Rosenstein Asks Prosecutors to Help
With Kavanaugh Papers in Unusual Request

WASHINGTON — Rod J. Rosenstein, the deputy attorney general, has asked federal prosecutors to help review the government documents of Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh, President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, according to a letter obtained by The New York Times on Wednesday. Mr. Rosenstein’s request was an unusual insertion of politics into federal law enforcement. While the Justice Department has helped work on previous Supreme Court nominations, department lawyers in Washington typically carry out that task, not prosecutors who pursue criminal investigations nationwide. But in an email sent this week to the nation’s 93 United States attorneys, Mr. Rosenstein asked each

The democrats directing Rosenstein to slow things down the process under the guise of trying to be thorough?

McConnell better have the process streamlined with the Senate rules to ensure a smooth process, and not let it get bogged down in democrat delay tactics. Limit the debate times too.
They´ve had months to do their opposition research.

It does look bad. Kavanaugh has a massive paper trail. This might be the most expedient method of forming a team to gather and review documents. Finding 100 qualified attorney´s on short notice is probably tough even in Washington. These attorneys will be vetted and if selected they will be supervised by the DOJ´s Office of Legal Policy.

The Senate ought to demand that Sessions remove Rosenstein from the process. I have been interviewed by the FBI regarding several judicial nominations of judges who had been on the bench for more than 15 years each. No one needs to review 1 million documents for a background check. This is purely for delay.

It´s all about delay, delay, delay and giving the appearance that we´ll find something "right around the corner". Also known as the Mueller plan.

Democrats hope that they can delay this until after this fall´s elections. The problem is that they will likely lose a couple senate seats and be in worse shape.

I think Trump will go nuclear when he hears this. Rosenstein has no right to enlist these Prosecutors, at TAXPAYER EXPENSE, to do his dirty work. SESSIONS should fire him immediately and if he doesn´t, SESSIONS should be fired. What in the world is Trump thinking allowing Rosenstein to run wild like this. It is making Sessions look like the AG in name only and Trump weak because he hasn´t fired them a long time ago.

Pardon the second post. The Dems have pulled this before. There was already an extensive DOJ background check of Judge Kavanaugh prior to his confirmation to the DC Circuit, which the Democrats managed to delay for three years following his nomination by President Bush. This is as ugly as it gets. McConnell should set a deadline for the vote and stick to it, regardless of the minority´s demand for more time.

Where is Sessions? Did he secretly die? Or did he join the criminal element in the DOJ?

A Democratic proposal to abolish Immigration and Customs Enforcement would shutter the agency, probe whether its agents had flouted international law, and create a special commission to rethink how the federal government handles asylum seekers and undocumented immigrants. The text of Rep. Mark Pocan´s "Abolish ICE" bill, obtained Tuesday by The Washington Post, was sent to House Democrats as they returned from the Fourth of July recess. The changes will help Starbucks eliminate more than 1 billion plastic straws per year, the company said. Plastic straws contribute to ocean pollution and pose a danger to marine life. Some governments have begun banning them. To eliminate straws, Starbucks is transitioning from the flat, plastic lids that require them, to ones that feature a raised lip you can drink from. The new designs have drawn comparisons to an adult “sippy cup.” (Snip) Frappuccino
