Equipment failure at 2nd fertility clinic may
have damaged hundreds of embryos

NEW YORK -- In what appears to be a stunning and heartbreaking coincidence, another fertility clinic said Monday its equipment temporarily failed, possibly damaging hundreds of eggs and embryos. The incident at Pacific Fertility Center in San Francisco happened on the same day as a fertility clinic at Beachwood, Ohio-based University Hospitals Ahuja Medical Center. The level of liquid nitrogen in a cryo-storage tank used to preserve eggs and embryos dropped, raising the temperature in the tank and putting the eggs and embryos at risk.

Hmmmmmm, one is a failure. Two on the same day smells like sabotage. I would think that any alarming would have to have been disabled as well.

I´ve worked in labs. These should have had alarms that not only sounded locally but also called researchers to ensure there was an immediate response. Further LN2? Why weren´t these in actual freezers? These little lives aren´t damaged, they´re dead.

For those women who had eggs frozen before undergoing radiation or chemo which could make them infertile "heartbreaking" might apply. When it comes to frozen embryos, living in limbo, subject to selective abortions once implanted, pawns in divorce battles, and potential subjects of medical experimentation well that´s a different story, but heartbreaking on an entirely different level.

This is so much BS. Coincidence my patootie! Besides, these cryogenic systems do not work that simplistically. "Oops! Somehow the levels of liquid nitrogen just fell...reasons unknown!- Oh, well!" Look to the money factor. I´ll bet this outfit was under tremendous financial strain - I smell an insurance fraud case. Like the managers burning down the factory - along with all the financial records, "Boo-Hoo!"

I bet the damage was limited to ´inventory´ that was no longer generating income.

Here in Cleveland I saw an interview with a couple that lost 3 embryos. It makes sense that those 3 embryos should have been kept in separate freezers to guard against this kind of failure. Ever heard of not putting all your eggs in one basket? Literally!

#4, exactly right.

In the USA, human beings at the dawn of our lifespan are dealt with under property law, not family law. Our youngest sons and daughters --- humans in embryo --- are treated as chattel, not children.

They´re made and frozen like laboraory specimens. They are subjected to minute scrutiny, not for their own individual benefit but for the preference of the purchaser. The less fortunate ones are discarded without a qualm. They are at risk of abortion once implanted, if they don´t get the premium rating from "product quality control". They get batted back and forth like shuttlecocks in divorce-related disputes, dickered over like dd hard-to-dispose of "stuff," like cans of paint in the back of the garage.

AND they may end up being some grad student´s Science Project. Possibly totally deformed into inter-species chimeras as if they were the spawn of animals.

Then finally, to the biomedical waste landfill, with no "Rest in Peace" and no "Amen".

Tell me what that has to do with human dignity.

What do Republicans suspect really happened

Washington Examiner, by Byron York    Original Article

The struggle to uncover the FBI´s conduct in the Trump-Russia probe has made some congressional investigators deeply suspicious of the bureau. But what do those investigators think the FBI actually did in its investigation of the Trump campaign, Russia, and the 2016 election? First, they´re convinced the FBI has something to hide. In the last 12 months, the bureau has, at various times, ignored, slow-walked, resisted, and downright stonewalled congressional requests, not to mention subpoenas, for information on the Trump-Russia investigation. Each time the bureau hunkered down, suspicion grew on Capitol Hill. The FBI seemed particularly reluctant to reveal to Congress not

The New York Daily News has stealth-edited a column originally telling Hispanic conservative commentator Kimberly Guilfoyle that “she’d be better off picking grapes” than dating Donald Trump Jr. That line has now been changed to “she’d probably have better odds picking lotto numbers,” without any note from an editor. An Internet Archive page shows the change as well. Linda Stasi, the author behind the piece titled “Fox should fire reporter Kimberly Guilfoyle, who can’t possibly stay neutral while dating a Trump kid,” also mistakenly refers to Guilfoyle as a reporter rather than an opinion journalist.

Some of the biggest names in Hollywood gathered at the 72nd Tony Awards on Sunday night to join actor Robert De Niro in trashing President Donald Trump. Among the A-List celebrities who goaded De Niro on with an enthusiastic standing ovation for his “F**k Trump” tirade were John Leguizamo, Harry Hadden Paton, and Rebecca Night. Actor Mark Hamill of Star Wars fame took to Twitter, praising Dirty Grandpa for giving “people what they want” and suggesting he earned his standing ovation by being a “crowd pleaser.” Kathy Griffin soon joined in, declaring herself a member of the “F**k Trump Club.”

(Washington, DC) – Judicial Watch announced a federal court ordered a hearing for Thursday, October 11, 2018, on a motion to compel testimony about the email practices of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. The order was issued by U.S. District Court Judge Emmet G. Sullivan. The development comes in a Judicial Watch Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit about the controversial employment status of Huma Abedin, former Deputy Chief of Staff to Clinton. The lawsuit, which seeks records regarding the authorization for Abedin to engage in outside employment while employed by the Department of State,

After vote fails to condemn Hamas,

A United States amendment to a Palestinian-backed draft resolution at the U.N. General Assembly that would have condemned the terrorist group Hamas was defeated even before getting a vote Wednesday afternoon because of a procedural maneuver by Algeria, one of the sponsors of the Palestinian draft resolution. U.S. Ambassador Nikki Haley, before the voting, said that the attempt to obstruct the vote was “shameful.” The U.S. amendment would have been added onto a Palestinian-backed draft resolution that, in part, called for consideration of an international protection force for Palestinian civilians without any condemnation

President Trump declared Wednesday that there is “no longer a Nuclear Threat from North Korea” as he returned to Washington, offering a rosy assessment of a summit with the leader of a nation that still possesses nuclear weapons. “Just landed - a long trip, but everybody can now feel much safer than the day I took office. There is no longer a Nuclear Threat from North Korea,” the president said on Twitter. In a separate tweet, he said that North Korea is no longer the United States’ most dangerous problem, as President Barack Obama had characterized it upon leaving office.

Former first lady Laura Bush tore into the Trump administration for separating migrant families at the border, calling the “zero tolerance” policy “cruel” and “immoral.” Bush penned an op-ed for the Washington Post, which was published Sunday night as public outcry over the hundreds of children in detention centers intensified. “I live in a border state,” Bush wrote. “I appreciate the need to enforce and protect our international boundaries, but this zero-tolerance policy is cruel. It is immoral. And it breaks my heart.” Bush’s commentary comes as more images and accounts from inside the detention centers have

Hillary Clinton weighed in Monday morning on the ongoing controversy regarding the Trump administration’s "no-tolerance” border policy, suggesting that Jesus would not condone the actions of the American border authorities. At an awards lunch for the Women’s Forum of New York, the 2016 Democratic presidential nominee called out “those who selectively use the Bible” to give grounds for the separations, which were reported by the Department of Justice on Friday. “I went to a lot of years of Sunday school — even taught it from time to time. Roseanne Barr has become untouchable due to the "Valerie Jarrett/Ambien/Planet of the Apes" controversy, irrevocably contaminated by racism. This presents a problem for ABC, which canceled her revived show but wants the show to return in some form because it had high ratings. The apparent solution is to create a new show focused on the daughter character "Darlene," which would exclude Roseanne. Unfortunately, Roseanne Barr owns a chunk of the show, and ABC doesn´t want to be seen letting Barr profit from it, so ABC is in talks to buy the show from Barr so she would not technically profit

The Justice Department’s tepid OIG report, with its risible assertion that there was no political bias in the FBI’s Clinton email probe, suggests that it was written by people afraid to tell the unvarnished truth about the conduct of the federal government’s police apparatus, an agency that openly defies congressional oversight and has participated in a vendetta against a sitting president. The FBI’s leadership clearly hopes that the Democrats will win majorities in Congress and put a halt to the investigations into its multifarious abuses of power. The OIG is loath to face the ruthless reprisals that would inevitably follow

The president of Harvard´s teaching hospital got to thinking one day and decided there were too many portraits of white male doctors hung in a popular amphitheater. She bemoaned the horrible situation that people walking into the amphitheater didn´t feel like they "belonged." The problem cried out for a solution. So she moved several portraits of prominent white doctors in order to be more diverse and inclusive. Problem solved? Fired FBI Director James Comey refused to appear before Congress on Monday to talk about his handling of the Clinton email investigation, and his fired deputy, Andrew McCabe, asserted his Fifth Amendment rights against self-incrimination. Former Attorney General Loretta Lynch also declined to show up for a major hearing where the Senate Judiciary Committee was looking into the inspector general’s report detailing major bungles in Mr. Comey’s handling of the Clinton investigation. Mr. Comey’s lawyer said he was out of the country — though Sen. Charles E. Grassley, committee chairman, said he saw Mr. Comey
