It's About The Children: Like watching cobras and bridge jumpers, witnessing the nearly literal meltdown of a once enormously talented man rivets the gaze And so it was last night when ABC dished up a world of weird in the form of a two hour Michael Jackson interview that, once you started, was impossible to look away from. The most disturbing segments involved the children he claims he spawned with his "sperm cells." The little boy, Prince Michael I, is seen walking down a Las Vegas corridor with an elaborate mask tied around his blond hair. Visible at the part, an inch of dark roots. A child with dark roots badly needs a mother. Andrew Sullivan comments.

Class Tells: Meanwhile, over at Larry King Live, our former President and Leader of the Free World had this to say about the Trent Lott situation."Trent Lott made a boo-boo. It was like the equivalent of, you know, an uneducated guy scratching his (long pause) ear or picking his nose at a dinner party. And they made him a scapegoat so that other people in America who were uncomfortable with what he said wouldn't think the rest of the Republican Party was doing that." For some of his more tasteful statements go here.

Today's Ka-Ching Thing: Big money dem donors in New York are sitting on their wallets trying to sort out who they will back in the '04 race. The can't stand Lieberman, Al Sharpton gives them shivering fits, New Jew John Kerry is far too phony for this tough minded crew and John "Laurie Dhue" Edwards is just so much white bread and drawl. Apparently, according to Deborah Orin in the NYPost and a new poll, what they are really waiting for is Hillary to crook her finger at them and few doubt she will do it.

A New Axis of Weasel? German officials, not famous for a highly refined sense of humor, sat bolt upright yesterday as Donald Rumsfeld lumped Germany with Cuba and Libya as countries that would not be joining the war effort. He was being Rummyesque, of course, but how would the Germans know?
