Tourists find bullet-riddled
body on Acapulco beach

Chilling pictures of a man lying dead in the sand in crime-plagued Acapulco encapsulates the brutal violence gripping the once-idyllic tourist hotspot in Mexico. Tourists found the unnamed man’s body floating face-down in the water off Caletilla Beach after a suspected shooting. Armed troops and forensics personnel were seen carrying the body off the tourist-packed sands, on Mexico’s Pacific coast. (Snip) The Guerrero region itself is home to numerous poppy fields used to produce opium, the main ingredient in heroin. In Acapulco, locals who depend on tourism as their main source of income are understood to bring guns to the beach

Comments:
Mexico has perhaps the most strict gun control laws in the world, so locals would be taking a real risk carrying guns to the beach for their own protection, and that would also show how real the dangers are. Close the border.

Pretty sure it is difficult for tourists to arm themselves for protection.

It sounds like vincente fox has some fields he wants to put into production. PDJT better hurry up with our wall. Once obrador is elected and nationalizes all those manufacturing plants, the northbound hordes will be huge.

How inconsiderate is that? Committing suicide on a beautiful beach in a tourist Mecca!

That´s my idea of a dream vacation - strolling along a beach and finding a dead man riddled with bullet holes.....not.

It is a monument to the ability of people to deny reality that ANYONE from the USA vacations in Mexico today. Amazingly unaware.

Mexico has a huge problem with rival cartels competing for dominance in supplying illegal, destructive drugs to the US market.

The Mexican government is corrupt and their citizens suffer, often illegally fleeing to the US either to escape their corrupt country or to make their living distributing drugs and fighting rival gangs.

The US is complicit by failing to control our borders and for providing a market for illegal drugs.

Wake up, America, or the self-destruction of our culture will continue to worsen until it is too late.

A few years ago I vacationed near Cancun and it was wonderful, the people and the area. I worried about the cartels and was told in that area it was not a concern and I have to say police were EVERYWHERE. The Mexican Government needed to ensure the tourist trade stayed healthy, after all money being sent from the USA, some vegetables and tourism were their only form of commerce. Okay, our auto makers were trying to get by cheaply by having parts and cars manufactured south of our border ensuring workers in America were put on the dole.

I won´t go back, no matter how good the deal may appear. Based on the demand, I don´t see how PDT can stop the flow of drugs into the U.S. but I sincerely hope he can. Politicians understand how dumbed-down many of our citizens (voters!) are and the drugs are only making it worse.

Bye Mehico. You were nice, for a while.

Friends owned a villa at the Acapulco Princess which we used for 6-7 years in the mid to late 90´s. I didn´t feel unsafe at any time. Now there´s not enough money to make me vacation there.

Boston — The former mayor of New Orleans is being honored for his leadership in removing Confederate memorials in his city. Mitch Landrieu will be presented with the 2018 John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award for standing behind his decision to take down four monuments. The John F. Kennedy Library Foundation is paying tribute to Landrieu for taking the action despite legal challenges and outright threats from those who insist the Confederacy is an important part of New Orleans’ heritage. President Kennedy’s grandson, Jack Schlossberg, is scheduled to make Sunday night’s presentation.

It’s 2018. One of the world’s most powerful married men had a 22-year-old intern perform oral sex on him in his office. He’s been accused of sexual assault by three other women. One claims, as is the case with so many of the men who have fallen from positions of power as a result, that he exposed himself to her (which always makes me, at least, pause and wonder why on earth so many men seem to want to do this). We know, too, that he lied about his tryst with the intern. So why is Bill Clinton still presiding over glamorous parties? When Monica Lewinsky was disinvited from a Town & Country Philanthropy Summit earlier this month

Boston — Black students at Harvard University are organizing a graduation ceremony of their own this year to recognize the achievements of black students and faculty members some say have been overlooked. More than 700 students and guests are registered to attend Harvard´s first Black Commencement, which will take place two days before the school´s traditional graduation events. (Snip) Every student will receive a stole made of traditional African kente cloth, meant to symbolize their shared heritage and to be worn with their cap and gown at the university´s graduation. Students have raised $35,000 for the event, mostly from schools within the university.

Nancy Gordon is a retired insurance agent, fluent in health-care industry jargon, and even she can’t make sense of the prices she pays for prescription drugs. Last year, a three-month supply of Eliquis, which prevents blood clots, cost from $116 to $466 through her Medicare Part D prescription plan. The 75-year-old Philadelphia resident was thrilled to discover a website that compares cash prices. Then she learned how much she was overpaying for another medication to treat her irregular heartbeat. President Donald Trump’s trade policies could mean short-term pain for Detroit’s automobile industry, but his actions are long overdue to restore the U.S. manufacturing base, says former GM vice chairman Bob Lutz. “The exporting of American industry is something that has got to stop,” Lutz said in an interview with the Free Press. If World War II were fought today, “we couldn’t win, ... because I don’t think we have the capacity to build complete aircraft and complete tanks," Lutz said. Lutz, who has held top jobs at GM, Ford and the former Chrysler, said he favors Trump´s increased tariffs on foreign imports,

President Donald Trump on Thursday pushed back forcefully against Democrats who claimed he branded all illegal immigrants as ´animals´ during a rountable event on California´s ´sanctuary cities´ laws a day before. ´I´m referring – and you know I´m referring – to the MS-13 gangs that are coming in,´ Trump protested at the White House. ´I was talking about the MS-13.´ ´MS-13, these are animals,´ he insisted, referring to the violent Salvadoran criminal organization, adding that ´when the MS-13 comes in, when the other gang members come into our country, I refer to them as animals. And guess what? I always will.´

A recently engaged couple from Florida were kidnapped at gunpoint, robbed and severely beaten on a trip to Mexico when they were supposed to be looking at wedding venues. Frank and Jennifer Massabki said they were lucky to survive and are still reeling from the terrifying ordeal in Mexico City in May last year. Jennifer, who was almost raped by one of their attackers, suffered a broken nose in the ordeal and had to undergo emergency surgery in a US hospital days later. Horrifying photos show them sitting at a police station in their blood-soaked clothes soon after they managed to escape.

Donald Trump has stayed uncharacteristically quiet on Twitter without posting a single tweet about the royal wedding. The President, who is usually especially active on the social media network early in the day, did not tweet anything all morning about the nuptials between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, which ended at 9.00am ET. Rumors swirled about whether Trump would be invited to the wedding at Windsor Castle in Berkshire, but he was eventually left off the guest list, along with other political leaders. Prominent figures who made the cut included Oprah Winfrey, George and Amal Clooney and the Beckhams. Other A-listers including Idris

The man who is sixth in line to be king of Great Britain is getting married today and America has lost its mind. What does it mean to be sixth in the line of royal succession to an office that depends solely and exclusively on who your father is? It means that five family members have to die before you get the real goodies. Granted, those goodies are amazing. Who wouldn´t want to live in a thousand year old castle (too bad it´s in Scotland) or have dozens of "servants" cater to your every whim and need? But that lifestyle depends on people believing that you are deserving of such wealth and privilege because you happened to be

Former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton acknowledged Friday that Democratic candidates around the country still face basic questions about what they stand for and which policies their party supports. Speaking at a Democrat Women’s Leadership Forum in Washington, D.C., Clinton urged party leaders to return to the basics and lay out the party’s values for voters. Fair wages, the “absolute promise of universal health care,” public school funding, gun safety reform and equal pay were at the top of the former first lady’s agenda items that she thought should stay central to the Democratic Party’s platform.

John McCain always said he’d go down fighting, and so he has, dickering from his deathbed over CIA nominee Gina Haspel and pre-emptively disinviting President Donald Trump from his funeral, then leaving as a legacy some fierce final words for the leader of his party, who is now a political enemy. All Trump displays is “a reality-show facsimile of toughness,” the six-term Arizona senator and former GOP presidential candidate, who for a generation of Washington politicians has defined genuine toughness, writes in his forthcoming memoir. The irony of McCain’s curtain-closing contretemps with the president is that it is clearly
