The dam protecting the IRS scandal began to crack today when Lois Lerner, the IRS official who announced, and apologized for, the improper singling out of conservative-leaning organizations by IRS employees under her command, announced through her criminal defense lawyer that she will not testify as scheduled tomorrow before the House Oversight Committee. Rather, she will assert her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination. This marks an enormous milestone in the IRS investigation. It can now be taken as more or less established that crimes were committed by Obama administration employees. Lerner’s lawyer tried to minimize the significance
"It can now be taken as more or less established that crimes were committed by Obama administration employees"
Yes, well. Now and since Dear Leader breached his oath of office early in his first term. No legitimate American president would ever appoint communists to his administration and no legitimate employee would ever stand for it. They have been out to silence opposition from day 1, and the only question was how. Exploiting and colluding with a corrupt "press corps" to cover-up misdeeds is not a crime? Obama´s dam was always cracked.
Lois Lerner is an America-hating lunatic who bears all the hallmarks of a totalitarian Communist. She was demanding answers about the content of PRAYERS? She was suggesting that prayer is an impermissable political activity? Where was this piece of excrement raised, in the Soviet Union?
What is really scary is that Lois Lerner has been working for the government since before 1986. A Weekly Standard article by Mark Hemingway notes that it was in 1986 that she was made head of the Enforcement Office at the Federal Election Commission (FEC). It was her division that went after the Christian Coalition. I wonder what her background is - somebody noted that her husband is part of a big law firm. Is she a lawyer? For sure she is a wanna be communist.
Nixon may have had his plumbers, but Obama will be remembered for his termites. He´s like the queen termite infesting every nook and cranny of our government with leftist termites gnawing away at the very foundations of our country. We´re going to need a top to bottom Terminix treatment to rid us of this infestation after he´s gone.
"A Crack in the Dam IRS" Better? It´s tough to get sympathy from those who have been abused for decades. Obama´s intention to use the IRS for his collection squad for his health scam just suffered a huge setback.
Her strategy of taking the 5th is not a sound one. The House Committee can give her full immunity and then insist that she testify or be held in contempt of Congress. And if she is later found to have been less than truthful, Congress can rescind her immunity and charge her with the crimes she committed/aided as well as perjury.
Of course, Congress has th have the bells to do this. She would have been better off to use the Hillary Defense Strategy--"I don´t recall..I can´t remember...Not that I can remember"
A conservative resurgence would be so easy in light of these scandals and our new found energy independence. The agenda should be:
1. Toss out the current tax code and simplify the process to eliminate the need for the IRS. 2. Repeal Obamacare 3. Drill baby drill. We are awash in oil and natural gas to the point that we can become energy independent and drive down the price of energy for everyone. Once this is achieved we can change our entire foreign policy towards the Middle East. 4. Reduce the size and scope of government in general because of widespread corruption.
We would have an economic explosion from this simple agenda.
This all goes back to one thing - stealing the election. At the same time that democrats were squealing about voter disenfranchisement due to photo IDs, they were systematically denying millions upon millions of conservatives their right to be part of the political process.
It´s a tragedy that there is no constitutional authority for declaring an election null and void. In a sane and just world, we would be throwing zippy and bite-me under the prison at Levenworth and inaugurating President Romney.
Just as the aftermath of 9/11/01 was the perfect time to seal the borders and disallow student visas for "students" from islamist nations, this is the perfect time to push for elimination of the IRS and for the institution of a flat or fair tax. But if 3,000 murdered Americans was not enough to move Congress to protect our citizens from terrorists, I guess there will not be any effort to protect us from government intimidators and criminals undermining our system of law.
She´s an employee of the federal government who is taking the 5th on answering questions on how she performed her official government job, really??? There´s a few conservatives who work for the federal government (and suffer in silence), but the overwhelming mass of federal workers are demcorats and for many of them in the DC area would be lucky to have a job as a greeter at a local Walmart (if they lived anywhere else) but that they have access to the bulk of the federal buraucracy right here. For many, it´s the ultimate in welfare - good paying federal jobs requiring little to no skills and if you are a peson of color - even better - no one messes with you regardless of your incompetence.
One last point - "funny" how the survivors of the Benghazi attack are being threatened not to speak out and yet, Ms. Lerner, doesn´t want to speak out...
Yeah - the most open and transparent Administration ever hahahaha
Fine, let her take the fifth, then grant her immunity on the spot. Now, with no self incrimination threat hanging over her head she should be free to talk. If she doesn´t, we know it´s Marcy Park, not prison she´s afraid of.
It is just a small change up for and obamanite to think that she can´t lie her way out. Must be something out there that would prove the lie. Getting to that something would be amazing if it can be found.
Watching the hearing on Fox: Lerner was just dismissed by Issa. Lerner made a fully self-serving opening statement, then took the Fifth. Said she would answer ANY questions. Gowdy was enraged and demanded that she had waived the Fifth by making an opening statement. Issa tried to get her to agree to certain questions; she refused and he dismissed her again. WOW! Now it will probably move into a Courtroom.
One last comment. What I want to know and so far no one has asked of any of the IRS senioir leadeship is: did anyone at any level from GS-5 to an SES say: Whoa, wait a minute - you (whovever that might be) want me/us to single out these specific groups? Why? Who´s telling you? this doesn´t look right.
Lerner is not a citizen. She´s a government employee acting as a suspicious mafia thug. She takes the fifth on the advice of her CRIMINAL LAWYER. Talk about criminal chutzpah. And good old soft pedal Issa did not ask her a dozen questions to force her to take the fifth a bunch of times, like in any good crime movie. Taking the fifth ten or more times at least gives us drama that can be replayed over and over again to show her protected status to all of America. She is a disgrace and Issa let her off the hook in what will be remembered by lo-fo´s as a non event. No drama. Where was Joe McCarthy when we needed him? Where was an Ike or a Ronnie when we needed a real American? In our government, it looks like the commie bad guys have the strength, and the good Issa guys are absolutely not strong, not clearly forceful representing all lawful citizens.
There is an article on Drudge today that traces the dots back from Cincinnatti to Washington. All six of the so called culprit IRS agents in Cincinnatti have a different supervisor. There are rules about how much time they have to work on a case. Some of these Tea Party cases are three years old. By law the IRS agents had to report several times and red flags would be flying. The one common link between these agents is a supervisor in Washington named Cindy Thomas.
It came out today that the IRS commissioner went around the chain of command and went to the White House on 118 occasions. Three times he met with Obama but couldn´t remember what exactly they talked about. It was funny but he had trouble remembering much about any of the other visits as well. He did remember being there for the Easter egg roll though. It´s going to be a long hot summer in DC.
ok - it is time to ask Jay Carney - when did Valerie Jarrett know about the IRS investigation .....
.... I find it unbelievable that everyone doesn´t realize that nothing gets to Bambi without going through Jarrett....she is there to insulate him from everything she tells him EVERYTHING but this is the way it has been set up so he can say "he knew nothing until he read it in the paper"
There´s no election this year, and the campaign season for 2014 won´t heat up for one year, by which time all this will be forgotten." So this is being orchestrated. They could release the kitchen sink, and it´ll be forgotten by the midterm elections. Rush Limbaugh today:
´The idea... Well, as I said yesterday: The country will not sit for the removal of the first black president. It isn´t gonna happen. It just isn´t gonna happen. If you´ve got hopes and dreams of impeachment and a conviction and sayonara, that´s not gonna happen.´
President Obama’s brain trust on Afghanistan does not know much the U.S. spends on the war each year or the American cost in lost lives on the battlefield. This embarrassing lack of basic knowledge from State Department and Pentagon experts on Afghanistan at a House hearing Wednesday prompted even a Democrat to say he was stunned. The setting was the House Foreign Affairs Committee. The Issue: Afghanistan and the transition to fewer U.S. troops post-2014. The witnesses: James F. Dobbins, State’s special representative to Afghanistan and Pakistan; Donald Sampler, assistant to the administrator, U.S. Agency for International Development, which provides
By clearing the decks of the bipartisan budget deal, some political observers say, the GOP establishment is banking on the idea that giving up ground in the spending battle now will pay off over the long run by allowing Republicans to avoid getting punished for another government shutdown. According to this scenario, if there’s no government shutdown, Republicans can focus on the 2014 congressional elections and bank on the growing opposition to Obamacare to strengthen their numbers on Capitol Hill. In the best case, they could add the Senate to their control of the House and be in a better
In explaining the disastrous rollout of Obamacare, President Obama told Chris Matthews he had discovered that “we have these big agencies, some of which are outdated, some of which are not designed properly.” An interesting discovery to make after having consigned the vast universe of American medicine, one-sixth of the U.S. economy, to the tender mercies of the agency bureaucrats at the Department of Health and Human Services and the Internal Revenue Service. Most people become aware of the hopeless inefficiency of sclerotic government by, oh, age 17 at the department of motor vehicles. Obama’s late discovery is
Tea party groups and fiscal conservatives wasted no time Wednesday in savaging a bipartisan budget agreement negotiated between House Republicans and Senate Democrats, drawing an unusually angry response from House Speaker John A. Boehner, Ohio Republican. All sides were rating the winners and losers in the deal struck a day earlier between House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan, Wisconsin Republican, and Senate Budget Committee Chairwoman Patty Murray, Washington Democrat. The modest deficit-cutting deal had some sweeteners for defense contractors and oil drillers, while air travelers, federal workers and some corporate executives would take a hit.
The White House blasted Republicans on Wednesday for criticizing President Obama’s decision to shake hands with Cuban leader Raul Castro. “There used to be a pretty important principle, that originated in the Republican Party, I believe, that partisan politics should stop at the water’s edge,” said White House deputy press secretary Joshua Earnest. “It’s unfortunate that we did see a number of Republicans yesterday who criticized the president for a handshake.” Mr. Obama shook hands with Mr. Castro on stage in South Africa at the memorial service for Nelson Mandela on Tuesday. The U.S. does not have diplomatic relations with
FAIRPORT HARBOR, Ohio — It doesn’t take long to realize that Jim Majoros is passionate about his job, as he ponders the hue of a new hunting rifle he’s working on. “I’m going to call it ‘Persephone,’ ” he said, referring to the Greek goddess. “It’s going to be light green in color, you know, more soft, but for women who want to hunt.” Business is brisk for gunsmiths such as Majoros, who repairs and customizes firearms in this small Lake Erie beach town east of Cleveland. This year, more than 82,000 new concealed-carry weapons licenses were issued in Ohio
House Republicans appeared Wednesday to be rallying around an $85 billion deal to avert another government shutdown, brushing off complaints from their right wing that the effort would trade immediate spending cuts for less-certain long-term savings. After conducting a series of closed-door briefings and polling members during a late-afternoon vote, GOP leadership aides confidently predicted that the deal struck between House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and Senate Budget Committee Chairman Patty Murray (D-Wash.) would sail through the House when it comes to a vote Thursday. The moment seemed to mark a potentially significant shift by House Republicans away
New York — The anchor who might beat Bill O’Reilly gets her eyelash extensions applied one at a time, with tweezers and dabs of glue, about 90 minutes before showtime, right after a motorized gun sprays foundation over her face, neck, shoulders, collarbone and sternum, wiping out a galaxy of light freckles that spreads across her — Let me stop you right there. Photos of the day Uruguay legalizes marijuana, Kiev police pull back from protesters, aging U.S. prison population and more. Tuesday´s Photos of the day Would you write this way about a man? About O’Reilly himself? At least that’s what Megyn Kelly might ask at
In August 2013 I became very sick with what I thought was a cold. After a few days I lost vision in my left eye and I checked into the hospital. I soon found out that what I thought was a summer cold was actually Strep bacteria poisoning my blood stream. The bacteria blinded my left eye, ate a hole through my heart, caused five strokes on both sides of my brain and forced the removal of my prosthetic left knee. Dr. Lee was the surgeon assigned to perform open heart surgery. What was originally scheduled to last four hours ended
The health director who approved the release of President Obama’s birth certificate has died in a plane crash, Hawaiian officials said Thursday. Loretta Fuddy died after the Cessna Grand Caravan aircraft she was travelling on went down shortly after leaving Kalaupapa Airport at around 3:15 p.m. local time (10:15 a.m. ET) on Wednesday. The other eight people on board were rescued, Richard Schuman, president of Makani Kai Air, told NBC News early Thursday, adding that that there was no indication as to why the plane had crashed. Fuddy hit the headlines two years ago when she approved a waiver request allowing Obama to
Fox News host Megyn Kelly has made herself the center of a racial controversy by declaring that Jesus Christ and Santa Claus are white. On Wednesday night, Kelly was responding to an article by Slate writer Aisha Harris, who wrote an article entitled “ Santa Claus Should Not Be a White Man Anymore .” The popular news host told viewers of “The Kelly File,” her hit FNC program, “When I saw this headline, I kinda laughed and I said, ‘Oh, this is ridiculous. Yet another person claiming it´s racist to have a white Santa.’ And by the way, for all you kids
Views of the tea party are at all-time lows in a new poll, as primary challenges to establishment Republicans continue to heat up Washington. Just 30 percent of Americans view the tea party favorably in a new Gallup poll released Wednesday, the movement’s lowest point since Gallup began polling about it during its rise in 2010. Also in a first, a majority of Americans had an unfavorable view of the tea party, at 51 percent. Similar numbers of respondents described themselves as proponents or opponents of the tea party: Twenty-two percent identified themselves as tea party supporters, while 24 percent said they
WASHINGTON – It’s not exactly a ringing endorsement of the budget deal.“Embrace the suck,” House minority leader Rep. Nancy Pelosi told fellow Democrats Thursday morning, a source told Politico.“We need to get this off the table so we can go forward,” she added. It’s a way of telling her colleagues the budget deal negotiated with Republicans is the best they can get. Democrats are fuming that the bipartisan budget deal doesn’t extend unemployment benefits for more than a million Americans. One of Pelosi’s top lieutenants, Rep. Chris Van Hollen, the top Democrat on the House Budget Committee, said Thursday it
Columnist Charles Krauthammer attacked new Obamacare rules unveiled by HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius in a late Thursday conference call, saying the Obama administration is “approach[ing] banana republic lawlessness” by issuing the decrees. Krauthammer spoke with Fox News’ Bret Baier on a panel with Juan Williams and Judge Andrew Napolitano, as the three reacted to Sebelius’ new directives for insurance companies. “This is exactly a reaction to a deep understanding among Democrats that [Obamacare] is a train wreck,” he said. “And it’s a panic reaction. As the judge said, this is utterly lawless. This now approaches banana republic lawlessness.
