“Smarmy, Mendacious, Self-Aggrandizing
Claptrap”: The Right Wing Rolls Its

Vanity Fair, by Tina Nguyen

“What strikes me is how little new there is in the book,” Fox News veteran Chris Wallace, one of the network’s few resident Democrats, groused Friday morning. “We get a lot of opinions—very unpleasant opinions of the president by James Comey,” he continued, referring to the former F.B.I. director’s new tell-all, A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies, and Leadership. But Wallace was himself taken aback to find Comey, the self-serious Reinhold Niebuhr scholar, so fixated on scoring petty points over Trump’s comparatively diminutive height and hand size. “The other thing that surprises me, frankly,” he added, “is how bitchy the book

Far left Tina weighs in with mini reviews from many sources. She is especially fascinated with those from the right. One - from Chris Buskirk of American Greatness - ended up in her headline. It begins “Smarmy, Mendacious….” Good work, Chris!

Should have tossed a “good work, Chris” to Wallace as well. He may have found the perfect word for Comey’s self-serving tome: “Bitchy”...

Chris Wallace is NOT my favorite interviewer. Probably one of my my least favorite. However I am surprised that he uses such strong language to describe the 6´8" bully and criminal that led the FBI for so many years.

I remember during the Senate hearings Sen Hirono of Hawaii "D" asked Comey if he was asked to pledge loyalty to Trump. Comey replied No and if that was requested he would have come out and let it be known. t , which is odd because now he is claiming Trump ked him to do so.

During a Senate hearing when Senator Hirono ´D´ Of Hawaii asked Comey did Trump demand for your loyalty? Comey said NO if he did ask for that I would come forward and let it be known. Now all of a sudden Comey is claiming this BS loyalty story.

Don´t know about you, but Vanity Fair is the FIRST place I turn for reasoned, experienced and serious political commentary.

Right after CNN, ABC and the Washington Post. But I´m thinking of moving them to the top of the list.

Especially if they have some hot models in new haute coutier fashion.

"The anti-Comey drumbeat—and the right’s attacks on U.S. intelligence agencies more broadly—could do irreparable damage to America’s political norms and institutions."

Now that´s funny.

The reason the Right is focusing on the "bitchy" comments is that, really, they are the only comments verifiable enough to comment on.

In print, under his name, we can reasonably say these are Comey´s opinions.

The rest of stuff? Eh.

The petty little giant shows his @itchiness and demonstrates with the book he was totally out of his depth when he became FBI director.
BTW, have a look at his always strange looking eyes. I guess it´s difficult to be straight forward when you are rummaging through the recesses of your mind which lie you are discussing at present and with whom.

(Graphic)A new infographic shows the underwater might of the Russian Navy and its fleet of 72 submarines, one more than the U.S. Navy at the time of this writing. Split between nuclear missile submarines, cruise missile submarines, attack submarines, and unique special mission and test submarines, the Russian Navy is no slouch. Once again, the excellent website Naval Analyses (Twitter), creator of the United States Navy Submarines 2018 infographic, has released a new image (full size) that shows off the various classes of submarines in service with the Russian Navy. The graphic starts off with some of the newest submarines at the

The leaked Comey memos just

The past 12 hours brought two very big revelations involving former FBI director James B. Comey, President Trump and the Russia investigation, and they must be looked at side by side to fully grasp their collective importance. Comey’s memos of his conversations with Trump have leaked in full. This came after Republicans threatened to subpoena them from Deputy Attorney General Rod J. Rosenstein, leading him to release them to Congress. Comey confirmed to Rachel Maddow that before getting fired, he ordered an internal investigation into whether Trump surrogate Rudy Giuliani had been privately tipped off by people in the FBI two weeks

The Democratic National Committee filed a multimillion-dollar lawsuit Friday against the Russian government, the Trump campaign and the WikiLeaks organization alleging a far-reaching conspiracy to disrupt the 2016 campaign and tilt the election to Donald Trump. The complaint, filed in federal district court in Manhattan, alleges that top Trump campaign officials conspired with the Russian government and its military spy agency to hurt Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and help Trump by hacking the computer networks of the Democratic Party and disseminating stolen material found there. “During the 2016 presidential campaign, Russia launched an all-out assault on our democracy, and it found

A fter weeks of snarky headlines about President Trump failing to find an attorney to lead his legal team, the Washington Post has officially confirmed that Rudy Giuliani is being brought on board to manage the president’s legal strategy. Thank God. Trump, who has been looking for a Roy Cohn-alike for a long time, most likely found it in Rudy, whose public and private mercilessness, to say nothing of how highly he’s regarded among law enforcement (possibly including Robert Mueller himself), should do a lot of good in bringing this headache to an end. However, Giuliani’s hiring should be considered just one part of a much wider,

The Justice Department on Thursday gave lawmakers redacted versions of five memos kept by former FBI Director James Comey to document meetings with President Trump, a congressional source told Fox News. The source told Fox News the memos were turned over to the House Judiciary, Oversight and Intelligence Committees following threats from Judiciary Chairman Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., to subpoena Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein for failing to meet the deadline to submit the documents. In a statement to lawmakers, the Justice Department said it had redacted classified information in the memos, but would provide an unredacted version on Friday. Goodlatte,

It’s amusing to watch the James Comey Self-Aggrandizement Tour stagger along. With every passing day, Comey diminishes himself and solidifies his true legacy: a self-aggrandizing, sanctimonious prig that who somehow thinks he, of all people, has cornered the market on morality. His carefully cultivated act of “The Last Honest Man, Boy Scout for the Ages” schtick is being shown to be just that: an act. Of course, truth be known, this entire image is a work decades in the making, stretching back to the days when Comey was the U.S. attorney in Richmond and hired a local reporter named Mike

Andrew McCabe — who was fired as FBI deputy director last month — hit back at former FBI Director James Comey, saying he was not telling the truth in an interview earlier Wednesday. “Comey has relied on the accuracy and the soundness of the Office of the Inspector General´s (OIG) conclusions in their report on Mr. McCabe. In fact, the report fails to adequately address the evidence (including sworn testimony) and documents that prove that Mr. McCabe advised Director Comey repeatedly that he was working with the Wall Street Journal on the stories in question prior to publication,” said Michael Bromwich,

Over the last five years, cancer research has seen the “greatest advances,” including a new approach to treating the complex disease as a “chronic disease,” instead of trying to cure it. “We have seen the greatest advances in cancer medicine in the last five years with drugs targeting the immune system moving into the clinic and showing remarkable response rates with quite a few different malignancies,” Lisa Coussens, Ph.D., Chair of the Department of Cell, Developmental & Cancer Biology, said to Fox News at the American Association for Cancer Research annual conference. “If the Trumps were Democrats,” conservative actor James Woods tweeted earlier this month, “Melania would be on every cover of every chic women’s magazine in the world every month.” Woods may be exaggerating a little bit — only Oprah can put herself on the cover of a magazine every month, and it’s her own magazine — but he does make an interesting point. First Lady Melania Trump has not graced the cover of a single magazine in the United States since her husband took office over a year ago. Trump ally Roger Stone has doubled down on his criticism of Barbara Bush after calling the former first lady "a nasty drunk" following news she had died Tuesday at the age of 92. "She is descending into hell right now. She´s not going to heaven. She was a bad person," Stone told controversial website InfoWars.com Wednesday. Stone´s comments come after he posted an initial statement on Instagram where he tore into the former first lady following her death.
