Tampa man: Edible marijuana made

TAMPA — A Tampa man says edible marijuana caused him to try to exit a plane mid-flight and then assault passengers and crew in July. Joseph Hudek IV was on a Delta flight from Seattle to Beijing when he tried to open a door and then punched an attendant and passenger who were helping to subdue him. In an affidavit, Hudek said he ingested the drugs in Seattle just before getting on the plane. "My understanding is that it was legal to buy and consume marijuana in the state," he wrote. "After purchasing the edible marijuana, I ate it." That was enough for a

Comments:
If you want your life to be simple and anonymous, avoid freaking out on commercial airliners. People doing crack, meth, PCP, etc., or else are extremely drunk, are the ones who bust up the joint and get taken away in handcuffs. Marijuana does not cause aggressive behavior. Hudek was on something stronger than pot.

Maureen Dowd pigged out on some delicious candy

http://www.syracuse.com/news/index.ssf/2014/06/maureen_dowd_marijuana_freaks_out_ny_times.html

but the candy turned out to be marijuana candy, and it doesn´t take much in the way of edibles to get a good buzz on.

So MoDo had to retire to her hotel room and rest off the high. She writes: "I was panting and paranoid, sure that when the room-service waiter knocked and I didn´t answer, he´d call the police and have me arrested for being unable to handle my candy." (As any writer worth his salt would know, that´s a great sentence.)

And "As my paranoia deepened, I became convinced that I had died and no one was telling me." We´ve tried to tell you this for year, hon, but you didn´t believe us until you ate that candy.

One writer with some experience in the pot business found out MoDo´s actual candy dosage, and calculated that she had eaten about 90 times more than she should have. This stuff shouldn´t be trifled with; it isn´t Werther´s hard caramels. It´s potent. No wonder Ms. Dowd had to go to bed. If you take a 9 overdose of anything else, including aspirin, you will die. Marijuana isn´t toxic in that way. If you get too high, just lie down and try not to freak out. The Yes Album works for me.

It’s not terribly impressive to destroy a straw man. It’s even less impressive when you attack a straw man and fail to destroy it. That’s what David Ignatius failed to do in his recent Washington Post opinion article headlined “The truth about the FBI’s Russia probe.” He tells a story about the agency’s use of a Hillary Clinton-funded opposition research document known as a dossier that he says exonerates the FBI and makes its critics look bad. The dossier has been driving news coverage of Russia since it was legitimized via a leak to major media a year ago. The dossier alleges

The Washington Post recently published an article headlined: “Why ‘social justice warriors’ are the true defenders of free speech and open debate.” Written by Matthew Sears of the University of New Brunswick, the piece is an academic fantasy. Sears might as well have opened his article by declaring: “Let us begin by setting aside all the facts.” Even if the clickbait headline, which the author likely did not write himself, is set aside, the article is ridiculous. It attempts to graft a bland discussion of Socrates, philosophical history, and educational theory onto a defiant vindication of social justice warriors as the

SPRING HILL — A 38-year-old Tampa man was arrested Wednesday on a charge of driving under the influence involving drugs or alcohol after deputies said he mistook a Bank of America drive-through for a Taco Bell. The branch manager of the Mariner Boulevard bank said they saw Douglas Jon Francisco passed out in his blue Hyundai sedan while it sat in the drive-up bank lane, according to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office. This was about 5 p.m. on Wednesday. The manager said they started banging on the Hyundai’s window "for some time," according a deputy’s report, before Francisco finally woke up. Then Francisco

Former Major League Baseball pitcher Roy Halladay died from blunt force trauma with drowning as a contributing factor when he crashed his personal plane into the water off New Port Richey in November, according to an autopsy report released Friday. Halladay, an All-Star with the Toronto Blue Jays and Philadelphia Phillies, was 40 years old. He had retired to the Tampa Bay region, lived in Odessa and helped coach the baseball team at Calvary Christian High School, where his oldest son Braden played. He was an avid flyer who owned an ICON A5 — an amphibious two-seat plane with foldable wings.

Far more than any other animal, the human being is able to gain some control over nature. It is an extraordinary accomplishment. Worship of the natural elements—so fearsome to our primitive ancestors—has given way to airplanes and spaceships, man navigating the skies and space in triumphant testament to his creative power. The problem is that this special ability comes with a tendency to refuse to recognize natural limits. Then our unique mastery aspires to be absolute, and instead of controlling nature, we vainly go against it. The result is debasement, which today, however, is increasingly taken for progress, given the

It seems Senate Democrats are determined to have a government shutdown probably because of the default requirement of the Democratic base of “total resistance” to Trump. They are attaching the demand that DACA be “fixed” as a condition to funding the federal government (as OMB director Nick Mulvaney pointed out this morning, Democrats do not oppose any of the funding specifics of the continuing resolution), because they know that if DACA is part of larger immigration deal they lose a lot of leverage. More on that point in a moment. Democrats are banking on the premise of the media-academic complex that

A review of a classified document outlining what is described as extensive Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act abuse was made available to all House members Thursday and the revelations could lead to the removal of senior officials in the FBI and Department of Justice, several sources with knowledge of the document stated. These sources say the report is “explosive,” stating they would not be surprised if it leads to the end of Robert Mueller’s Special Counsel investigation into President Trump and his associates. Republicans are slamming Democratic Sen. Cory Booker for “mansplaining” to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen in a sharp and one-sided exchange Wednesday before a Senate committee. The New Jersey lawmaker blasted Nielsen´s "silence and amnesia" after failing to get the response he sought on her recollection of statements President Trump made in a meeting last week. Booker´s hostile tone prompted Republican National Committee Rapid Response Director Michael Ahrens to invoke the millennial term for males talking down to women.

After leaving office, President Ronald Reagan created the Ronald Reagan Freedom Award to recognize individuals who have fought to spread liberty worldwide. Nancy Reagan continued the tradition after her husband’s death, and in 2008 she bestowed the honor on human rights icon Natan Sharansky, who credited Reagan’s strong defense of freedom for his own survival in Soviet gulags. Reagan recognized that as leader of the free world, his words carried enormous weight, and he used it to inspire the unprecedented spread of democracy around the world. Men can now look forward to a liberated future of wearing dresses. One such fashion designer, Alejandro Gomez Palomo of Spain, is helping to rush in that new era. According to the 25-year-old Palomo, whose public appearance looks as if Dracula spent a weekend at Liberace´s house, gender fluidity is a way of life he hopes that future men can share. In an interview with AFP, Palomo likened his fashion revolution to the ones ushered by Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent in the 20th century.
