The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) partly or completely cleaned seven of the most toxic land sites, called Superfund sites, in the U.S. in 2017, according to the EPA. Of the seven sites designated for cleanup, three were completely cleansed, while four others still require some work. The cleanup effort is a significant improvement over the year prior when the EPA completely cleaned one Superfund site and parts of another. “We have made it a priority to get these sites cleaned up faster and in the right way,” EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt said in a statement. “By creating a streamlined task
Comments: Who knew? This is huuuge news and absolutely no one has reported it. If Obama had done this the greenies would be screaming with joy and shouting his accolades. The list of wonderful accomplishments of the Trump administration is long. It´s too bad they aren´t widely reported.
It would be interesting to know if the same amount of money was spent both years. Bureaucrats have a talent for doing the bare minimum of constructive work needed to keep the funds flowing while consuming the maximum amount of money with paperwork, studies, and status reports.
Um, yeah. The headline of the Daily Caller is not really what happened and is not what is contained in the EPA´s Press Release. I personally worked on two of these sites (starting in the 90s).
I´m a big fan of Pruitt, and the focus on getting things done. However, these didn´t get cleaned up in one year. They were "de-listed" from the National Priorities List (NPL) in 2017. Meaning that they were cleaned up over years and reached the point at which they were no longer a human or ecological risk.
There could have been some administrative hold up by the Obama administration on delisting. For example, Obama´s EPA may not have wanted to delist them yet for "social justice" reasons. That would not surprise me.
Here is the link that was cited in the story. Read the press release. It may be semantics as #5 is implying or it may be imprecise journalistic description of what the Sec´y did. The fact that he was looking at progress on these sites is what we elected PDJT to do.
Iran’s rulers have inflicted death by torture and gunfire on citizen protesters in a crackdown since the Dec. 28 street uprising erupted, the main opposition group said Tuesday. The Europe-based National Council of Resistance of Iran says the Islamic republic’s ubiquitous security apparatus has arrested more than 8,000 citizens and killed at least 50, all while the West has remained mostly silent. The council attributes at least five deaths to torture. President Trump has spoken out in support of the protesters. The Treasury Department on Friday slapped further sanctions on the regime’s judiciary chief, Sadeq Amoli Larijani. Mr. Larijani has been singled
The controversial research firm Fusion GPS is still investigating alleged ties between President Trump’s 2016 election campaign and Russia, according to several sources who spoke to this reporter. What’s not known is who is paying for the continuing research? Fusion GPS officials could not be reached immediately for comment. (Snip) A Republican congressional staff member, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said “it’s imperative to know who’s paying Fusion GPS for its current investigation.” “There appears to be a concerted effort on the part of the dems to try to deflect from the explosive information now in the hands of the committees
House investigators concluded that Democratic IT aides made unauthorized access to congressional servers in 2016, allegedly accessing the data of members for whom they did not work, logging in as members of Congress themselves, and covering their tracks, according to a presentation summarizing the findings of a four-month internal probe. Their behavior mirrored a “classic method for insiders to exfiltrate data from an organization,” and they continued even after orders to stop, the briefing materials allege. There are indications that numerous members’ data may have been secretly residing not on their designated servers, but instead aggregated onto one server, according to
CNN´s chief medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta said Wednesday that he believes tests reveal that President Trump has heart disease. Gupta said dating back to 2009, President Trump started to have "these tests that are actually looking for the presence of calcium in the blood vessels that lead to the heart." "Steadily, up until just this past week when he had it performed again, those numbers have gone up," he said. "When they get to a certain range ... that means he has heart disease." Gupta then talked about his interaction Tuesday with President Trump´s doctor, Navy Rear Adm. Dr.
White House physician Dr. Ronny Jackson on Tuesday dismissed as "tabloid psychiatry" the idea that President Trump has mental health issues, a claim that some mental health experts are making even though they haven´t examined the president. “People shouldn’t be making those types of assessments about the president unless they’ve had the opportunity to get to know him and examine him, and in my opinion, that’s just tabloid psychiatry, and I’m not going to address it or fall into responding to those kinds of questions or accusations,” Jackson told reporters during Tuesday’s White House press briefing when asked to respond to
One year into his mission to fix the Democratic National Committee, chairman Tom Perez says the task is far more challenging than he anticipated. “I knew it was a turnaround job when I ran, but I undeniably underestimated the depth of the turnaround job,” Perez told Politico. “We had to rebuild almost every facet of the organization, and equally importantly, we had to rebuild trust. Not just people who had invested in the DNC, but others, they just felt the party had let them down.” The DNC has struggled to regain trust after reports former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton manipulated
The Somalia-based al-Qaeda affiliate al-Shabaab is using death threats to coerce civilians into surrendering children from their community ages 9 to 15 “for indoctrination and military training,” reveals the Human Rights Watch (HRW) group. Al-Shabaab’s threat of handing over children as young as 8 “or face attack” has reportedly already forced community elders to surrender hundreds of children, including 300 in one region alone, reports HRW. The United Nations Security Council’s Somalia Eritrea Monitoring Group (SEMG) has confirmed that child abductions, notably from schools in Somalia, and al-Shabaab’s use of
NBC plans to televise any players who refuse to stand for “The Star-Spangled Banner” at the Super Bowl, but there may be nothing to show. It appears that NFL players are no longer taking a knee during the national anthem, namely because none of the teams with still-active protesters has qualified for the postseason. By the end of the regular season, only five teams featured at least one player regularly sitting or kneeling on the sidelines for the anthem: the Seattle Seahawks, the San Francisco 49ers, the Miami Dolphins, the New York Giants and the Oakland Raiders. None of those franchises made the
Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ), no doubt gearing up to run for president in 2020, became unhinged during Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen’s testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee Tuesday.Booker glared crazily at Nielsen as he smashed his fists in protest of President Trump’s alleged “S***hole,” comments made during a meeting with Democrats on DACA. (Photo/Tweet/Video) Daily Caller published a partial transcript of Booker’s tirade: “I hurt,” Booker cried. “When Dick Durbin called me I had tears of rage when I heard about this experience in this meeting. “For you not to feel that hurt and that pain and to dismiss
On Monday’s broadcast of CBS’ “Late Show,” Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) stated that President Trump can begin to prove he’s not racist or bigoted by supporting the bipartisan immigration compromise. Schumer said Trump’s comments “over and over and over again can be described as nothing but racist and obnoxious. He says he’s not a racist. Well, … I have a challenge for Donald Trump. Okay, actions speak louder than words, if you want to begin, just begin that long road back to proving you’re not a racist, you’re not bigoted, support the bipartisan compromise that three Republicans and
Mitt Romney took a swipe at Donald Trump on Monday, condemning the crude comments the president was said to have made about Haiti and African countries -- calling them “inconsistent (with) America’s history and antithetical to American values” with a reference to Martin Luther King, Jr. The poverty of an aspiring immigrant’s nation of origin is as irrelevant as their race,” Romney tweeted. “The sentiment attributed to POTUS is inconsistent w/America’s history and antithetical to American values. May our memory of Dr. King buoy our hope for unity, greatness, & ‘charity for all.’”
This Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, the NAACP wants man-made global warming to be seen as a civil rights issue, arguing King’s vision of a society free of racial injustice can’t be achieved without addressing warming. “We see climate change as a civil rights issue,” Jacqueline Patterson, head of the NAACP’s environmental and climate justice program, said in an online radio spot for the Yale Center for Environmental Connection. Environmental activists have been increasingly framing global warming as a matter of “environmental justice,” since “minority and low-income populations are disproportionately affected by global warming,” Patterson told Yale’s online radio Climate
Ever since Donald Trump entered the political arena, his intelligence has been viciously attacked and his supporters have been labeled as moronic deplorables. In a recent Trump tweet, the president responded to the most recent attack by saying he is a stable genius. The mainstream media never bothered checking evidence of Obama´s intelligence before one historian declared him "the smartest man with the highest IQ ever to be elected to the presidency", even though his academic records were sealed. What these attacks do prove is who the real brains are and who are the dummies: Alan Dershowitz may be for real
Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.) on Monday announced she plans to boycott President Trump´s State of the Union address to Congress at the end of the month, joining a handful of other Democratic lawmakers who are skipping the annual event. "I´m here on Martin Luther King Jr. Day to say I will not be going to the State of the Union," Jayapal said in a video posted on social media. "I think it is absolutely unacceptable to see the racism and the hatred coming out the White House in a way in which this president is fueling the flames of divisiveness across
