Barbra Streisand is standing with Meryl Streep, who used her acceptance speech at Sunday´s Golden Globe Awards to criticize Donald Trump for lacking empathy and infamously mocking a disabled reporter in 2015. A day after Streep delivered her blistering rebuke of the president-elect, Streisand called in to Hardball With Chris Matthews and expressed her solidarity. I thought that [Streep] said what she said beautifully, Streisand remarked. Regarding Trump´s ridiculing of journalist Serge F. Kovaleski 14 months ago, Streisand added, I completely agree with Meryl. It was a heartbreaking moment and so beneath the dignity of the presidency, let alone any respectful person. What we need more in this world
Comments: I liked it better when droopy, old celebrities quietly faded away.
Poor babies, what this is all about is that now, their status has changed, no more going to parties at the White House. They are just ordinary mouth breathing, lip flapping citizens without power recognition.
No one cares who or what you agree with. You´ve been proven a partisan hack .....you and Meryl don´t speak for the voting public... you have no humility and Meryl used the wrong platform to froth at the mouth....,the blowback alone shows what fools you make of yourselves......
Wow, what NOT a shock that all the Hollyweird bobble heads are bobbing today. Streep took her moment on stage to shove her hypocritical, leftist opinions down our throats. We are used to this from Hollyweird and the media. We didn´t value them before and don´t now.
Babs just doubling down of stupidity. Who cares what BS has to say? I´m just going to cling to my Bible and my guns then watch some football and mixed martial arts cage fighting. It´s much more entertaining than Hollywood.
These ´celebrities´ do not understand that normal folks don´t care what THEY espouse. We have our own lives to live and we don´t need them to tell us how to live it. Obviously they can´t remember this line - " the election is over "- I think it was despicable to turn an awards show into a political diatribe, not that I have ever watched an awards show. They just entertain each other with their arrogance.
Barbra needs a teleprompter to sing her own songs at her concerts. It´s glorified karoake seeing one of her shows.
That line by Meryl about holding power to account? Didn´t seem to bother Hollywood when the power (democrat administration) was using the IRS against people, because it was against Republicans. Didn´t seem to bother the Hollywood crowd when the EPA was poisoning the water in Colorado and New Mexico.
OK. Meryl Streep. The thing to remember is that she’s an actor. She makes her living memorizing and delivering lines written for her by other people. She’s not a writer, and she doesn’t do improv.
So – who wrote her lines for her? Someone from Hillary’s camp? How long did she rehearse them? Did she rehearse in front of a mirror to get the facial expressions just the way she wanted them? Did she practice that little voice quiver, trying it out at different places? Did she practice different placements and durations of the pauses? How about her hand gestures?
As virtue signaling performances go, it wasn’t bad, but it didn’t really rise to the level of excellence, now did it? Because she is who she is, on a scale of 1 to 10 she always gets the gentlelady’s 3 just for showing up. So for this, I’d giver her a 4. I mean, she couldn’t even muster up a tear or two?
I saw La La Land. I’d like to see what Miss Stone could do with this script. Next!
Well of course you do dear, but no one cares.Love your voice but care about your politics, not much. Without the new social media no one would even hear your opinions-or care if they did, anymore then they care about mine. Please record a few more songs while you can still hit the notes.
Can we ask Streisand to show her HS diploma and an original copy of a porn movie she allegedly made while a teenager. I think her nose was used in place of a penis with Streep as the recipient. And why is she living in the US? What happened to her promise to leave if DJ Trump won? I´ll pay for a one way economy class ticket to Canada,New Zealand,Antarctica or Jupiter or was that last one from another genius Cher?
Isn´t it lovely to be lectured on morality by a bunch of Hollywood forks who are only actors? Hollywood, a din of sin if I ever saw one. They have no moral compass. They opened their checkbooks to a loser and now their hineys are chapped the Donald won.
Hey did you guys know that George Looney Clooney´s wife(beard) Amal is pregnant. Just like this news the fact that BS agrees with her idiot friend Streep Throat is something I don´t give a screeching RA about.
Animal rights activists claimed a major victory Sunday after Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus said it would halt its show in May after 146 years. The move came as circuses and animal-performance shows across the country have struggled with declining attendance and shifting social pressure brought to bear by activists who argued the animals were sometimes poorly treated. Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus removed elephants from its performances last May, and the company said ticket sales then dropped drastically. The company had long battled animal rights activists in costly court skirmishes — winning a $15.75 million judgment against
Bald eagles have come a long way over the past few decades. During the 20th century, the US national bird´s population dropped dangerously low because of hunting, loss of habitat, and the proliferation of toxic pesticides such as DDT. But various conservation efforts and protections from the Endangered Species Act have helped the national bird rebound from the brink of extinction. But now that the bald eagle is back, some have questioned whether its success could be harmful to other species. In the time since the national bird has rebounded, there have been multiple shifts in its ecosystem, causing it
It wasn’t supposed to end this way for Democrats. Eight years ago, Barack Obama won the presidency promising to transform America. A supremely self-confident politician, Mr. Obama was the object of extravagant hopes that he nurtured and encouraged. After his Super Tuesday primary victories in 2008, Mr. Obama said that the movement he began would “ring out across this land as a hymn that will heal this nation, repair this world, make this time different than all the rest.” He would slow the rise of the oceans, end wars abroad and bridge political divisions at home. For his supporters, Mr. Obama
At a town hall meeting in Ontario on Friday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said that Canada needs to “phase out” the oilsands. He then slipped into the standard save-the-planet gobbledygook about ending “our dependence on fossil fuels.” No details. No timeline. No background info of any kind. Just a pledge to shutdown the biggest industry in Alberta offered up as casually as a quip about the weather. Not surprisingly, this set off a storm in Alberta. In a province where the oil industry is the source of hundreds of thousands of well-paying, middle-class jobs, small businesses, car loans and mortgage payments,
Caitlyn Jenner’s the newest celebrity confirmed on the roster to attend Trump’s inauguration events in Washington, D.C., next weekend. Over the weekend, Jenner uploaded a selfie of herself getting a luxurious 24-karat-gold facial mask in California, right in time for the upcoming gilded festivities to go down in the nation’s capital. Jenner’s attendance to the inauguration has been a divisive discussion for many social and advocacy groups. Many cannot understand how Jenner can support President-elect Donald Trump and his policies while still advocating for transgender and women’s rights. As a refresher, Trump supports the First Amendment Defense Act, which would make it
In his bittersweet farewell address this week, President Obama made a passionate case for both his policy agenda and his civic vision of a nation strengthened by diversity. But his words won’t settle the Democrats’ difficult debate about his political legacy. Through two terms, Obama deepened the Democrats’ connection with a constellation of growing groups, namely minorities, the millennial generation, and college-educated whites, especially women. That coalition allowed him to join the ranks of Andrew Jackson and Franklin Roosevelt, the only Democrats to win a presidential popular-vote majority at least twice. But Obama also narrowed the Democrats’ appeal, both demographically
Chris Cox surveyed a small park near the U.S. Capitol, his German shepherd by his side. Wearing a Harley-Davidson jacket and a crocodile-skin cowboy hat adorned with the animal’s teeth atop his moppy, curly hair, Cox made for a particularly discordant sight in the heart of federal Washington on a misty weekend morning. But Cox had logistics to sort out, an Inauguration Day demonstration with motorcycle die-hards from across the nation to plan. The 48-year-old chain-saw artist from South Carolina was an early and enthusiastic supporter of President-elect Donald Trump. Now that his guy has won, Cox wants to ensure
Women all across America are planning to festoon themselves with knitted, pink “pussy power hats” during a march on Washington, D.C. — and other cities — scheduled for January 21, the day after Donald Trump’s presidential inauguration. The organizers of the Pussyhat Project hope to make “a powerful visual statement” at the Women’s March on Washington by having a large number of women show up wearing the hats. The “pussy power hats,” which feature perky cat-like ears, are a cinch to make, organizers say. “Knitters, crocheters and sewers of all levels” can make the hats at home — preferably with neon pink
A growing number of Democrat lawmakers are boycotting Donald Trump´s inauguration this week, in the wake of his remarks about civil rights campaigner-turned-Representative John Lewis over MLK weekend. There are now 17 Democratic Representatives saying they will spurn Trump´s swearing-in in favor of focusing on their constituents or even taking part in protests and ´resistance´ movements. The uptick in furious members of Congress comes after Trump derided Lewis on Twitter Saturday, saying the lawmaker - who once campaigned alongside Martin Luther King Jr - was ´all talk, no action´. Trump´s criticism came after Lewis´s Friday promise not to attend the
They are some of the biggest names in the Republican national security firmament, veterans of past GOP administrations who say, if called upon by President-elect Donald Trump, they stand ready to serve their country again. But their phones aren’t ringing. Their entreaties to Trump Tower in New York have mostly gone unanswered. In Trump world, these establishment all-stars say they are “PNG” — personae non gratae. Their transgression was signing one or both of two public “Never Trump” letters during the campaign, declaring they would not vote for Trump and calling his candidacy a danger to the nation. One letter,
The biggest news story of the day, apparently, is the dustup between Rep. John Lewis and Donald Trump, about which I wrote this morning. Although the story has little real significance, the Associated Press, the most influential news source in the U.S., spins it furiously to drive its anti-Trump narrative. Start with the headline: “Trump unleashes Twitter attack against civil rights legend.” Most people only read headlines, and this one gives no clue that it was Lewis, not Trump, who started the fight by saying on Meet the Press that Trump will be an illegitimate president. And Lewis is identified
Mr. Garfinkle of Garfinkle’s New Method Hebrew School in Milwaukee used to frequently echo King Solomon’s admonition; “There’s nothing new under the sun.” I was reminded of that this week when the rapidly unfolding “scandal” of Trump’s purported dealings with Russia hit the news. It has more than a few similarities with the Dan Rather faked-up story of GW Bush’s National Guard service where an anonymous, never-found source supposedly gave Bill Burkett a demonstrably fake report and Dan Rather ran with it. This time a Bush (Jeb) is involved but as an instigator of the story, not a victim. John
A growing group of Democratic lawmakers will boycott President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration Friday as a protest of Trump’s worldview and his criticism of civil rights icon John Lewis, congressman of Georgia. There are now more than 30 House Democrats — 31, at last count — who have declared that they will not attend the inauguration on Capitol Hill this week. The number rose sharply after Trump tweeted Saturday that Lewis is “all talk, talk, talk” and should “finally focus on the burning and crime infested inner-cities.” Lewis, who sees Trump’s Nov. 8 win as illegitimate because of Russia’s alleged interference
Protestors are promising to disrupt many of the events surrounding Donald Trump´s inauguration, with some protest leaders promising violence. No venue will be safe from protestors, including the inaugural parade, inaugural balls, and every place in betweeen. Daily Caller: On the day of President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration protesters are planning an anti-capitalist march, road blockades and disruptions to inauguration balls. The protests will likely include property destruction, a source with intimate knowledge of the protest plans told The Daily Caller Friday. The blockades are not limited to roads but will also be at every security checkpoint, the source said. The source added that the
