Here’s why Rush survived pressure
on advertisers while O’Reilly didn’t

Legal Insurrecction, by William A. Jacobson

Bill O’Reilly’s Fox News career now swims with the fishes. The conventional wisdom is that after the NY Times exposed a history of sexual harassment settlements, and two new accusers came forward, advertisers “fled” the show, forcing the hand of News Corp and the Murdochs. That conventional wisdom is only partially correct — advertisers didn’t flee, they were chased away by the same organized effort as was used against Glenn Beck once upon a time, and Rush Limbaugh in 2012. Longtime readers will recall my extensive and groundbreaking research into the StopRush operation just after Limbaugh’s comments about Sandra Fluke in 2012, for

I´m no fan of either of these men, but this is an interesting analysis.

Let the left think they can shut down conservatives. The harder they hit, the harder we hit back. And eventually the truth wins, even if it takes a while.

The comparison is idiotic.

Seem to remember a mattress company trying to re-up with Limbaugh. He said, "Thanks, but no thanks." Or some such.

In the 90´s when I first started listening to Rush he was advertising Snapple. He made it sound like the greatest drink in the world, so I bought some. It was ok, but not great. Then he stopped advertising them and nary a word about the greatest drink on earth after that. They stopped paying him to like it, so he no longer did.
I learned my lesson. I don´t believe celebrity spokesmen about anything, even if I like them.
That goes for O´Reilly too. Or Levin or anyone else. Just because an ad is on their show does not mean I am going to buy their junk or trust them.

BOR never ´got´ the Libertarian notion of conservatism. He was and is a judgmental, fussbudget, nanny who cannot abide those who think and live differently than he. True conservatives grant others the right to live any way they choose. True conservatives are the real ´Liberals´. Liberty is perilous and for adults only. Children need parenting and the ´State´ is more than happy to oblige. All it costs is everything.

#5 hits on a point the author overlooks. Conservatives may like some of Bill O´Reilly´s show, but they do not particularly like Bill O´Reilly. Conservatives generally like Rush Limbaugh, even if they do not listen to his show.

Being the know-it-all mastermind that he is, O´Reilly´s personality fits perfectly with someone that may be a sexual predator. He says to his desired paramour, "give me what I want because I know what´s best" - typical O´Reilly discourse. Now this big gas bag can go whistle dixie. I never liked him or his quasi-conservative ideas or his so called journalistic style. And as much as I am NOT a fan of Pope Francis (though I still like and respect the him), I´m glad that he did not grant O"Reilly a personal audience.

It´s very fashionable for squishy centrists to tell everyone how much they dislike Rush Limbaugh. But it always turns out that those who arrogantly dismiss him never listened to him in the first place.
You go ahead, but I´ll tell you you don´t know what you are talking about because I have been a listener since the 80´s and Rush is right -always has been.

Looks like Reply #4 will not be buying any gold or silver, which is heavily touted on most programs. Most of these hosts are total sell- outs to whatever will line their coffers. Some of the advertisements are simply unfathomable, especially when the hosts themselves tout the products. Is there ANYTHING they don´t use or purchase ? Not if they are paid to say so.

O´Reilly is a centrist. Rush is a Conservative. Real Conservatives stick by their Conservative allies. Centrists simply do what they think is best for themselves and the heck with everyone else. O´Reilly often said he is against the death penalty and all for hard labor in prison. Typical centrist since he knew there was no such thing as hard labor in prison but it sounded so compassionate. O´Reilly is nothing more than a younger Larry King.

Obamas under fire from the left for never

The Democratic base is growing increasingly frustrated with former President Barack Obama’s actions after leaving office, including a seemingly endless tour of millionaire and billionaire luxury retreats, according to Democrats and activists contacted by Fox News. Ex-presidents, understandably and un-controversially, go on vacations immediately after leaving office. But the level of luxury the Obamas enjoy on their vacations is unprecedented for a modern-day president, say travel experts. Since leaving office in late January, Obama has visited late actor Marlon Brando’s private island; the Four Seasons in Bali -- where rooms cost upward of $2,000 per night; a Palm Springs estate; Sir

The media has hyperobsessed over the Kansas tax hike this year and sold it as a repudiation of supply-side economics. But the real story in the states has been the catastrophic effects of tax-and-spend fiscal policy in Illinois. Last week, Illinois House Speaker Mike Madigan endorsed a $5 billion annual income tax hike. This would be the largest tax increase of any state in years. Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner has blocked new taxes for three years but is now under intense pressure from the Springfield political machine to agree to the revenue heist. Samuel Johnson once said, “When a man knows he is to be hanged ... it concentrates his mind wonderfully.” For opponents of the Trump immigration order, minds became distinctly more concentrated around 11am this morning, when the U.S. Supreme Court reinstated much of Trump’s order in a reversal of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. While the court will hear the merits in October and could still rule against the administration, these preliminary decisions often reflect a view of underlying merits. For those of us who have long argued that the legal authority supported Trump, the order was

Every once in a while, as often as a blue moon or a politician forgoing the use of the word “frankly,” I utter a soft “Right on” in response to something President Trump has done or tweeted. This occurred recently when he took Barack Obama to task for his weak — and tardy — response to Russia’s meddling in the U.S. election. For a moment there, Trump forgot that Vladimir Putin can do no wrong. But for that rare moment, the president was absolutely right. The Obama administration’s response to Russian meddling was ineffective and oddly torpid. It was also secretive.

You may recall from earlier this year we learned that Canada was facing a new sort of border challenge. People were actually fleeing from the United States and crossing over illegally into the Great White North. These were primarily illegal immigrants looking to escape The Wrath of Trump according to most accounts, but nobody seemed terribly upset about it at the time. Any why not? If you’re that worried about being caught, Canada is famous for its incredibly friendly people, generally socialist environment, generous welfare benefits and back bacon. They’re generally good with almost anyone showing up provided you’re not

CNN reportedly imposing strict new rules on Russia coverage Three CNN journalists who worked on a now-retracted story about Russia and a top Trump adviser are leaving the network. CNN is casting their departure as resignations in the wake of the fiasco, but the network has come under substantial criticism since apologizing for the story. The move would also help CNN’s legal position in case of a lawsuit. Anthony Scaramucci, the Trump adviser who is the target of the story, told me that he has no plans to sue. He said he has accepted CNN’s

Congresswoman Maxine Waters, aka Welfare Queen Maxine, held her second town hall. This woman has taken out-of-touch insanity to a whole new level. She still demands the impeachment of our President, even though the fired FBI Director admitted that he was leaking classified data to the press, and both sides of the aisle now acknowledge (Republicans knew it all along) that Trump and Russia never colluded to fix the election. But that has not stopped Waters from lying repeatedly to her constituents. Nor has she stopped taking on the moniker of “Auntie Maxine” to wayward Millennials. They realize that Barack Obama was

President Donald Trump broke a long standing White House tradition of hosting a dinner to celebrate Ramadan, a Muslim religious holiday. Hosting an Iftar dinner to mark the end of Ramadan fasting is a tradition that started in the Clinton years and was continued by Presidents Bush and Obama. Over the past two decades presidents have honored the holy day by hosting such a dinner. Thomas Jefferson was the first president noted in history to host Itfar in 1805 with an invitation to the dinner stating ´Dinner will be on the table precisely at sun-set – ´ the invitation read. ´The favour

An angry couple assaulted a Georgia fast food owner and her daughter outside a restaurant over a chicken and fries order — leaving the two women battered and authorities in disbelief. “I have a severely broken nose that requires surgery,” Quik Chik owner Jeanette Norris told the Daily News Sunday. “My daughter is scared. She was hit on her right side and has a black eye.” Norris was violently attacked at around 3 p.m. Thursday at the restaurant in Baxley after a couple complained about an order — prompting an argument that led suspect, Latasha Smith, to slap and punch

Former national security adviser and UN ambassador Susan Rice refuses to go quietly into retirement, even though she remains one of the most controversial figures of the Obama Administration. Now, thanks to a glowing profile in New York Magazine, we know that despite Susan Rice’s very public shortcomings (whatever happened to that dastardly filmmaker who spurred violence across the Middle East, anyway?), she believes any criticism of her tenure is at least partly the result of racism and sexism. When asked why she became a “target” in the Trump Administration, she replied, “I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about

I’ve been talking about the importance of protecting against voting-machine hacks since 2002. And now, finally, people are starting to take me seriously. The move to paperless voting started in response to the Florida “hanging chad” fiasco in the 2000 presidential election. Some people (like me) thought this was a mistake, but such concerns were often dismissed. Now, apparently, you can’t be paranoid enough. As Politico’s Bob King noted, while 10 years ago critics of paperless voting were called paranoid, now both parties are worried. It remains true that there is no actual evidence that a single vote was changed by hackers

Obama will also speak at an Indonesian Diaspora Congress in Jakarta on July 1. Obama moved to Indonesia in 1967 at age 6
