Senate immigration debate stalls after
Democrats block first GOP amendment

What was supposed to be an open-ended debate on immigration reform stalled on Tuesday when Democrats objected to the Republican´s first amendment, which would punish so-called sanctuary cities. Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., blocked a request by Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., to start by debating the sanctuary city language. Without Schumer´s consent, the debate cannot begin until either late tonight or tomorrow morning. The amendment mirrors legislation written by Sen. Pat Toomey, R-Pa., that would withhold certain federal funds from jurisdictions that do not cooperate with federal immigration officials when it comes to illegal immigrants. Schumer argued Tuesday that the Toomey

Once again the Democrats show what recalcitrant hacks they really are. The worse they behave the better it is for us. Unlike in the past we have a president who will not be shy about pointing who is to blame for not solving the problems related to immigration. OTH it´s really unfortunate that the looming problems associated with immigration remain the same. Of course somehow the media will blame Trump for all of it.

Let the media blame Trump. Big deal.

Most Americans know the score. Illegal immigration is a losing issue, no matter how you slice it. I hope Pubbies understand that, too.

Fine. For now stick to border security, chain migration and the visa lottery. This is just one small part of what needs to be addressed. I´d rather see it piecemeal.

Huh? The dens are the champions of the DACA babies and if this bill doesn´t get signed by March 5 the DACA babies start losing their documentation and will be deported, and so, the dems block the process. I guess I´m on the dems side. Go dems hold that block.

Huge surprise. The dems just can´t help themselves and must object to every idea that is not theirs. March 5th is looking like an impossible achievement but that´s fine. The DACAs threatend to walk back across the border if we didn´t welcome them with open arms. Adios.

Chuckie got his paid for judge to rule that even though the SC ruled that DACA is unconstitutional DACA must continue. So now he feels empowered to stop in its tracks any attempt to get immigration law right.

Incoming national security adviser John Bolton is reportedly poised to remove dozens of White House officials when he starts his new job early next month. Among those who will get the boot will be Obama administration holdovers and anyone who isn´t loyal to President Trump, sources told Foreign Policy. “Bolton can and will clean house,” one former White House official was quoted as saying. On Thursday, Trump announced that Bolton would replace H.R. McMaster as head of the National Security Council -- a move that would be effective on April 9. President Donald Trump released an order Friday night banning most transgender troops from serving in military except under "limited circumstances," following up on his calls last year to ban transgender individuals from serving. The White House said retaining troops with a history or diagnosis of "gender dysphoria" — those who may require substantial medical treatment — "presents considerable risk to military effectiveness and lethality." Trump surprised the Pentagon´s leadership in a 2017 tweet when he declared he would reverse an Obama-era plan to allow transgender individuals to serve openly. His push for the ban has been blocked by several legal challenges,

Within the span of eight days in January, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced two different key changes to Facebook’s newsfeed algorithm that together have boosted a “trusted” minority of news outlets while suppressing their competitors. (Snip) The algorithm changes have disproportionately harmed conservative publishers, tech website The Outline concluded in a lengthy report earlier in March. Conservative and right-wing publishers “were hit the hardest” by the algorithm change, the report found, “while the engagement numbers of most predominantly liberal publishers remained unaffected.” Conservative website Western Journalism reached the same conclusion in a similar data report last week. A controversial Obama program that’s reaped enormous amounts of taxpayer money to transform slums into desirable middle-class neighborhoods just got a $5 million infusion from the Trump administration. Known as Choice Neighborhoods, the costly experiment was the centerpiece of a broader Obama initiative to convert poverty-stricken neighborhoods into sustainable, mixed-income areas with affordable housing, safe streets and good schools. It was launched as a collaboration between the departments of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Education, Justice, Treasury and Health and Human Services (HHS) to help attract private investment necessary to transform distressed areas. During Obama’s tenure Choice Neighborhoods received a breathtaking

On March 16, I spent the day with my family waiting to hear whether I would be fired, after 21 years in the FBI and one day before I qualified for my long-planned, earned retirement. As day turned to night, I had a lot of time to reflect on how it would feel to be separated from the organization I loved — and led — and the mission that has been the central focus of my professional life. Despite all the preparation for the worst-case scenario, I still felt disoriented and sick to my stomach. Around 10 p.m., a friend called

BREAKING: President Trump signed the $1.3 trillion omnibus spending bill Friday despite an earlier threat to veto the legislation due to the lack of border wall funding and a fix for DACA. EARLIER STORY: President Trump sparked fears of an impending government shutdown Friday by threatening to veto a $1.3 trillion spending bill passed by Congress, citing the lack of a deal that would include protection for illegal immigrants brought to the country as children in return for funding for a wall. Trump tweeted that he was considering the veto, saying that recipients of the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood

David Hogg has become the face of the Parkland high school shooting, eclipsing the tragic memories of the 17 victims who were murdered by Nicolas Cruz. Hogg has been rabidly elevated as a media celebrity by the mainstream press, who found a willing mouthpiece to push their anti-Second Amendment agenda. I, too, wish that President Trump had vetoed that spending that bill that put smiles on the faces of Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer, and permitted them to gloat openly. The only reason for his cave-in that I find credible is what he said: that the huge spending increase for our now-depleted military cannot wait. Our airplanes and helicopters are falling from the skies and roughly half of some aircraft models are not airworthy; some of them suffering cannibalization of their parts to keep the rest flying. President Trump signed the 1.2 trillion dollar Omnibus bill today with open frustration over both the process and the product of that bill. (Snip) What wasn’t said was how the Republican and Democrat leadership worked together to force POTUS Trump’s hand and create a voter backlash they hope will fracture Mr. Trump’s base of support among millions of Americans. “How could he sign this bill?” said one Trump supporter on Twitter. “WTF??? President Donald Trump yanked the government back to the brink of a shutdown on Friday morning with a tweet threatening “a VETO” of a $1.3 trillion spending bill that Congress had cleared just hours earlier. Trump’s declaration of a possible veto — citing the spending bill’s lack of full funding for his border wall and attention to undocumented immigrants known as Dreamers — comes as many lawmakers who would have to override his rejection or pass a stopgap funding measure are already on the way out of Washington for a two-week recess. The president’s top aides said Thursday he would
