Trump’s EPA Has Cleaned Up Seven
Of The Most Toxic Sites In The US

Daily Caller, by Tim Pearce

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) partly or completely cleaned seven of the most toxic land sites, called Superfund sites, in the U.S. in 2017, according to the EPA. Of the seven sites designated for cleanup, three were completely cleansed, while four others still require some work. The cleanup effort is a significant improvement over the year prior when the EPA completely cleaned one Superfund site and parts of another. “We have made it a priority to get these sites cleaned up faster and in the right way,” EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt said in a statement. “By creating a streamlined task

Who knew? This is huuuge news and absolutely no one has reported it. If Obama had done this the greenies would be screaming with joy and shouting his accolades. The list of wonderful accomplishments of the Trump administration is long. It´s too bad they aren´t widely reported.

This, and only this, is the proper use for the EPA. The rest is just bureaucracy on steroids.

I am really happy that they are focusing more on Superfund sites.

It would be interesting to know if the same amount of money was spent both years. Bureaucrats have a talent for doing the bare minimum of constructive work needed to keep the funds flowing while consuming the maximum amount of money with paperwork, studies, and status reports.

Um, yeah. The headline of the Daily Caller is not really what happened and is not what is contained in the EPA´s Press Release. I personally worked on two of these sites (starting in the 90s).

I´m a big fan of Pruitt, and the focus on getting things done. However, these didn´t get cleaned up in one year. They were "de-listed" from the National Priorities List (NPL) in 2017. Meaning that they were cleaned up over years and reached the point at which they were no longer a human or ecological risk.

There could have been some administrative hold up by the Obama administration on delisting. For example, Obama´s EPA may not have wanted to delist them yet for "social justice" reasons. That would not surprise me.

But, come on, this is just bad reporting.

Here is the link that was cited in the story. Read the press release. It may be semantics as #5 is implying or it may be imprecise journalistic description of what the Sec´y did. The fact that he was looking at progress on these sites is what we elected PDJT to do.

#7 - Definitely not semantics. They are two separate and distinct activities as described by the Superfund law CERCLA.

Sorry for the second post but I recalled that famous line from the 1946 Jimmy Stewart classic ...

"Look Daddy. Teacher says every time a toxic waste site is delisted, an EPA bureaucrat loses his/her job."

A Republican running for the U.S. House of Representatives in Oklahoma said he would "use" his Second Amendment if anyone treated his daughter the way President Trump treats women. Danny Stockstill, a Republican running for the vacant seat in Oklahoma’s 1st Congressional District, admitted that, while he approves of Trump’s job in office, he doesn’t want him to be a role model for his children. “So why are we so afraid to say, ‘There’s no way I want my son to act like [Trump]?´" Stockstill said during a Tuesday night forum, according to the Tulsa World. “If my daughter ever

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R_FL) went on with Lou Dobbs on Wednesday and called out Speaker Paul Ryan for defending the deep state and refusing to defend Republican congressional investigators. Earlier today Paul Ryan defended the Obama FBI for spying on the Trump campaign during the 2016 election. This was unbelievable. "Rep. The Justice Department signaled Wednesday in a letter to Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein will not recuse himself from Special Counsel Robert Mueller´s Russia investigation unless department officials find it necessary. Assistant Attorney General Stephen Boyd wrote that Rosenstein "would recuse from all or part of any matter if recusal were deemed appropriate by Department officials who are informed about the matter. "Otherwise," Boyd continued, "[Rosenstein] has a responsibility to fulfill his oath to well and faithfully execute the duties of his office." Graham sent a letter to Rosenstein last

The curious case of Imran Awan, which sounds like an international spy thriller, is entering its third act. Awan was a congressional IT aide to Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla., and he was finally fired just after he was arrested trying to fly to Pakistan last summer. Awan and his wife, Hina Alvi, were charged last summer with bank fraud. They now appear poised to strike a plea deal with the Department of Justice. (Snip) Sources tell me that the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force has been looking into this matter since well before Awan and his crew of Pakistani

Melinda Gates has decided to enter the venture capital world by sending her money to people based at least partly on their sex and skin color, she said in a recent Fortune interview. “It’s been incredibly disappointing to watch how few women-led businesses are getting funded,” Gates said. “Ultimately, if we want more innovation and better products, we’ve got to put more money behind women and minorities. That wasn’t happening, so I decided to step in and see what I could do to help a little bit.” Here are other portions of her interview where Gates specifically says some criteria

The rhetorical attacks on incoming National Security Council Executive Secretary Fred Fleitz (the author’s former colleague) have been shrill and ineffective. Conservatives have rallied to Fleitz’ defense, bolstered in part by Fleitz’s long history of work as a Central Intelligence Agency analyst, State Department official, and House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence staffer, along with his solid reputation working on Iran and nonproliferation-related issues. According to Trump administration insiders, the White House blames Obama allies and Iran deal advocates for ginning up the non-controversy, and there’s no indication of a willingness to surrender the scalp of a long-time national security

Former first lady Laura Bush tore into the Trump administration for separating migrant families at the border, calling the “zero tolerance” policy “cruel” and “immoral.” Bush penned an op-ed for the Washington Post, which was published Sunday night as public outcry over the hundreds of children in detention centers intensified. “I live in a border state,” Bush wrote. “I appreciate the need to enforce and protect our international boundaries, but this zero-tolerance policy is cruel. It is immoral. And it breaks my heart.” Bush’s commentary comes as more images and accounts from inside the detention centers have

Michelle Obama joined her fellow former first lady Laura Bush Monday in criticizing the hard-line Trump administration immigration policy that has led to families being separated at the border. Bush, the wife of former President George W. Bush, penned a tweet over the weekend in which she echoed the widespread condemnation of the new directive from Attorney General Jeff Sessions. “I live in a border state,” Bush said. “I appreciate the need to enforce and protect our international boundaries, but this zero-tolerance policy is cruel. It is immoral. And it breaks my heart.” Quoting that tweet, Obama wrote that “sometimes truth transcends

Republican Senate candidate Mitt Romney called on the Trump administration Monday to stop separating immigrant families at the southern border, calling the controversy a “humanitarian crisis” that requires Congress to devise a permanent solution. Romney, the 2012 GOP presidential nominee, declined to blame President Trump or the Department of Homeland Security specifically in remarks to a group of voters at a park here. He called images of children separated from their parents “pretty disturbing” and “heartbreaking.” “I think immediately we should go back to the setting where we’re not ripping children away from their parents, and then we expect Congress to take

LANSING — The unprecedented outpouring of activism from students after the shooting at Marjorie Douglas Stoneman High School in Parkland, Fla., in February is the genesis for a bill introduced in the Legislature last week that would change the voting age in Michigan to 16. "We allow 16-year-olds to go off and get jobs and pay taxes, but we fail to allow them to exercise their voice come election time," said Sen. David Knezek, D-Dearborn Heights. Illegal Immigration: The latest outrage by the Trump administration is its policy of "ripping" children away from parents who´ve crossed the border illegally. As with so many other things involving Trump, there´s plenty of emotion but precious little in the way of facts. The furor reached critical mass after the Department of Homeland Security said on Friday that 1,995 children had been separated from their illegal border crossing parents from mid-April through May. That number included, DHS said, cases where the adults were arrested for illegal entry, immigration violations, or possible criminal conduct. The practice has generated a rising storm of protests,

Roseanne Barr has become untouchable due to the "Valerie Jarrett/Ambien/Planet of the Apes" controversy, irrevocably contaminated by racism. This presents a problem for ABC, which canceled her revived show but wants the show to return in some form because it had high ratings. The apparent solution is to create a new show focused on the daughter character "Darlene," which would exclude Roseanne. Unfortunately, Roseanne Barr owns a chunk of the show, and ABC doesn´t want to be seen letting Barr profit from it, so ABC is in talks to buy the show from Barr so she would not technically profit
