Trump’s Monument Fight
National Review Online, by Shawn Regan

On Monday, President Donald Trump visited Utah to announce the largest reductions to national monuments in U.S. history. His order will shrink two national monuments, Bears Ears and Grand Staircase–Escalante, by roughly 2 million acres in total. The decision has drawn the ire of environmental groups and Democratic legislators but has been applauded by Republican lawmakers and locals who want the land to remain open to multiple uses. Legal challenges to the action have already been filed. But for every fit of rage over Trump’s executive decision, there is an equal and opposite reaction against the creation of national monuments,

Memo to all Democrats, all tree-hugging liberals and filers of ´´legal actions´´--there is NEWS:
This land is your land, this land is my land
From the California to the New York island
From the Redwood Forest, to the gulf stream waters
This land was made for you and me
, so get over it.

Sounds like this new law will be a huge improvment, and far more like a representative republic than a dictatorship.

This would be excellent and underlines a theme being echoed in Trump´s administration, if you don´t like the law, Congress should pass a new law.

I also like the scaling. Small areas can still be preserved by the president. Moderate areas would require public input, although I´m not sure what that means. It WOULD stop large, last minute, sneaky actions like BO did but how would it work? The largest areas require local and state approval, great!

Like so many laws, they work fine when decent men are wielding them. Unfortunately, along come those who abuse the law and it needs to be restricted to prevent the abuse. It says more about the people who abuse it than it does the law itself.

This isn´t about the environment..this is about an attempt to take away power from the executive branch. Once the courts have upset t he supposed balance of the three branches we are in trouble..and would no longer be America.

President Trump starts to rack up wins

Donald Trump´s first year in office has been, to put it mildly, a rocky one. But it can be argued that he´s ending it on an upswing. Congress is likely to soon pass a tax reform bill. Robert Mueller´s "Russia Squad" is getting its first round of bad press. Judge Roy Moore is favored to win next week´s Senate election in Alabama with Trump´s support. The Supreme Court has acquiesced to Trump´s travel ban for now (while it waits for the lower courts to rule). The Supreme Court also offers hope to social conservatives in the Masterpiece Cakeshop case, facilitated by

WASHINGTON — David Brock’s Media Matters for America appears to be granting hundreds of thousands of dollars in charitable funds to political groups that are trying to impeach the president and unseat Republicans across the nation. Brock’s Media Matters for America is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization that has tax-exempt status. That tax-exempt status comes with an important caveat: the non-profit is barred from participating in political activity–funding or otherwise–that is in support or opposition to a candidate for office. Media Matters for America granted $200,000 in 2016 to a Brock organization,

Taxpayers Paid $220K to Settle Case
Involving Rep. Alcee Hastings
Roll Call, by Stephanie Akin    Original Article

The Treasury Department paid $220,000 in a previously undisclosed agreement to settle a lawsuit alleging sexual harassment that involved Florida Democrat Alcee L. Hastings, according to documents obtained by Roll Call. Winsome Packer, a former staff member of a congressional commission that promotes international human rights, said in documents that the congressman touched her, made unwanted sexual advances, and threatened her job. At the time, Hastings was the chairman of the Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe, where Packer worked. Hastings has called Packer’s charges “ludicrous” and in documents said he never sexually harassed her. “Until this evening, I had not seen

I´m pretty much done with the sex scandals. They were fun, but they´re just going to have to carry on without me. If someone broke the law and you can prove it, prosecute him. If someone violated the rules of his organization, eject him. Other than that, if women have forgotten the fine art of slapping a man in the face, there´s not a whole hell of a lot society can do for them. Here they go again — the news media, that is, racing to run stories meant to discredit President Trump’s 2016 election victory, only to wind up with egg on their faces. Friday, it was CNN’s turn to be caught spreading a false yarn — this one trying to link Team Trump with WikiLeaks and its supposed efforts, along with the Russians, to throw last year’s election to Trump. On Sept. 4, 2016, CNN said, Donald Trump Jr. got an e-mail tipping him off to WikiLeaks material that wasn’t yet public. That sure sounds like an effort to collude. Trouble is, the e-mail was actually dated Sept. 14 — a full 10 days later and after WikiLeaks

DETROIT – Michigan´s Republican governor announced Friday that Democrat John Conyers´ congressional seat will not be filled until the regularly scheduled November election, leaving it vacant for nearly a year. Gov. Rick Snyder decided the post will be listed twice on the August primary and November general election ballots. While unlikely, it is possible voters could choose one candidate to fill the vacancy until January 2019 and elect another to a full two-year term after that. It is unusual for a congressional district to stay vacant for so long, according to a review of roughly 100 vacancies and successors listed on

Trump, Mattis turn military loose on ISIS,
leaving terror caliphate in tatters

BAGHDAD – Hundreds of ISIS fighters had just been chased out of a northern Syrian city and were fleeing through the desert in long convoys, presenting an easy target to U.S. A-10 "warthogs." But the orders to bomb the black-clad jihadists never came, and the terrorists melted into their caliphate -- living to fight another day. The events came in August 2016, even as then-Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump was vowing on the campaign trail to let generals in his administration crush the organization that, under President Obama, had grown from the “jayvee team” to the world’s most feared terrorist organization.

MONTGOMERY, Alabama — Frank Luntz, a GOP establishment messaging consultant, was visibly flabbergasted as every single one of his focus group participants in a Birmingham area Vice News-produced panel backed Judge Roy Moore for U.S. Senate. Titled “Why These Alabama Voters Are Sticking By Roy Moore,” Luntz’s Vice News focus group aired on Vice News Tonight on Dec. 8 on HBO. “Are you all Christians here?” Luntz opens the seven-and-a-half-minute long segment. “Yes,” all of the focus group participants, who joined Luntz in a Birmingham area restaurant, replied. “Is Roy Moore a good Christian?” he followed up. “Yes,” one woman replied. “Absolutely,” another said. “Absolutely?”

California´s governor has said that deadly wildfires in the winter will be ´the new normal´, as fire crews rushed to contain the fires, with dry desert winds expected to intensify over the weekend. Governor Jerry Brown on Saturday toured Ventura County neighborhoods ravaged by a weeklong wildfire that killed at least one person and destroyed hundreds of homes and other buildings. At a news conference, the Democrat said drought and climate change mean California faces a ´new reality´ where lives and property are continually threatened by fire, at a cost of billions of dollars. He added that gusty winds and

There are times in life when the institutional ground underneath you begins to crumble — and with it, longstanding attachments. Such is the case for me when it comes to the Republican Party and evangelicalism. I’ve been a part of both for my entire adult life. These days, though, in many important ways they are having harmful effects on our society. The latest example is in Alabama, where Roy Moore, the Republican Senate candidate, stands accused of varying degrees of sexual misconduct by nine women, including one who was 14 years old at the time. Mr. Moore leads in most

Prior to President Donald Trump’s visit to the opening of the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum today, Fox & Friends brought on Trump supporter and former sheriff David Clarke to discuss the president’s appearance. And things got very tense very fast. Right off the bat, co-host Pete Hegseth asked Clarke what he thought about Rep. John Lewis (D-GA), a civil rights icon, deciding not to attend the opening because Trump would be in attendance. Clarke reacted by immediately dismissing Lewis. “John who?” Clarke mocking stated. “John Lewis — he was bloodied on the Selma bridge, Sheriff, when trying to protest voting

An award-winning U.S. diplomat who was seen as a rising star at the State Department has issued a scathing resignation letter, accusing Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and the Donald Trump administration of undercutting the State Department and damaging America’s influence in the world. Elizabeth Shackelford, who most recently served as a political officer based in Nairobi for the U.S. mission to Somalia, wrote to Tillerson that she reluctantly had decided to quit because the administration had abandoned human rights as a priority and shown disdain for the State Department’s diplomatic work,
