Winter crisis cripples the NHS: Up to

Hospitals were last night ordered to cancel thousands of operations to try to tackle a winter health crisis. In an unprecedented move, NHS chiefs demanded radical action to free up beds and medical staff. Casualty units are under ´extreme and sustained´ pressure with flu cases on the rise. Up to 55,000 non-urgent operations will be postponed until February, along with thousands of outpatient appointments and scans. (Snip) Two NHS bosses said the pressures were the worst in 30 years with one doctor apologising for ´Third World´ conditions. The first week of January is always busy with patients coming in with flu

Import the tax-consuming Third World to the UK, give them access to "free" health care, then wonder why there´s a shortage of medical services.

´Medicare for all´ is a frequently-seen bumper sticker these days.

Well, the NHS is the real-world implementation of Medicare for all. And it is a predictable disaster.

This is what the left wants for all of us.
Of course they will go to private doctors and hospitals themselves.

I would not be surprised if a good number of the ill are from other countries with refugee status like Syria and N. Africa where midieval (sp?) illnesses are returning. UK and Europe sown their seeds by allowing millions of 10th World dregs enter their countries. It is already happening here in the US.

Police have found the remains of at least 240 people thought to have been killed by a single hitman who used acid to dissolve his victims in barrels before dumping them in mass graves. The method gave the suspected murderer the nickname of The Soup Maker, and investigators believe there could be as many as 650 victims buried in the spot in Tijuana used by the killer. Authorities believe the area was used by Santiago Meza Lopez, known as El Pozolero, who is alleged to have worked for the Sinaloa Drug Cartel in Mexico. Hitman Lopez was arrested in 2009 and

Lake Wales, Fla. — A Florida sheriff says a 16-year-old boy who apparently was jealous that another teen was in a relationship with a girl he liked, invited the boy to smoke marijuana in the woods before bludgeoning him to death with a baseball bat. Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said during a news conference Tuesday that Dillen Murray beat 15-year-old Giovanni Diaz in the face and head Monday afternoon. (Snip) The teen has three previous battery charges, two of which were on Diaz. He faces charges of first-degree murder and marijuana possession. It was not clear if he had a lawyer.

The Grand Prospect Hall in Brooklyn has canceled a controversial NRA fundraiser after criticism of the event from local leaders and neighbors, a report said Monday. The famed Park Slope catering establishment — known for its decades-old tag line, “We’ll make your dreams come true” — had agreed to host the “Second-Annual Brooklyn Friends of the NRA” fundraiser after the group had been turned away from a spot at Coney Island. “My good friends, the schools in the area, and other people, the Park Slopians, want me to do the right thing by them. So I am somewhere against the wall,”

Albany — Actress Cynthia Nixon on Monday made it official — she is challenging Gov. Cuomo in this year’s Democratic primary. “I love New York, and today I’m announcing my candidacy for governor,” Nixon said on Twitter. The message was accompanied by a more than two minute video. "I love New York,” the “Sex And the City” star said. “I never wanted to live anywhere else. But something has to change. “We want our government to work again on health care, ending mass incarceration, fixing our broken subway.” And while she never mentioned Cuomo by name in the video, she took a shot at the

A prominent Republican says that Donald Trump would doom his presidency if he fires special counsel Robert Mueller. Sen Lindsey Graham, during an appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union”, said that Mr Mueller is following the evidence where it takes him as he investigates Russia’s meddling in the 2016 election. Getting rid of Mr Mueller, the senator said, would be a step too far. “If he tried to do that, that would be the beginning of the end of his presidency, because we´re a rule of law nation,” Mr Graham said. ”I think it´s very important he be allowed to do

Sen. Jeff Flake of Arizona said Sunday he hopes the White House’s sparring with key figures at the FBI doesn’t turn into an attempt to fire special counsel Robert Mueller, calling it a “massive red line that can’t be crossed.” Mr. Flake, a Republican and frequent critic of Mr. Trump, said he would expect GOP leaders to push back against attempts to undermine Mr. Mueller, who is probing Russian meddling into the 2016 campaign and its potential ties to the Trump campaign. “He can’t go there,” Mr. Flake told CNN’s State of the Union.(Snip) “We have confidence in Mueller. Hillary Clinton continues to attack President Trump while abroad, this time during an interview with a Dutch news network. During the interview, which took place on March 13, Clinton alleged that Trump is undermining the presidency in exchange for personal and familial gain. “He has undermined the office and used it to enrich himself and his family,” Clinton said. “Disregarded laws, ethical standards.” “He’s crossed into a territory of behavior and actions that are unpredictable, that are erratic, that are undermining the stability of the global order,” she continued. Clinton came under fire last week during a trip to India when she

Science fiction author Kim Stanley Robinson is one of the best-known names in a genre known for looking forward. However, not all writers in the genre look to the future for their ideas -- plenty are obsessed with moving backwards, from liberty back to tyranny. Robinson recently penned an op-ed in The Guardian that favors removing humans from most of the world, forcefully herding us all into cities. "The tendency of people to move to cities, either out of desire or perceived necessity, creates a great opportunity. If we managed urbanisation properly, we could nearly remove ourselves from a considerable percentage of

Fully half of registered voters surveyed in a new poll say they´re ´embarrassed´ to have Donald Trump as president. Just three in 10 are ´proud.´ Fifty-five per cent believe the commander-in-chief does not have ´a sense of decency.´ Fifty-seven percent told pollsters the president is ´not honest.´ And a whopping 67 per cent – more than 2 out of every 3 voters – feel he´s a poor role model for children. The unmistakably dour results were released Wednesday by Quinnipiac University in Connecticut. Actors and athletes increasingly using their forums for political activism are turning off viewers, according to a newly released poll. A McLaughlin & Associates/Media Research Center survey released Wednesday found that 44 percent were less likely to watch sports and entertainment shows “because they have become too political.” In addition, 75 percent said they watch sports and entertainment to escape from politics, and “do not want to be bombarded with partisan political messages.” The poll of 1,000 likely voters comes with television ratings plummeting in the last year for high-profile sports and entertainment

One of my liberal friends admitted to me recently that there is a certain virtue to losing gracefully. She was referencing her disappointment with the mean-spirited salvos Hillary Clinton delivered during her recent visit to India, an outburst closer to being disgraceful than full of grace. I’ve been trying to figure Hillary out for almost a half century, ever since I found myself part of an alumnae audience listening to the Wellesley Class of 1969’s graduation spokesperson -- known then as Hillary Rodham -- erupt in condescending anger at the commencement’s guest speaker. Even all those years ago, it was
