Paul Ryan: ´I’ve never seen anything
like´ leaked McCarthy recording

House Speaker Paul Ryan said Friday that he’s “never seen anything like” the leaked recording on which House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy can be heard saying, supposedly jokingly, that he believed Russian President Vladimir Putin was paying then-GOP candidate Donald Trump and Rep. Dana Rohrabacher. In a story datelined from Kiev, Ukraine, The Washington Post reported on Wednesday that McCarthy could be heard on a recording of a meeting from last summer saying “there’s two people I think Putin pays: Rohrabacher and Trump” and punctuating his remark amid laughter from his GOP colleagues by adding “swear to God.” Ryan quickly

Comments:
So McCarthy was joking but turns out the real jokester is McMuffin, allegedly.

Kevin McCarthy is one of the stupidest people I have ever seen swimming in the Washington cesspool. He´s right up there with Nancy Pelosi, Patty Murray, Susan Collins. Dumber than a box of rocks does not begin to describe his lack of intelligence. Does the Califorina GOP require a lobotomy before running for office from that state? No wonder the CA GOP is extinct. They´re Neanderthals

Looks like Ryan & McCarthy get on the subpoena calendar for the Russian SnipeHunt. Hope they can indict them on obstruction or some other ´ethics violation´ to get them out of the way. Knife cuts both ways boys.

McCarthy is bad enough but if McMullin was the taper and leaker, he´s even worse--far, far worse.

All of these jokesters, elected by people who trust them to be honorable, etc. Now they´re just pathetic creatures bubbling up from the swamp. I pray that these revelations won´t be forgotten in the next election.

I´ve never seen anything like the Congressional Republicans since Trump won the nomination and the election.

I have never been a Trumpista. I voted for him and am willing to allow him time despite what I consider unforced errors and missteps. I support the fact that America chose him.

The Congressional Republicans are now dead to me. The whole bunch is disgraceful connivers.

The audio had Ryan´s voice saying this is not being recorded is it, than lots of laughter. I´m not surprised, the rinos in DC, which is 99%, are no different than dems.

Maajid Nawaz told Bill Maher tonight that he plans to sue the Southern Poverty Law Center for defamation for listing him as an “anti-Muslim extremist.” Nawaz, who wrote a book called Radical: My Journey Out of Islamist Extremism, is featured on the SPLC’s page “A Journalist’s Manual: Field Guide to Anti-Muslim Extremists” and in addition to saying “the evidence suggests that Nawaz is far more interested in self-promotion and money than in any particular ideological dispute,” they feature a list of actions he’s taken that they say backs up this characterization. The head of the CIA on Saturday pushed back on accusations the U.S. is not doing enough regarding Russia’s attempts to interfere in elections. CIA Director Mike Pomepo [sic] also said President Trump is an “avid consumer” of intelligence reports. “I cannot imagine a statement that is any more false than one that would attribute President Trump of not being interested in the intelligence community. He is an avid consumer of the products the CIA provides,” Pompeo said in an interview with Hugh Hewitt that aired Saturday on MSNBC. “I’m with the president nearly every day,” Pompeo said. Frustrated Democrats hoping to elevate their election fortunes have a resounding message for party leaders: Stop talking so much about Russia. Democratic leaders have been beating the drum this year over the ongoing probes into the Trump administration’s potential ties to Moscow, taking every opportunity to highlight the saga and forcing floor votes designed to uncover any business dealings the president might have with Russian figures. But rank-and-file Democrats say the Russia-Trump narrative is simply a non-issue with district voters, who are much more worried about bread-and-butter economic concerns like jobs, wages and the cost of

An Animal House, all-is-well quality colored Nancy Pelosi’s Thursday press-conference postmortem of her party’s Tuesday defeat in Georgia. “We reduced by 20 points what the advantage had been in that district for the Republicans,” the minority leader, imagining Democrats playing horseshoes or hand grenades, declared. “This is good news for us.” If losing a race Nate Silver gave you a 70 percent chance to win comes as “good news,” does repeatedly losing winnable special elections amount to really, really good news? Remarkably, for Nancy Pelosi, yes. By juxtaposing the relatively narrow margins of defeat in four 2017 special elections with earlier blowouts in

Oslo — On January 9, 2009, Grace Gao woke up with a strange feeling. She sensed that someone was going on a long journey. Yet no one in the apartment was packing. Everything was normal — as normal as it ever was. Her dad was holding her brother tightly, however. Then he held her and her mom tightly. So she knew: It was they — mother, daughter, and son — who were going on a long journey. On that day, they escaped China. First they went by motorbike. Then they hid in the luggage hold of a bus. Eventually, they

BETHESDA, Md. — The Justice Department will form partnerships with a dozen cities across the country to help them fight gun crime, drug trafficking and gang violence, Attorney General Jeff Sessions said Tuesday. Under the program — the Trump administration’s latest move in prioritizing a reduction in violent crime — advisers and consultants will help local law enforcement officials develop strategies to combat violent crime. The cities will not receive funding as part of the initiative, a Justice Department spokesman said. “We will make America and every American neighborhood safe again,” Mr. Sessions said, announcing the partnerships at the start of a

California is restricting publicly funded travel to four more states because of recent laws that leaders here view as discriminatory against gay and transgender people. All totaled, California now bans most state-funded travel to eight states. The new additions to California’s restricted travel list are Texas, Alabama, Kentucky and South Dakota. They join Kansas, Mississippi, North Carolina and Tennessee as states already subjected to the ban. California Attorney Xavier Becerra announced the new states at a Thursday press conference, where he was joined by representatives from ACLU Northern California and Equality California.

Most illegal immigrants who pay taxes have stolen someone else’s legal identity, and the IRS doesn’t do a very good job of letting those American citizens and legal immigrants know they’re being impersonated, the tax agency’s inspector general said in a new report released Thursday. The theft creates major problems for the American citizens and legal foreign workers whose identities are stolen, and who have to deal with explaining money they never earned. But the IRS only manages to identify half of the potentially 1.4 million people likely affected by the fraud in 2015, the Treasury Inspector General for Tax

Introducing his 2004 film The Libertine, about a 17th-century poet who notoriously drank himself to an early death, the 54-year-old chose to discuss American politics. "I think [Donald] Trump needs help," he said. "There are a lot of dark places he could go." The end of the Supreme Court term looms, and with it the prospect — the terrifying prospect — of a retirement. Specifically, the retirement of Justice Anthony M. Kennedy, who will turn 81 next month and is the longest-serving current justice, named to the high court almost 30 years ago. So if Kennedy is inclined to retire, it is hard to begrudge him that choice. But his departure would be terrible for the court and terrible for the country. It could not come at a worse time. Any court vacancy these days, under a president of either party, triggers a battle

That’s also an example of what happens when President Trump’s ‘Monster Vote‘ turns out. (Politico) Jon Ossoff was on a trajectory to defeat Karen Handel narrowly, poised to deliver a humiliating blow to the White House in a race billed as a referendum of Donald Trump’s early months in office. The deadly collision between a U.S. destroyer and a container ship June 17 took place while the freighter was on autopilot, according to Navy officials. The Philippines-flagged cargo ship ACX Crystal was under control of a computerized navigation system that was steering and guiding the container vessel, according to officials familiar with preliminary results of an ongoing Navy investigation. Investigators so far found no evidence the collision was deliberate. Nevertheless, an accident during computerized navigation raises the possibility the container ship´s computer system could have been hacked and the ship deliberately steered into the USS Fitzgerald, an Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer. President Obama has been out of office only a few months. But he might have both a street and an L.A. freeway named after him soon. Los Angeles City Council President Herb Wesson has proposed renaming Rodeo Road in southwest L.A. “Obama Boulevard” in honor of the president. Wesson noted that Obama held a campaign rally at Rancho Cienega Park on Rodeo Road when running for president and that the area already has streets named after presidents (Washington, Jefferson, Adams). In May, a plan to name a stretch of the 134 Freeway after Obama moved forward with approval from the
