Commonwealth in secret succession plans

The issue is hugely sensitive because the role is not hereditary and will not pass automatically to the Prince of Wales on the Queen´s death. The Commonwealth has set up a "high level group" to look at the way the international organisation is governed. This group is meeting later, officially to review how the Commonwealth is run by its secretariat and governors. It said the issue of the succession of the head of the Commonwealth was not part of the group´s mandate, but described the day-long discussions as "open". However, senior sources added that the gathering in London would also consider what happens when the

The Queen gave up on Prince Charles the wimp a long, long time ago. He´s got a snowball´s chance in hell of making it to the throne after the scandals he brought upon the crown.

Like the adulterous Prince Edward (Queen Victoria´s eldest son), Prince Charles will be King. He might not be King for long considering the long-lived Queen Elizabeth, but he will get his crown following her death. (God help them.) But I doubt very much the British subjects will accept Camilla as Queen Consort. It will be a PR nightmare for the Palace.

Charles will automatically be king. I think that during the waiting period for his coronation (where he will be anointed king) he will abdicate. William and Catherine are popular, Camilla is not.

I am not impressed with Charles. He´s a wimp and an idiot. He takes after his Uncle who abdicated. They would be much better off in the long run with Prince William whose wife has more class in her little finger than that horsey Camilla.

We’ve been watching The Crown on Netflix. If it is at all acurate, and it appears to be, Charles learned his behavior from his father who is and always has been a first class pr!ck.

I’m not crazy about William’s politics but at least he’s not as loony as his father.

It appears that Elizabeth is a pleasant anomaly in the House of Windsor, a sensible, sane, reasonable person who understands both the commoners and her position very well, all in a good balance.

Charles is an idiot on his best days, William may be OK, it isn´t too clear yet.

Royals, pretty much past their "use by date". After Elizabeth, perhaps just cancel the whole thing?

We got entirely past it in 1776, and have been just fine ever since.

This has been known for a long time, about how the Commonwealth can decide if they want to stick with it when the current Monarch passes. This is why she started giving Charles more responsibility to represent her, so that the Commonwealth can get to know him a little better before making their decision in the future.

But I am betting that some are still going to leave once Lillibet does, because the public opinion of Charles as a dim and ignorant fool has been around for a long time. With the trend of elderly monarchs abdicating in favor of their more youthful heirs, I would not be surprised either to see Parliament skip Charles and go right to William when the time comes and they give their opinion to the succession. Especially with his well known sympathies to Islam.

It was announced at the time Charles & Camilla got married that she would not be permitted to be granted the title of "Queen", and would be referred to as "Princess Consort". The same way that Phillip is referred to as Prince Consort.

The British public have still not forgiven him for his treatment of the ´People´s Princess´, Diana, Princess of Wales.

The point of the article is that, although Charles may become ´King of England´, he may never become ´Head of the Commonwealth´.

The Queen may overlook the plain fact that Charles is a lightweight simply because he is her son. But she will not overlook the fact that he disposed of Diana and chose Camille, whom the Brits overwhelmingly despise, including most especially the queen herself.
She may very well decide that the future of the monarchy is not worth the risk of handing it off to a pair quite capable of destroying it.

Prince Charles--- who by the way has a lot more sense than airhead Prince Harry--- should rightfully get the throne, but a better idea would be to abolish the monarchy after the Queen passes. None of her heirs has the sense of duty and responsibility that the Queen has or her parents had. These princelings want the celebrity/rock star lifestyle, let them pay for it out of their own purses.

Scientists have created the first ever human-sheep hybrids, paving the way for organs to be grown in animals which can be transplanted into humans. The successful Stanford University project could even open the door to finding a cure for type 1 diabetes by creating healthy pancreases to regulate blood sugar. While scientists have previously developed human-pig hybrids, sparking excitement that they could use them grow human organs, no team has been able to take it to the next step. But Stanford´s team, which has already successfully transplanted pancreases into mice, is tipped to be the first after now that they have produced a

When a killer stalked her Florida school Wednesday, Carly Novell hid in a closet to save her life. Just like her grandfather had done almost 70 years earlier to escape the homicidal rampage of Howard Unruh in Camden. "This is my grandpa," Novell, a senior at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, said in a tweet that included photos of Charles Cohen as a boy and an older man. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg said Sunday "sexism" and a "macho atmosphere" helped doom Hillary Clinton´s 2016 presidential campaign. "I think it was difficult for Hillary Clinton to get by even the macho atmosphere prevailing during that campaign, and she was criticized in a way I think no man would have been criticized," Ginsburg said during a discussion at Columbia University. The liberal-leaning associate justice, who is 84 years old, shared a stage with CNN reporter Poppy Harlow and took a long pause before continuing. "I think anyone who watched that campaign unfold would answer it the same way I did: Yes,

News of Jimmy Garoppolo´s reported five-year, $137.5 million contract — the richest in NFL history — is predictably reverberating across the internet. The 49ers quarterback is set to get paid; the contract doles out $90 million in the first three years, the most in league history. In his five starts for the 49ers last season, he earned a base salary of $820,077. He´s 5-0 in those starts (7-0 overall for his career), and he threw six touchdowns for 1,542 yards. According to Matt Maiocco of NBC Bay Area, $74 million of the deal is guaranteed. The previous NFL contract record

Spread of breast cancer linked to compound

Breast cancer patients could be encouraged to cut asparagus and other foods from their diets in the future to reduce the risk of the disease spreading, scientists say. Researchers are investigating whether a change in diet could help patients with breast tumours after studies in mice showed that asparagine, a compound first identified in asparagus but present in many other foods, drives the spread of the disease to other organs. When scientists reduced asparagine in animals with breast cancer, they found that the number of secondary tumours in other tissues fell dramatically. The spread of malignant cells, often to the bones, lungs and brain, is the main cause of death among patients who are diagnosed with breast cancer.

The earliest Britons were black-skinned, with dark curly hair and possibly blue eyes, new analysis of a 10,000-year-old Somerset skeleton has revealed. Scientists at the Natural History Museum have used pioneering genetic sequencing and facial reconstruction techniques to prove that the first hunter-gatherers successfully to inhabit Britain were far darker in complexion than previously thought. The groundbreaking discovery was made in a “stroke of luck” after archeologists found scraps of DNA in the ear of the Mesolithic “Cheddar Man”, the oldest complete skeleton ever found in the UK and one of the museum’s

Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel—the man whose agency failed to prevent the Parkland massacre despite having received a tip last November that Nikolas Cruz was plotting a mass shooting—has been accused of public corruption. Two years ago, the Sun Sentinel reported that Israel was rewarding top political supporters by giving them and their family members cushy jobs doing public relations and community outreach for the Broward County Sheriff´s Office. One such position, outreach manager, paid out a salary of $78,489. The person who got that job was the husband of Israel´s campaign manager. Israel had been a Republican but ran

John Kasich’s inner circle is gearing up for a possible presidential run in 2020 — actively weighing the prospect of a Republican primary challenge to President Donald Trump against the feasibility of a long-shot general election campaign as an independent. And there’s one consideration driving their thinking perhaps more than any other: what some of his advisers consider the very real, maybe even likely, possibility that Trump doesn’t run again — by choice or not — or that the president becomes so politically hobbled by late next year that the political landscape fundamentally shifts in Kasich’s favor. That’s one reason

A Harvard law grad argued Thursday that armed teachers would shoot black students. Elie Mystal, who graduated and practiced law with a Harvard University law degree, made the case for why armed teachers would shoot black students, reported The College Fix. He published the argument on Above the Law, a law blog he edits. Mystal argued that arming teachers would be pricey, not dissuade potential shooters, and “directly result in students of color being shot to death at school.” “I know that because the only other group of public employees that is armed at the behest of the state shoots

Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice called on Friday for a "conversation about what the right to bear arms means in the modern world," and questioned why Americans should have access to "military weapons." "I think it is time for us to have a conversation about what the right to bear arms means in the modern world," Rice told conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt. "I don’t understand why civilians need to have access to military weapons." "We wouldn’t, we wouldn’t say you can go out and buy a tank," she continued. "So I do think we need to have that conversation." Rice´s comments

A discussion among students at Oberlin High School in Oberlin, La., about a mathematical symbol led to a police investigation and a search of one of the student’s homes, according to the Allen Parish Sheriff’s Office. On the afternoon of Feb. 20, detectives investigated a report of terroristic threats at the school, where they learned that a student had been completing a math problem that required drawing the square-root sign. Students in the group began commenting that the symbol, which represents a number that when multiplied by itself equals another number, looked like a gun.

A report released Friday claims four of Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel’s deputies waited outside Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School while the attack was occurring. On February 22 Breitbart News reported that one deputy resigned after it was learned that he was on scene but failed to control Nikolas Cruz. Sheriff Israel told ABC 13 that video shows the deputy, Scott Peterson, “arrive at the west side of Building 12” and “take a position” outside the school — but never go inside. The sheriff’s office moved to suspend Peterson, who resigned before the suspension could take place. Now CNN reports

The way Rush Limbaugh sees it, CNN has become so consumed by hatred of President Donald Trump that everyone at the network has full-on descended into madness. The conservative radio host began his Friday show by applauding Trump’s CPAC speech and saying once again that CNN’s town hall on the Parkland shooting was nothing but terrible, nasty, anti-gun mind control. After that, he turned his attention to a CNN piece published Thursday titled “Trump’s language on school shooter’s mental health could be harmful, experts say,” which asserts that Trump and NRA spokeswoman Dana Loesch are not helping discussions about mental
