Tampa man: Edible marijuana made

TAMPA — A Tampa man says edible marijuana caused him to try to exit a plane mid-flight and then assault passengers and crew in July. Joseph Hudek IV was on a Delta flight from Seattle to Beijing when he tried to open a door and then punched an attendant and passenger who were helping to subdue him. In an affidavit, Hudek said he ingested the drugs in Seattle just before getting on the plane. "My understanding is that it was legal to buy and consume marijuana in the state," he wrote. "After purchasing the edible marijuana, I ate it." That was enough for a

If you want your life to be simple and anonymous, avoid freaking out on commercial airliners. People doing crack, meth, PCP, etc., or else are extremely drunk, are the ones who bust up the joint and get taken away in handcuffs. Marijuana does not cause aggressive behavior. Hudek was on something stronger than pot.

Maureen Dowd pigged out on some delicious candy

but the candy turned out to be marijuana candy, and it doesn´t take much in the way of edibles to get a good buzz on.

So MoDo had to retire to her hotel room and rest off the high. She writes: "I was panting and paranoid, sure that when the room-service waiter knocked and I didn´t answer, he´d call the police and have me arrested for being unable to handle my candy." (As any writer worth his salt would know, that´s a great sentence.)

And "As my paranoia deepened, I became convinced that I had died and no one was telling me." We´ve tried to tell you this for year, hon, but you didn´t believe us until you ate that candy.

One writer with some experience in the pot business found out MoDo´s actual candy dosage, and calculated that she had eaten about 90 times more than she should have. This stuff shouldn´t be trifled with; it isn´t Werther´s hard caramels. It´s potent. No wonder Ms. Dowd had to go to bed. If you take a 9 overdose of anything else, including aspirin, you will die. Marijuana isn´t toxic in that way. If you get too high, just lie down and try not to freak out. The Yes Album works for me.

Another badly behaving passenger on an airplane. Why I think twice about flying anywhere. I only fly when I have to. Badly behaving passengers can be anything between drunk and murderous.

American soldiers in Niger

Congresswoman Frederica Wilson has come up with a new gimmick for getting invited on CNN. After exploiting the death of one soldier killed in an attack in Niger, she decided that if exploiting one soldier made her famous, exploiting the deaths of all the soldiers would make her even more famous. Wilson has taken to calling the attack, “Mr. Trump’s Benghazi.” And she’s close. American soldiers died in Niger for the same reasons that Americans died in Benghazi. Both were fallout from the Arab Spring. It wasn’t President Trump who deployed our soldiers to Niger. That was Obama’s doing. Congresswoman Wilson complained that

WASHINGTON – Sen. Ed Markey (D-Mass.) said it is “no surprise” that Republicans are trying to permit oil drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, calling the President Trump’s cabinet “the Big Oil all-star team.” Markey led an effort to oppose any attempts to allow oil drilling in the as part of the fiscal year 2018 federal budget. The Senate passed a budget on Thursday that could pave the way for drilling in the refuge since it requests that the Energy and Natural Resources Committee craft a bill intended to raise $1 billion in revenue over the next decade from oil

Jimmy Carter tells Maureen Dowd “I would go” to North Korea to negotiate with Kim Jong Un. Apparently, he has told the Trump administration, via its national security adviser H.R. McMaster, the same thing. So far, says Carter, the response has been negative. Carter doubts that China can help rein in North Korea. The Chinese have no relationship with Kim Jong Un, he explains. Carter doesn’t either. However, he has a relationship with the dictator’s grandfather. In 1994, he negotiated a disastrous deal with the regime and managed to foist it on President Clinton. The current crisis is the fruit of that deal. I’m

I arrived at my house in France recently to find the roses eaten by deer and a drystone wall damaged by wild boar in their eagerness to get at the hollyhocks. One of the bedrooms, moreover, smelled of mice. Is nothing sacred to Nature? This year we had already had a plague of moths whose caterpillars specialize in destroying box bushes. They were very thorough, I will say that for them: Not a single leaf of a single bush remained. The moth into which the caterpillars developed had cream-colored wings with a gold fringe; rather beautiful when taken individually, but not

According to Gallup the US military enjoys the public highest confidence among American institutions. The controversy arising from president Trump´s handling of casualties returned from Africa may change that. Coming on the heels of the discredit of other institutions the impending dust-up depressingly recalls Ian Fleming´s adage: “once is happenstance. Twice is coincidence. Three times is enemy action”. But New Yorker´s Masha Gessen´s response to John Kelly´s defense of president Trump is blithe and illustrates the tone the debate may take. "Consider this nightmare scenario: a military coup. You don’t have to strain your imagination—all you have to do is watch

“We cannot allow to fall back into pre-globalization times,” German Chancellor Angela Merkel warned. Merkel was welcoming Obama back to Berlin for the last time. The election had been fought and won nine days earlier. And Obama and Merkel were defending globalism against President-elect Trump. To Merkel and Obama, returning to pre-globalization times was every bit as mad as going back to the caves. Globalization had become synonymous with civilization. And its prophets, like Thomas Friedman, traced back its rise to the fall of the Berlin Wall in the city where Merkel and Obama were chatting. But globalization didn’t bring down the Berlin

The Frederica Wilson affair may finally be waning. President Trump’s critics are reduced to noting that, at an event celebrating fallen FBI agents, the wannabe “rock star” didn’t grandstand by claiming credit for funding the building named after the heroes, as Gen. Kelly remembered. Instead, she grandstanded by claiming credit for getting the building named for them. The anti-Trumpers need to take a piece out of Kelly because he is able to speak up effectively for President Trump. Thus, as Charles Blow of the New York Times says, Kelly is “VERY dangerous.” Whether they can accomplish this based on Kelly’s confusion

Bowe Bergdahl, the Army deserter who walked off his base in Afghanistan, is whining that the US treated him worse than the Taliban. The 31-year-old sergeant told British TV journalist Sean Langan in an interview reported in The Sunday Times of London: “At least the Taliban were honest enough to say, ‘I’m the guy who’s gonna cut your throat.’ ” That got him less upset than the “administrative duties” the Army assigned him while awaiting trial, he said. “Here, it could be the guy I pass in the corridor who’s going to sign the paper that sends me away for

The widow of fallen American soldier Sgt. La David T. Myeshia Johnson first told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos that she has yet to receive full details about the death of her husband — — a soldier who was killed in an ambush in Niger by ISIS-affiliated militants — and has a number of questions over what led to his death. The consolation call Myeshia received from Trump has become a point of controversy this week,

Sen. John McCain appeared to take a swipe at President Trump in an interview that aired Sunday when he called out the “highest income” Americans at the time who found a doctor to say they had a “bone spur” so they could avoid the Vietnam draft. McCain was interviewed on C-CPAN3, American TV and talked about the war. The interview was wide ranging, but he mentioned the draft. “We drafted the lowest income level of America and the highest income level found a doctor that would say that they had a bone spur,” McCain said “That is wrong.

The business decision of the NFL to isolate and ridicule well over half of their fan (customer) base will easily, very easily, go down in history as the most stunningly stupid decision in the history of any American business enterprise. The vast majority of NFL fans held a middle-class, center-right, common sense, and patriotic outlook toward sports and entertainment overall. In essence most of the NFL fan base are/were positively MAGA-minded. It reflects the profound disconnect between the corporation and their customer base that the NFL didn’t recognize the danger in making social justice causes part of their business enterprise. Let’s put the Uranium One scandal in perspective: The cool half-million bucks the Putin regime funneled to Bill Clinton was five times the amount it spent on those Facebook ads — the ones the media-Democrat complex ludicrously suggests swung the 2016 presidential election to Donald Trump. The Facebook-ad buy, which started in June 2015 — before Donald Trump entered the race — was more left-wing agitprop (ads pushing hysteria on racism, immigration, guns, etc.) than electioneering. The Clintons’ own long-time political strategist Mark Penn estimates that just $6,500 went to actual electioneering. (You read that right: 65 hundred dollars.) By
