Trump raises stakes on government shutdown,
demands border wall funds in spending bill

Washington Times, by Stephen Dinan

The White House said Thursday that it wants to see money for President Trump’s border wall included in the spending bill Congress must pass next week — a demand Democrats said sours negotiations and makes a government shutdown more likely. The demands mark a reversal for the administration, which had been saying it found enough money to build prototypes this year and wouldn’t need a major infusion of cash until next year. But White House Budget Director Mick Mulvaney said in an interview with The Associated Press on Wednesday that the wall and the money for more immigration agents are priorities.

Government shutdowns have become laughable scare tactics. They should live in fear that they will not be missed and we will make it permanent.

#3, what gets me is what happens when the furloughed ´non-essential´ gubmint employees eventually get back to work (so to speak).

But then a rule is passed so they get the back pay for the days they missed, instead of being docked that money. It´s like paid vacation that doesn´t come out of your leave balance. That´s inconceivable!

Just use $20 billion of the $500 billion that Sec. Ben Carson found at HUD!

Shut it down. Let all of the ´non-essentials´ go home thinking they will get paid anyway( as happened in the past) and then send them their first unemployment checks stapled to a pink slip( and a nice note that says their position has been eliminated). Because it could and should be.

Thursday at the White House, President Donald Trump directed Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross to investigate the import of aluminum and its effect on national defense. Trump said, “Today I’m calling on Secretary Ross to prioritize the investigation he initiated yesterday into whether the foreign aluminum imports are jeopardizing our security and to issue a report based on his findings. Based on those findings, Secretary Ross will make formal recommendations to the White House as to what to do about the problem and whether or not we do tariffs or taxes or something else to get our aluminum business going again.

President Donald Trump imposed less than one percent of the regulatory burdens that former President Barack Obama did during his first 100 days, according to a new study from the American Action Forum. The conservative think tank tracked regulatory costs created by each administration during their first 100 days. AAF found that Obama imposed $4 billion in regulatory costs while Trump imposed less than one percent of that at $28 million. Trump, whose deregulatory actions AAF suggested were a "success," didn´t approve any major new regulations during his first 100 days but was able to slash regulatory costs. The Market

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., argued Thursday that President Trump and Republicans in Congress will have "doo-doo stuck to their shoe for a long time" if they pass the revised American Health Care Act (AHCA). The comments came a day after the AHCA received a boost in support from the House Freedom Caucus, which announced it would back the bill. "I think President Trump is really making fools of the members of Congress, of his own party," she said in her weekly press conference. Although President Donald J. Trump promised to defund Planned Parenthood if elected president, and the GOP House and Senate often claim that they want to defund the group, there reportedly is no language in the continuing resolution to fund the government through next September to defund Planned Parenthood, a group that has performed approximately 81,567 abortions since Trump´s inauguration on Jan. 20. That´s about 877 abortions per day, 36 per hour, or 1 every two minutes. The United Nations warned the Trump administration earlier this year that repealing ObamaCare without providing an adequate replacement would be a violation of multiple international laws, according to a new report. Though the Trump administration is likely to ignore the U.N. warning, The Washington Post reported the Office of the U.N. High Commission on Human Rights in Geneva sent an "urgent appeal" on Feb 2. The Post reported that the confidential, five-page memo cautioned that the repeal of the Affordable Care Act would put the U.S. “at odds with its international obligations.” The warning was sent to the State Department and reportedly said
