It now takes a $22.10 hourly wage

An hourly wage of $22.10 is now what´s needed to afford a typical, modest two-bedroom rental nationwide, according to a new report released Wednesday, and most renters don’t earn nearly that much. In its report, the National Low Income Housing Coalition estimated that the typical renter instead earns just $16.88, meaning that for most the average “affordable” rental housing, as defined by the government, is not within financial reach. The new estimate of $22.10 is up almost $1 from the $21.21 estimate a year earlier. In many big cities, the gap between what people earn and what would be needed

Millennials in San Francisco are renting a room in a sort of modern day boarding house (mostly w/o private bath, & w/o meals) for ~1400-2400 per month, and the waiting list is thousands of people long for just a few existing places. This is liberal Utopia.

And there is more. It gets even worse when you add a new car, computer, iphone, ipad, kids, and food out.

Two points. In my career as a high school business teacher, I introduced MS Excel with a household budget demonstration. I tried to be realistic, and emphasize an un-lavish lifestyle. The estimate the kids and I came up with was about $17 an hour to afford a 2-bedroom apartment. And about $11 or $12 an hour with a roommate. I always asked the kids if they would drag just anyone off the street and pay them $17 an hour. They always said, no.

Hit submit too fast. Second point, $22 an hour is approximately $42,000 a year. That’s probably close to an average 1st year teacher salary.

I guess that $15 per hour minimum wage isn´t working in most places. Let´s try $25 for a burger flipper next time around and see what happens.

A nice apartment has always been out of the range of beginning low-skilled workers. You do what you have to do until you get established.

I had an apartment and a new Porsche in the Washington DC area right out of computer school and I could still do that today based on current prices and wages. Bottom line, get a useful education in a skill that is in demand. African History and Womyn´s Studies majors need not apply.

#4 Ask yourself why they want to do that.
They can get a 3 bedroom house with a yard just a few miles away for $2500-3000 a month,
get 2 room mates and live cheap.
They don´t want to, they want to live in little high priced hovels instead.

I would hardly call it utopia, and wouldn´t want to live that way, but they do, and more of them do than there is space for them to do it in, hence the waiting lists.

Why begrudge them for living as they please, it isn´t harming anyone?

I´m thinking this article is a prelude to demands for more welfare funding, since all the non-working, gimme-freebies will now be under the ´new´ poverty line!

My first two years of working, I either had roommates, or lived in an efficiency apartment. I survived and moved up as I was able to afford better. I lived in apartments for 10 years before I bought my first house (1,100 square feet, three BR, 2 Bathrooms, one-car garage) with an FHA loan. The key is living within your means.

Congress Must Stop Illegal Immigration
Breitbart Big Government, by Jeff Landry    Original Article

Throughout the 2016 Presidential campaign, then-candidate Donald Trump was clear that he intended to enforce our nation’s immigration laws. As commander-in-chief, President Trump and his Attorney General Jeff Sessions have dutifully kept that promise. But now that the laws are being faithfully executed, we are witnessing just how broken our system truly is. The way our immigration laws are currently constituted, they provide for two enforcement options: full enforcement or no enforcement. For the safety of our children, no enforcement is not an option. The Obama policy of catch and release served as a notice to all illegal aliens

Clean the Swamp -President Trump won the 2016 Presidential Election in large part due to his stand against government corruption. Being an outsider, Americans believed Trump could make a real difference. The 2018 Congressional election is shaping up in similar fashion and because of this Donald Trump and Republicans will win again. In the 2016 election Americans were sick and tired of the corruption that consumed the Obama Administration. Americans were fed up with the Obama Administration and their patsy media. This message was represented in short chants at Trump rallies that all related to corruption— “Drain the Swamp!” Obama’s

Time magazine has issued a correction to a controversial cover story about a Honduran migrant girl who they said was taken from her mother by US border patrol agents after it was revealed that the pair were never separated at all. Three-year-old Yanela Denise became the unintentional face of the now defunct family separation crisis after photographer John Moore captured her agonized face screaming as her mother was questioned by agents on June 12. After the picture was taken, the pair were taken together to a family detention center. Yanela´s father has since told DailyMail.com that they are ´safe´. As

The White House has donated steaks and other food from its cancelled congressional picnic to the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, a spokesperson said Friday. President Trump had postponed this year’s congressional picnic on Wednesday, citing discussions over his administration’s controversial “zero-tolerance” immigration policy, which led to hundreds of families being separated at the U.S.-Mexico border. Trump told reporters it didn’t “feel right to have a picnic for Congress when we’re working on doing something very important.” “Because we’re all so busy, and I just mentioned to the congressmen and senators in the room that we are going to cancel

Sarah Sanders was kicked out of a Virginia restaurant with her family on Friday night because the manager did not want to serve her following the backlash over Trump´s child migrant separation policy, it has been claimed. Jaike Foley-Schultz, a server at the Red Hen in Lexington, said the White House Press Secretary lasted just two minutes in the restaurant until his boss asked her to leave. ´I just served Sarah Huckabee Sanders for a total of 2 minutes before my owner kicked her out along with 7 of her other family members,´ he posted on Facebook.

Judicial Watch today released newly obtained internal IRS documents, including material revealing that Sen. John McCain’s former staff director and chief counsel on the Senate Homeland Security Permanent Subcommittee, Henry Kerner, urged top IRS officials, including then-director of exempt organizations Lois Lerner, to “audit so many that it becomes financially ruinous.” Kerner was appointed by President Trump as Special Counsel for the United States Office of Special Counsel. The explosive exchange was contained in notes taken by IRS employees at an April 30, 2013, meeting between Kerner, Lerner, and other high-ranking IRS officials. The Minnesota Vikings made history on Thursday. Vikings players, coaches and members of the LGBTQ community came together for a first of its kind inclusion summit held by an NFL team. The LGBTQ summit and fundraising event was held at the TCO Performance Center Auditorium in Eagan. It centered around bridging the gap between the LGBTQ community and sports. (snip) Kluwe´s hope is that the NFL and other sports leagues take notice, and it sparks conversations leading to more acceptance of the LGBTQ community in the athletic world.

Melania Trump made quite the sartorial statement on Thursday when she donned a jacket with the words, ´I REALLY DON´T CARE, DO U?´ written across the back while boarding a plane to visit immigrant children being held at the border in Texas. The 48-year-old first lady was pictured arriving at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland wearing the $39 khaki design from Zara, before boarding her plane to fly to Texas. Taxes: Whatever you think about the issue of taxing internet sales, the simple fact is that the Supreme Court has just guaranteed that people across the country will now be paying more in state taxes. It´s hard for us to see how this is good news. In its 5-4 decision on South Dakota v. Wayfair, the court overturned two previous rulings that prevented states from taxing sales of out-of-state companies. That meant a catalog company based in Maine didn´t have to navigate 45 state sales-tax laws to figure out how much each customer owed, and then remit that money to the

How´s this for sneaky? Sen. John McCain, not too long after seeking conservative and Republican votes in his failed 2008 bid for the presidency, went right after those same conservative voters without telling them, by egging on the IRS to ruin them. It´s the sort of political back-stabbing that defies belief, taking an active role in destroying the Tea Party, which was an authentic grassroots movement of local groups calling for smaller government. But sure enough, Judicial Watch has found McCain´s central role right there in the documents: Judicial Watch today released newly obtained internal IRS documents, including material revealing that Sen.

An op-ed in Friday’s Washington Post by the long-time political pundit and conservative calls for voters to end the “carnage of Republican misrule” in Washington. Mr. Will claimed the “most telegenic example” of a need to oust Republicans exists with the administration’s “zero tolerance” policy regarding illegal immigrants along the U.S. southern border. “The Republican-controlled Congress, which waited for Trump to undo by unilateral decree the border folly they could have prevented by actually legislating, is an advertisement for the unimportance of
