N. Korea cancels high-level talks with
S. Korea, threatens to nix U.S. summit

Yonhap News Agency [Seoul, South Korea], by Staff

Seoul - North Korea said Wednesday it is canceling high-level talks with South Korea and threatened to pull out of a summit with the United States over the allies´ ongoing military exercises. The North´s Korean Central News Agency said the Max Thunder drills between the South Korean and U.S. air forces are a rehearsal for invasion of the North and a provocation amid warming inter-Korean ties. It also called into question whether next month´s summit between North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and U.S. President Donald Trump can go ahead as planned. "This exercise targeting us, which is being carried out across

Comments:
The negotiations between President Trump and Kim Jong-un are akin to a high stakes poker game. President Trump holds one card that Kim can´t fight against. That is, we control the devastating sanctions against his country, which will not be lifted till "all" previously stated results, such as the decentralization of North Korea are met. Kim has much to win, but more to lose if he continues to bluff his people into oblivion.

Kim probably thought all this talk of reconciliation and talks would loosen the political resolve of our president and cause him to soften his demands....wrong! This would have worked for the spineless obama and by now he would be sending planeloads of cash to NK.

It´s an odd way to get a deal, making threats to the one that holds all the cards. Rocket Man is trying to pull one over on Trump and the West. Trump knows how to test his enemies. If fat man blinks, Trump wins.

Give Trump credit for not claiming victory before it happens. There has been way too much talk of a Nobel prize, the dance of joy over bringing KJU to his knees. He may back out, he may never have been serious, but given what to expect of any sole ruler, it is entirely possible the deal could be squelched by painting a picture of capitulation. There are times to shut the hell up.

President Trump had to go through this drill before he moves to take a look at his military options. One way or the other, North Korea is going to lose its nuclear weapons, right now, it is up to Chairman Kim how that happens.

#20, I agree. China is playing both sides of the street. Never forget they are our enemy and their desire is to best us in every aspect. If they can make the President lose face, they will. If, however, they see he is going to be successful, they want in on the glory. Patience, grasshopper. The President is more than aware of their cunning. He’s no novice and knows he is sitting in the catbird seat.

Iran has a part in this as well. Iran has been an ally in terror for North Korea and they have been sharing nuke technology. With the hatred of Bolton and mentions of Libya, again that indicates Iran. Once North Korea changes their tune, Iran is further isolated, something they will work to avoid.

Bringing President Trump’s aide John Bolton up is nothing but a diversion by the North Koreans, as Trump aides don’t make final negotiating positions in the Trump Administration. The North Koreans probably came to the conclusion that they are not going to be able to bluff Trump as they did Bush and Obama. Remember what happened in Libya was just another Obama-Hillary Clinton foreign policy fiasco that sent that country back into the dark ages.

I believe #20 is correct. There are several pieces in play here.

The Chinese want to try to get something out of the trade negotiations with the President´s team.

Having traveled there recently, obvious to me that the Chinese economy is a house of cards at best within a restless population. But, they hold some cards too, such as willingness to keep buying US Treasuries to help keep the US government afloat.

Chinese Pres. Xi Jinping wants to keep NK under his wing not the USA´s. So Kimmie tells the USA what Xi want him to say. Kimmie is a useful idiot at this stage, but, doesn´t know it yet.

As directed by Xi, Kimmie foolishly wants to understand President Trump´s red lines. Careful what you wish for, Kimmie. Kimmie now sees Iran in the mix and wants to see where Trump goes with this now that the USA is out of the nuke "deal". Again, careful what you wish for, Kimmie.

Kimmie, when is Xi expecting you to report back to him on progress with Trump?

Other than Xi/Kimmie stirring the pot, nothing else to see here. Kimmie´s meeting-canceling antics is just theater.

Nothing to be concerned about. During the 1950´s Peace Talks in Korea, the parties wrangled over the size and shape of the table for eons. Later all the Ivy League "universities" gave classes on debating about shapes of tables for future "peace talk" negotiators.

I assume the president wanted the talks to occur and has enjoyed the positive PR since the announcement of the June summit. Postponing the military exercise until after the summit doesn´t seem unreasonable or a sign of US weakness.

As noted earlier, this is an annual ploy of the NK resident Kim, However, there may be opportunity here.

President could play the game and agree - show of statesmenship, etc. while still retaining the card at anytime Kim faltered.

President could ignore the challenge as in the past and call the Kim bluff with threat of more sanctions if talks not held.

President could invite Kim´s forces to join (or Kim to observe) the exercise.

President could decide that Kim´s threat is actually a Chinese play card in the game and call the Chinese President to knock it off or face other economic consequences.

Or the President could ask how would Hillary or Kerry handle this and fork over billions of dollars in bribe money.

Decisions. Decisions. Decisions. I guess that´s why PDJT gets paid the big bucks. Oh, wait ....

(Video) - Hillary Clinton on Wednesday formally backed New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo in the gubernatorial race, as she tried to unite scandal-scarred Democrats at their state convention. The endorsement for Cuomo comes as he fights to ward off a challenge from the left in the form of activist and “Sex and the City” actress Cynthia Nixon. The party is also still reeling from the resignation of Democratic Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, who stepped down earlier this month amid allegations he assaulted four women he dated. It happens every year for just a couple of weeks. Deep in the Congaree National Park, as the sun disappears, the sky will light up as hundreds -- if not thousands -- of male fireflies flash in sync. The phenomenon, which typically occurs for about two weeks in the South Carolina national park in mid-May or early-June, is a mating ritual for male fireflies competing for the attention of females before their short lives come to an end, Jon Manchester, a park ranger at Congaree National Park, told Fox News. As the male fireflies, which remain close to the ground, light up together with their flash patterns, the national park looks like

News that Special Counsel Robert Mueller has sent his gumshoes to Israel certainly does bring this matter full circle. The report is that they are looking into the activities of what the Jewish Telegraphic Agency news wire characterizes as “an Israeli-run social media firm that may have led a social media manipulation effort to help Donald Trump get elected.” Good luck to Mr. Mueller, is our sentiment. Alphabet, the parent company of Google, has filed for a patent via its Verily division that will tell parents, by way of technology, when their diapered babies have gone to the bathroom. This is a solid example of When Technology Goes Overboard. The world of parenting already has a notification procedure to alert when babies have gone poop. It’s called — crying. And on that, babies are generally pretty good at it. They cry when they’re wet; they cry when their diapers are soiled; they cry when they can’t sleep because their little bottoms have turned cold and uncomfortable from dried urine.
