State asks insurers:
Are you ready for climate change?

Minneapolis StarTribune, by BILL MCAULIFFE

Original Article

Minnesota has joined four other states in requiring its insurance companies to discuss how extensively they’ve prepared for climate change. About 70 companies have until Aug. 31 to respond to an eight-question survey. The questionnaire, developed by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), focuses on the assessment of risk associated with climate change. However, it also seeks information on whether insurance companies are working to reduce their own greenhouse gas emissions, have altered their investment strategies in response to climate change, or have encouraged policyholders to reduce losses caused by “climate change-influenced events.”

A good sized branch fell off a tree in my yard yesterday. Can I get my insurance company to pay for trimming the tree, as it was probably caused by climate change?

A non profit called Ceres "helped develop this" survey, which is a left wing center for global warming propaganda and "sustainability," as if they know anything about sustainability compared to the property and casualty insurance industry . Look who´s co-chair of Ceres: Anne Stausboll, the Chief Executive Officer of the California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) in January 2009. Yes, they know so much about sustainability. This is an example of the way the Left gets its way; they form organizations that call themselves experts, and then the MSM picks their propaganda up and reports it as if it´s a mathematical equation that is irrefutable. And low info continues on its stupid, but successful path of swaying the sheep.

First you start with a premise built on falsified, fake biased data administered by a left-wing, statist, progressive organization, CERES to increase the cost of business beyond reason so as to bankrupt the businesses and the state so the business cannot function.
Mission accomplished. Business destroyed, more folks get financial relief from the government.

Get the little people to scream about higher rates due to climate change and maybe they´ll forget they have no jobs and are losing their homes.

The government doesn´t like competition. They are driving insurance companies out of the medical business, it is only natural that the government wants to set up a Global Warming argument so they can "protect" the little guy from invented trouble! In my book that´s called a protection racket!

Insurance companies don´t have to do business in any particular State. Perhaps they should all just "go on strike?"

This is the stupidest thing I´ve ever heard about. Insurance companies having to reduce their greenhouse emissions? How do they do that other than firing everybody for breathing on CO2 and shutting down every computer so they don´t use electricity. This is nothing more than a ploy to decrease insurance provisions and charge more for a policy.

Minnesota billionaire Glen Taylor has made a formal offer to acquire the Star Tribune, a purchase that would add the state’s largest media company to his diverse business empire. Taylor said in an interview Tuesday that he has made a cash offer as an individual without any other investors. He declined to say how much he would pay, but he emphasized that the Star Tribune is the only media company he is pursuing. “I’m interested in this one because it’s a Minnesota paper,” Taylor said.

Her boyfriend Matthew Vincent Serbus once lived in St. Paul and had a long criminal record for theft, robbery and drugs. Now, Pfister’s family and friends are searching for answers about how and why the couple died of gunshot wounds after leading police on a high-speed chase on Hwy. 212 from Chaska to Eden Prairie on Friday morning. The Hennepin County medical examiner’s office identified the two Saturday. Officials have not released many details about the incident or explained what prompted police to open fire.

In a radio interview last week, Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) made some disparaging comments about pro-life conservatives, stating they had “no place in the state of New York because that’s not who New Yorkers are.” Those remarks drew the ire of conservative talk show host Sean Hannity, who on his Monday radio program declared he had enough and was abandoning his home state, where he hosts his widely syndicated radio show and his high-rated Fox News Channel television program.

Thirteen people were injured, six critically, early Wednesday moirning after an explosion caused a major fire at a grocery store and apartment building on Cedar Ave. in south Minneapolis. No cause has been identified as of yet, said Greg Nelson, supervisor of the Minneapolis Emergency Communications Center, but the building that housed the West Bank Grocery and a mosque is likely a total loss. A police squad car reported the fire at around 8:16 a.m. after seeing the explosion and seeing debris on the street, he said. Flames were shooting 20 feet from the building, officials said. The second and third floor later collapsed. The injured were transported to Hennepin County Medical Center and Univesity Hospital.

Federal authorities have obtained confidential documents that shed new light on JPMorgan Chase´s decision to hire the children of China´s ruling elite, securing emails that show how the bank linked one prominent hire to "existing and potential business opportunities" from a Chinese government-run company. The documents, which also include spreadsheets that list the bank´s "track record" for converting hires into business deals, offer the most detailed account yet of JPMorgan´s "Sons and Daughters" hiring program, which has been at the center of a federal bribery investigation for months.

Neurosurgeon Ben Carson says the White House wanted him to apologize for “offending” President Obama after he famously delivered a conservative message at the National Prayer Breakfast last year. Carson, the former director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital, recalls the events surrounding his 2013 speech in his new book, One Nation: What We Can All Do To Save America’s Future. The Daily Caller obtained an advance copy of the book, which is set for release May 20. “He did not appear to be hostile or angry,” Carson writes of Obama, “but within a matter of minutes after the conclusion of

President Obama inspired a generation of young people to support his historic election in 2008. And in 2012, despite the struggles of his first term, Mr. Obama still managed to win the support of a full 60% of voters age 18-29. But the man who once dreamed of being a transformative leader in the Reagan mold is inspiring few of those young people to follow his lead. "For all the talk about the movement that elected Mr. Obama, the more notable movement of Obama supporters has been away from politics. It appears that few of the young people who voted

Megyn Kelly’s "Kelly File" is a great news show. She’s incisive, informed and customarily handles the toughest guest with aplomb. But her lengthy interview of Facebook C.O.O. Sheryl Sandberg about her second book in the Lean In series Lean In: For Graduates was a head shaker. Amazing that she of all people allowed Sandberg to restring the same old, same old, shamed, and shopworn feminist myths about women and girls and then jangle it in front of her viewing audience like something new out of the box. Indeed Kelly all but genuflected in front of this woman. Kept her on thru

On Saturday, I wrote about the standoff at Bundy Ranch. That post drew a remarkable amount of traffic, even though, as I wrote then, I had not quite decided what to make of the story. Since then, I have continued to study the facts and have drawn some conclusions. Here they are. First, it must be admitted that legally, Bundy doesn’t have a leg to stand on. The Bureau of Land Management has been charging him grazing fees since the early 1990s, which he has refused to pay. Further, BLM has issued orders limiting the area on which Bundy’s cows can

Although the Civil Rights Act, the landmark legislation which just reached its 50th anniversary, made great strides in desegregating the economy, economic discrimination is still widespread, and anti-discrimination legislation alone can never rectify the economic damage inflicted upon blacks by slavery and our Jim Crow apartheid regime. The Civil Rights Act was a mild reform, all things considered, but one conservatives fought with vigor and one many conservatives are still bitter about to this day. When the Civil Rights Act passed in 1964, the primary purpose was to root out discrimination in public accommodations (like hotels and movie theaters)

Less than a minute into his speech at the Boston marathon bombing memorial on Tuesday, Vice President Joe Biden went tragically off script and told the crowd of Boston bombing survivors that "it was worth it." After expressing how impressed he was with the tribute, he said somberly, "let me say to those ´quote survivors,´ my God, you have survived and you have soared. It was worth it. I mean this sincerely - just to hear each of you speak. You´re truly, truly inspiring." The audience sat in stunned silence until Biden declared, "I´ve never heard anything so beautiful than

Toddlers show racial bias when picking playmates, a study reveals. They also take account of how fairly others behave. Researchers tested the reaction of white 15-month-olds as toys were distributed. Two white adults divided the toys, one equally and the other unequally. Seventy per cent of the toddlers chose to play with the researcher who distributed the toys fairly. But in a second test, when one researcher favoured a white recipient over an Asian one, they picked the ‘fair’ researcher less often, the journal Frontiers in Psychology reports. And the babies are more likely to help those who share the same ethnicity, which is known as
