back with another quick look at the headlines tomorrow morning.
