set on Egypt aid

The White House will hold a Cabinet-level meeting to discuss cutting some of America´s $1.5 billion in aid to Egypt. White House spokesman Josh Earnest confirmed that a National Security Council principles meeting will take place Tuesday. Cabinet members such as Secretary of State John Kerry will participate. Up to now, the administration has insisted that it has taken no final decision on halting aid to Egypt since the military´s July overthrow of Mohammed Morsi´s Muslim Brotherhood-led government and an intensifying crackdown on Islamist opponents. Why? To pretend to be doing something? A leader gets briefed then makes a decision. There´s no need for legal nitpicking. Coup or no coup, choose one. Brotherhood or Army, choose one. I´ll take the Army.

Obama wants to be sure the brotherhood prevails in the end. Remember Obama said he would stand with the Muslims. He must be mad as Hell that Morsi showed his hand too soon. Perhaps Obama will fly over and give some lessons on how to fool enough of the people long enough. He has sure done it here and he’s not nearly finished yet.

This meeting is just "for show". I´ve been reading all over the internet that Obama shut off the aid right after the coup (that is really not a coup). He wants to appear deliberative and thoughtful. Watch his other hand.

Also on the internet I´ve read that he gave $8 billion to Morsi right after Morsi´s election. That won´t appear on any balance sheet; sort of like all the money given to his pals in the green energy companies.

There hasn´t been a gathering like that since 1965 - - when Stanley Kramer directed "The Ship Of Fools." It´s taken 48 years - - but history always repeats itself.

I´m a little worried about this.

At first glance ´bam´s policies here seem outright absurd: he´s sucked up to the Arabs since gaining office, but now he defies them. They, on the other hand have openly joined with Israel in supporting the Egyptian government. I gather that ´bam has never liked Egypt´s military, since they are the most Western-minded institution in that country. I´m sure the contempt is mutual.

I don´t know which of these came first-- ´bam´s turning on the Saudis or the Saudis´ standing with Israel-- but my guess is that ´bam feels he´s been dissed.

What we have I fear, is a little half-man, devoid of moral compunction or intellect, but in procession of unprecedented military power, supported by an army of similarly stunted toadies, outraged over a slight. To him, a slight is betrayal, an injury.

We may indeed have a problem.

And how many attendees will be members of the Muslim Brotherhood? After stocking all his cabinet staff with so many Mo Bro´s, it is impossible to reach any conclusion other than continuing to support the murderous invasions.

Okay Obe that´s a great idea.

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT RUSH: I´ve gotta tell, another little thing about Nelson Mandela. Do you realize in a couple of ways, maybe even more than a couple, Nelson Mandela has more in common or had more in common with Clarence Thomas than he does with Barack Obama? For example, Nelson Mandela (even prior to becoming president, but certainly after he became president of South Africa) insisted on compliance with his country´s constitution. He insisted on it. Obama looks at the US Constitution as an obstacle and makes end runs around it every day, practically. In that sense... These are the kind of

RUSH: Let me give you what is, I think, one of the most amazing things I ever heard Nelson Mandela say. We had fun with Mandela when he was in New York, when he came to New York and went to Yankees Stadium. But I´ll tell you, there are very few people that could have undergone what he went through and maintained any sense of dignity or optimism.(Snip) "Resentment is like drinking poison and then hoping it will kill your enemies." Is that not great? And it´s great because it´s exactly right. Resentment doesn´t do anybody any good.

The U.S. federal health insurance website HealthCare.gov, which has had technology problems since its October 1 launch, is now experiencing errors in transmitting applications about 10 percent of the time, a government spokeswoman said on Friday. The online insurance marketplace relays information about new customers in ´834´ transaction forms to the private insurance companies that provide the health plans. HealthCare.gov serves people in 36 states, while 14 states are running their own websites. "We believe nine of 10 transactions are being successfully transmitted," the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, or CMS, spokeswoman Julie Bataille said at a news briefing.

Washington — Thad Cochran, a Mississippi Republican who was first elected to the Senate in 1978, set up a generational and ideological clash in the state’s Republican primary when he announced Friday that he would seek a seventh term in 2014. While Mr. Cochran, who turns 76 on Saturday, has the support of many leading Republicans in the state, he is already facing opposition from Chris McDaniel, 41, a state senator aligned with the Tea Party who announced his candidacy in October and has won the support of some conservative groups. Rep. James Sensenbrenner Jr., the original author of the Patriot Act, says Director of National Intelligence James Clapper should be prosecuted for lying to Congress. "Lying to Congress is a federal offense, and Clapper ought to be fired and prosecuted for it," the Wisconsin Republican said in an interview with The Hill. He said the Justice Department should prosecute Clapper for giving false testimony during a Senate Intelligence Committee hearing in March. During that hearing, Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) asked Clapper whether the National Security Agency (NSA) collects data on millions of Americans. Clapper insisted that the NSA does not

Washington - President Barack Obama on Thursday defended his nuclear diplomacy with Iran before an audience of Israeli diplomats and senior members of the US Jewish community and officials. At a White House Hanukkah reception, Obama said that it was important for the United States to test Iran´s intentions, and pledged to keep working for a comprehensive deal to deprive Tehran of a nuclear weapon. "For the first time in a decade we have halted progress of Iran´s nuclear program," Obama said. "Key parts of the program will be rolled back even though the toughest of our sanctions remain in

Less than a minute into his speech at the Boston marathon bombing memorial on Tuesday, Vice President Joe Biden went tragically off script and told the crowd of Boston bombing survivors that "it was worth it." After expressing how impressed he was with the tribute, he said somberly, "let me say to those ´quote survivors,´ my God, you have survived and you have soared. It was worth it. I mean this sincerely - just to hear each of you speak. You´re truly, truly inspiring." The audience sat in stunned silence until Biden declared, "I´ve never heard anything so beautiful than

Casual marijuana use may come with some not-so-casual side effects. For the first time ever, researchers at Northwestern University have analyzed the relationship between casual use of marijuana and brain changes – and found that young adults who used cannabis just once or twice a week showed significant abnormalities in two important brain structures. The study’s findings, to be published Wednesday in the Journal of Neuroscience, are similar to those of past research linking chronic, long-term marijuana use with mental illness and changes in brain development. Dr. Hans Breiter, co-senior study author, said he was inspired to look at the effects of casual

Look, everyone loves Sean Connery, particularly Sean Connery. That’s why he plays Sean Connery in every movie he’s in. People love that Scottish brogue so much, they don’t mind that he has it when he plays Juan Sánchez Villa-Lobos Ramírez, an immortal Spaniard in Highlander. The guy even won an Oscar for playing an Irish cop with a Scottish accent. Talk about sexist double standards: Meryl Streep has to master foreign dialects to get her golden statuettes. Connery just has to show up on time. In economics you devalue a currency by printing too much of it. In film you

When it comes to tracking the cost of Obama family vacations, there are two primary challenges. First, the Obamas are prolific jet-setters, so there are many details to track. Second, the Obama administration, clearly embarrassed by these lavish and frequent family vacations, stonewalls the release of records at every turn. But we have been relentless in pursuit of this information. Our attorneys file the lawsuits and make our case, and our investigators pour through pages of records and crunch the numbers. And the information we’ve uncovered – information that would otherwise remain under lock and key – shows that the

Toddlers show racial bias when picking playmates, a study reveals. They also take account of how fairly others behave. Researchers tested the reaction of white 15-month-olds as toys were distributed. Two white adults divided the toys, one equally and the other unequally. Seventy per cent of the toddlers chose to play with the researcher who distributed the toys fairly. But in a second test, when one researcher favoured a white recipient over an Asian one, they picked the ‘fair’ researcher less often, the journal Frontiers in Psychology reports. And the babies are more likely to help those who share the same ethnicity, which is known as

I live in Las Vegas. I live and breath Nevada politics. Something is very wrong. Something smells rotten in the Nevada desert. And Senator Harry Reid’s fingerprints are all over it. I am of course referring to the Bundy Ranch siege. This was a dispute between a Nevada ranching family with rights to the land in question for 140 years and the BLM (Bureayu of Land Management). The government claims they haven’t paid grazing fees for 20 years. The result was a government assault on the ranch- including snipers with assault rifles, SUV’s, helicopters, airplanes and over 200 heavily armed troops. No
