It's okay. We all feel that way.
Behind the Scenes: For those of you who took the time to read Jeffrey Goldberg's eye opening New Yorker piece featured here yesterday, here is an intriguing follow-up from Steven Hayes in the Weekly Standard/Daily. Hayes takes you inside the sausage factory that is producing Colin Powell's speech today and the late day decision to include evidence on an Iraq/Al Qaeda connection that goes deeper than the old "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" construct.
Nice Move: Doug Roberts of Roberts Auto Sales on McHenry Avenue in Modesto gave Laci Peterson's Land Rover to her parents after her husband traded it in for a pickup truck only a few days after the young woman went missing carrying their unborn child. The family said Roberts gave them the car so Laci would have something to drive when she came back.
Harvard Can Wait: Among the lesser tragedies around, that Shadenfreude Couple, Jane and Ted are scrambling to make do and the kids at Harvard will have to wait to learn about sex. During the Big Bubble days, Jane threw fists of cash at that venerable institution to set up some feminist-feely-our-bodies-our-egos-sex-ed boondoggle. Now she can't make the next payment. As we say around here when we commiserate with those less fortunate - boo-freaking-hoo.
Oh, Dear, Mr. Gere: Is Hollywood's blind love affair with the Clintons showing signs of wear and tear? At a big AIDS party in New York Monday night, Richard Gere hauled out the old frozen flounder of truth and thwacked Hillary (as Al Sharpton would say) upside the head. Guess Gere and James Wood will have to dine together or alone. There go the party invites.
More.........Although Clinton bashing isn't the sport it used to be - and it is truly old - the redoubtable Christopher Hitchens hasn't finished playing the game and dusts off some cuttings from the "No One Left To Lie To" writing room floor. He's claiming
BJ was a "double" for the CIA during his Oxford years and that they both slept with the same future radical feminist during that time. Hitch gagged when we asked if it was Germaine Greer.
