Ridiculous Bay Area housing costs may
be reflected in a large drop in births

San Francisco Chronicle, by Michelle Robertson

A harbinger of the absurdly high cost of housing in the San Francisco Bay Area may be visible in the region´s maternity wings. San Francisco is a city of few children. You´re more likely to see a French bulldog roaming Alamo Square Park than packs of kids frolicking among the Victorians. The lack of youngsters is indicative of a larger issue in the city: the absurdly high cost of housing. According to a new study, when housing prices go up, the birth rate goes down. It's a trend economists noticed during the 2008 recession — the number of babies being born in the U.S. plummeted after millions of people lost their homes and

A large non-breeding population may also be a factor.

Has the left lost all of their ability to reason?!
More and more gay people move to the mecca of gay life. They can afford the high prices because they don´t have to pay to raise and educate children.
So as families exit to get away from the mess they have made of San Francisco, they sell to couples with (guess what?) no children. DUH!!!!

Sane people don´t even bring children to Sanfagdisco, much less raise them there.
Check out videos of the "Up your back alley" event that are on the internet, you will see what the place is all about.

The normal heterosexual couples who want to have children move out to Oakland or San Jose or, more likely, to the ´burbs. Usually the far ´burbs 50 to 100 miles out in the San Joaquin Valley. Unless their annual income is in the high six figures they have a choice: live in San Fransicko OR have children; they can´t do both. That leaves SF housing to the DINKs (double income, no kids) and the gays. And of course to the street people and the illegals living twelve to a room and collecting welfare.

Why would any parent want to subject a child to San Francisco? Gays don´t reproduce and drugies are more concerned with their next fix than with sex...

Well #4, some of us (and our parents, as well) were born and raised here.
There may not be conclusive causal proof, and a higher proportion of gays, et al may be contributing factors; however, I can attest to the fact that the decades-long need for double incomes to be able to afford a roof over our heads unquestionably contributes to a lower birthrate!
I definitely would like to have had a third child, but I was ´not allowed´ to end my career (the higher paying of our two incomes) nor my killer commutes to have made that realistic.

With Americans having less children in order to live in CA, how long before the state is taken over by the sheer number of immigrant births? Free births.

Comedian Tom Arnold served up a veiled warning to President Donald Trump while hinting that he and Michael Cohen, Trump´s longtime personal attorney, were teaming up to take down the president. "Donald Trump, Ivanka Trump, I´m spending the weekend hanging out with Michael Cohen," Arnold told CNN anchor Poppy Harlow on Friday. "And there´s a lot going on. You´ve disrespected [Cohen] and his family, and there´s a lot going on." Harlow pressed Arnold for specifics and asked whether Cohen, who is under criminal investigation on suspicion of campaign-finance violations, bank fraud, wire fraud, and illegal lobbying, was cooperating with law-enforcement

WASHINGTON — Fueled by outrage over the Trump administration´s immigration policies, a small but growing number of progressive Democratic candidates are signing onto a nascent effort to abolish Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). It’s a radical idea and one that was confined to the fringes just months ago in a party that has historically balanced calls for better treatment of migrants with support for stronger border security and enforcement. But as an emboldened left challenges old assumptions about everything from health care to jobs, doing away with ICE has become the latest issue left-wing insurgents can

TIME magazine is standing by a cover photo and story critical of Trump’s immigration policies that reporters exposed Friday as factually incorrect, wildly misleading, and lacking important context. The cover features a 2-year-old Honduran girl sobbing as she looks up at Trump, with the words “Welcome to America.” Inside, TIME reported the little girl was one of those separated from her mother because of the Trump administration’s zero tolerance policy on families crossing the border illegally. She was taken “screaming” from her mother by border agents, the report claimed. (Tweet) The photo and story made a big splash in the

In May, when the outrage over the separation of migrant children from their parents was beginning to boil, President Trump’s secretary for Homeland Security shrugged off accusations that it was a “form of state terror.” After all, she said, “We do it every day in every part of the country.” On this point, the secretary, Kirstjen Nielsen, is right. Family separation is a fact of life here, happening hundreds — if not thousands — of times a day. “In the United States,” she said, “we call that law enforcement.” Advocates for criminal justice reform have argued that Americans appalled at

Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Zak Ringelstein was arrested Friday for refusing to leave a child detention center in Texas after being told he would not be allowed inside. “Zak is now a political prisoner of the Trump regime,” read a tweet from Ringelstein’s campaign account Friday morning. His campaign later said he was being held on a charge of criminal trespass, a misdemeanor that carries a maximum penalty of six months in jail and a $2,000 fine. The Yarmouth man had announced on Wednesday that he was traveling to McAllen, Texas, to bring supplies to children separated from their parents

No stamp, no problem: California lawmakers
approve proposal for postage-free voting by mail
Los Angeles Times, by John Myers    Original Article

California voters no longer would have to scramble to find stamps for their ballots under legislation sent to Gov. Jerry Brown on Thursday for postage-free voting. If signed into law, Assembly Bill 216 would require county elections officials to send prepaid postage envelopes with ballots mailed to voters. Californians frequently fail to put enough stamps on an envelope, or simply send a ballot back without any postage. Some of those ballots are ultimately delivered by postal officials. Supporters said the changing length of ballots — in some elections stretching to multiple pages — can leave voters unprepared for determining

Sarah Sanders was kicked out of a Virginia restaurant with her family on Friday night because the manager did not want to serve her following the backlash over Trump´s child migrant separation policy, it has been claimed. Jaike Foley-Schultz, a server at the Red Hen in Lexington, said the White House Press Secretary lasted just two minutes in the restaurant until his boss asked her to leave. ´I just served Sarah Huckabee Sanders for a total of 2 minutes before my owner kicked her out along with 7 of her other family members,´ he posted on Facebook.

Judicial Watch today released newly obtained internal IRS documents, including material revealing that Sen. John McCain’s former staff director and chief counsel on the Senate Homeland Security Permanent Subcommittee, Henry Kerner, urged top IRS officials, including then-director of exempt organizations Lois Lerner, to “audit so many that it becomes financially ruinous.” Kerner was appointed by President Trump as Special Counsel for the United States Office of Special Counsel. The explosive exchange was contained in notes taken by IRS employees at an April 30, 2013, meeting between Kerner, Lerner, and other high-ranking IRS officials. Just ten days following the meeting, former

The Minnesota Vikings made history on Thursday. Vikings players, coaches and members of the LGBTQ community came together for a first of its kind inclusion summit held by an NFL team. The LGBTQ summit and fundraising event was held at the TCO Performance Center Auditorium in Eagan. It centered around bridging the gap between the LGBTQ community and sports. (snip) Kluwe´s hope is that the NFL and other sports leagues take notice, and it sparks conversations leading to more acceptance of the LGBTQ community in the athletic world.

Melania Trump made quite the sartorial statement on Thursday when she donned a jacket with the words, ´I REALLY DON´T CARE, DO U?´ written across the back while boarding a plane to visit immigrant children being held at the border in Texas. The 48-year-old first lady was pictured arriving at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland wearing the $39 khaki design from Zara, before boarding her plane to fly to Texas. She removed the offending jacket, which bore the controversial phrase in white graffiti-style writing across the entire back section, before disembarking the plane upon her arrival. (Photos) By the

Taxes: Whatever you think about the issue of taxing internet sales, the simple fact is that the Supreme Court has just guaranteed that people across the country will now be paying more in state taxes. It´s hard for us to see how this is good news. In its 5-4 decision on South Dakota v. Wayfair, the court overturned two previous rulings that prevented states from taxing sales of out-of-state companies. That meant a catalog company based in Maine didn´t have to navigate 45 state sales-tax laws to figure out how much each customer owed, and then remit that money to the

How´s this for sneaky? Sen. John McCain, not too long after seeking conservative and Republican votes in his failed 2008 bid for the presidency, went right after those same conservative voters without telling them, by egging on the IRS to ruin them. It´s the sort of political back-stabbing that defies belief, taking an active role in destroying the Tea Party, which was an authentic grassroots movement of local groups calling for smaller government. But sure enough, Judicial Watch has found McCain´s central role right there in the documents: Judicial Watch today released newly obtained internal IRS documents, including material revealing that Sen.

Former Fox News contributor George Will says voters must punish Republican “poodles” during the midterm elections to “quarantine” the president. An op-ed in Friday’s Washington Post by the long-time political pundit and conservative calls for voters to end the “carnage of Republican misrule” in Washington. Mr. Will claimed the “most telegenic example” of a need to oust Republicans exists with the administration’s “zero tolerance” policy regarding illegal immigrants along the U.S. southern border. “The Republican-controlled Congress, which waited for Trump to undo by unilateral decree the border folly they could have prevented by actually legislating, is an advertisement for the unimportance of
