The clock is ticking. It’s getting closer. Only 1,118 days until Election Day in 2020. So, naturally pollster thoughts turn to Nov. 3, 2020 and how the most clickable, news-making political personality in a long while might do. Oh, sure, worry warts and precision proponents will suggest a few things might occur to affect voters’ decision between now and then. [Snip] And, OK, Trump’s barely 19% of the way through a first term. So, even though most Americans seem to have an opinion about this man, the YouGov/Economist polling folks asked Republicans: Do you want Donald Trump to run for

Notice how much the left lives in the future and also keeps lying to themselves about President Trump daily? I am sure they are all enjoying this great stock market however. I sure have been!

Democrats aiming for big November
win — just like in 2016

Every other winter, about 10 months before the next congressional elections, a batch of members decides they’ve had enough. They retire or move on to more lucrative, family-friendly jobs. Often, these departures involve members of the minority party, who have a frustrating, unpleasant Capitol Hill life lacking any real control over the legislative agenda. Sure enough, that’s happening again in the winter of 2018. But this time is quite different. This time it’s the members of the controlling majority Republicans who are packing it in — and in large numbers.

Fewer adults labeling self
‘conservative’ since Trump

Is Donald Trump’s brand of turmoil politics giving the ‘conservative’ label a bad name? Maybe Republican members of Congress who aren’t very conservative? Or perhaps Nancy Pelosi’s liberal charisma is attracting converts? Something is going on. When asked over the past quarter-century, more Americans have considered themselves conservative than liberal, sometimes by as much as 20 percentage points. That’s one reason why — have you noticed? — in recent years liberals have tried to re-brand themselves as ‘progressive.’ [Snip] More Americans still do claim to be conservative. But the lead is shrinking. And the reasons are revealing.

Oh-oh. Here we are barely three weeks out from the Super Bowl and NBC has yet to sell all its ads. Same for the ensuing Winter Olympics. [Snip] It’s an immense economic gamble for NBC, which has committed to live-sports programming but now finds live-sports ratings tumbling for events like the National Football League and Olympics. NBC is paying $12 billion to those old guys on the Olympic Committee through 2032. But more trouble looms. First of all,

If you’ve got a minute to pause from our collective obsession with a gossipy book of dubious veracity, here’s an issue of compelling importance that reveals another side of this president and his administration: Iran and how Donald Trump addresses the deadly anti-regime demonstrations now convulsing that historic land that clearly is the linchpin of any future regional stability, or the opposite. The last time such nationwide protests erupted there – the Green Revolution of 2009 -- Barack Obama was painfully reluctant to involve the U.S. [Snip] ?Though there’s little media notice these days, there’s no confusion this time. “Oppressive

5 questions for Trump´s new year

A brand new year suggests a fresh slate with a new set of resolutions and unlimited opportunities for advances and accomplishments. But control your optimism. We’re talking Washington here. Realism rules. To outline some opportunities – and dangers — for the Year of the Dog, here are some questions to keep in mind, whose answers are likely to dominate the news in 2018: WHAT LESSONS has President Trump learned from his first tumultuous year? [Snip] NOW ABOUT MEDIA: Will Trump continue assaults on so-called dishonest media and fake news? You

Here’s a puzzling twist: The winner of the 2016 presidential election is losing badly in polls. And the loser of the 2016 election is losing even worse. The economy’s grown nicely for six straight months. Unemployment is way down. Stock markets are way up. So, at the end of the new president’s first year, why are Americans so unhappy politically? What’s going on? The evidence of trouble is overwhelming. [Snip] As Trump’s base has proven stubbornly supportive no matter what, so too has his far larger mob of disapprovers, who seems to ignore or can’t make out the good news amid

For years, Iran has been accurately labeled as the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism. Now, quietly with little notice beyond the region, the militant regime in Iran has established a major land force in Syria effectively threatening the existence of Israel. Using the cover of helping Syrian President Bashar al-Assad against domestic insurgents, Tehran now has an estimated 125,000 troops in that country, outnumbering the Syrian army, and enhanced by Russian forces. [Snip] Under pressure from U.S.-advised troops and Iranian and Russian attacks, ISIS has effectively declined as an organized military threat, leaving Iranian and allied Hezbollah forces with

A review of a classified document outlining what is described as extensive Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act abuse was made available to all House members Thursday and the revelations could lead to the removal of senior officials in the FBI and Department of Justice, several sources with knowledge of the document stated. These sources say the report is “explosive,” stating they would not be surprised if it leads to the end of Robert Mueller’s Special Counsel investigation into President Trump and his associates. The House Intelligence Committee passed the motion along party lines Thursday to make the classified report alleging extensive

Republicans are slamming Democratic Sen. Cory Booker for “mansplaining” to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen in a sharp and one-sided exchange Wednesday before a Senate committee. The New Jersey lawmaker blasted Nielsen´s "silence and amnesia" after failing to get the response he sought on her recollection of statements President Trump made in a meeting last week. Booker´s hostile tone prompted Republican National Committee Rapid Response Director Michael Ahrens to invoke the millennial term for males talking down to women.

After leaving office, President Ronald Reagan created the Ronald Reagan Freedom Award to recognize individuals who have fought to spread liberty worldwide. Nancy Reagan continued the tradition after her husband’s death, and in 2008 she bestowed the honor on human rights icon Natan Sharansky, who credited Reagan’s strong defense of freedom for his own survival in Soviet gulags. Reagan recognized that as leader of the free world, his words carried enormous weight, and he used it to inspire the unprecedented spread of democracy around the world. President Donald Trump does not seem to understand that his rhetoric and actions reverberate in

Men can now look forward to a liberated future of wearing dresses. One such fashion designer, Alejandro Gomez Palomo of Spain, is helping to rush in that new era. According to the 25-year-old Palomo, whose public appearance looks as if Dracula spent a weekend at Liberace´s house, gender fluidity is a way of life he hopes that future men can share. In an interview with AFP, Palomo likened his fashion revolution to the ones ushered by Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent in the 20th century. "Chanel liberated women (after World War I) by dressing them in male fabrics like tweed,"

Pope Francis has conferred the title of “Commander of the Pontifical Equestrian Order of St. Gregory the Great” on Lilianne Ploumen, a Dutch politician and vocal agitator for abortion rights. Last year, Ploumen founded a pro-abortion organization called She Decides, which offers funding and support for international NGOs that provide, facilitate or campaign for abortion. In an email to the Catholic Herald, Ms. Ploumen said that she was “very honoured” by the pontifical medal, which was sent via the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs last month. In an interview with Dutch radio, Ploumen said she views the honor as a

Obama’s current office, which is run by former de facto President Valerie Jarrett, is just a mile or so from the White House. It is at that location one sees a daily procession of donors, political operatives, party affiliates (BOTH Democrat and Republican) media friends (of which there are many) and more shadowy figures representing a myriad of foreign interests. And each day this office and its two primary inhabitants – Obama and Jarrett, are asked the same question: WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO ABOUT TRUMP? Obama being Obama, with his solar-system-sized ego intact, has been promising to do
