Iraqi school children practice making W hand sign for future use. Needs work.
Take This Croissant And.....Our love of the verbal thwap! has been totally satisfied with Rummy's brilliant, and clearly well thought out, put-down of the perfidious French this week when he called them "old Europe." There can be nothing more devastating to a people who consider themselves the cutting edge of chic than to tell them they are over, finished, passed by and well....old. The beauty part is that Rummy is right. If they had spent their money on a few airplanes instead of supporting a
10 hour work week and endless lunch, they could come play with the big boys too. Here's Deborah Saunders excellent take on attitudes French.
Enough Rope: Useful Idiot marchers, off-the-wall human shields and Teddy Kennedy should enjoy their cable-cast moments this week for they may be their last. While all the thrashing about of the revitalized peaceniks has been going on, the administration has continued
to put the pieces in place to make their case on their own time. Yesterday's brilliant talk by Paul Wolfowitz was the beginning of the unified message being rolled out. There will be more over the weekend leading up to the predicted Blix whitewash on Monday and then
Boom!, Bush's State of the Union. Here John Podhoretz foreshadows wassup.
Today's Ka-Ching Thing: There's an interesting article on the board today from a source not usually posted - Harlem's Amsterdam News. It's coverage of the fire in The Revvum Sharpton's 125th Street headquarters is soggy with Sharpton's damply poetic quotes over the "tragedy" and hints heavily that whitey might somehow had a hand.
Mention is made that this is the second time this has happened to his offices. Rent-a-mobs add up and even a couple of run-down rooms over a Thai restaurant in Harlem can be over-insured.
Everybody Say "Awwww": New York's Man About Town BJ Clinton left the hound dog corner of the bar at the Hudson Hotel long enough yesterday to take a swipe at the current administration and whine that he had been "demonized" over what he tried to do for the nation's health care system. Would it be too cynical to suggest that he is softening the ground for Hillary's run and trying to take some of the heat off the mess she made? If the very thought makes your blood run cold, get used to it because that's precisely what is going on. Watch for more. It won't be pretty.
