A Stirring Send-Off For

After all the controversy – it was too much, and too expensive; it would be marred by protests – this morning’s funeral for Lady Thatcher in London was a splendid and memorable affair, which did her memory, and her country, proud. It was a moving, dignified and pitch-perfect occasion: unmistakably British, and a fitting send-off for the country’s greatest post-war prime minister. Big Ben fell silent – for the first time since the funeral of wartime leader Winston Churchill – and tens of thousands of admirers lined the streets to applaud Lady Thatcher’s coffin

The article reports that the granddaughter has a Texas accent. This Texan believes that if Baroness Thatcher would have chosen a place in America for her granddaughter, it would have been Texas. The spirits are similar. About 20 years hence, a Governor Thatcher might be nice.

Obama is an anti-colonialist, even though colonialism has helped about every country that started as a colony, especially of Great Britain.

So, its no wonder Obama, Mooch, and the Moochettes didn´t take a vacation to Europe disguised as a trip to The Iron Lady´s funeral. They weren´t missed, and the proceedings were the better for them not being there!

I just watched it on-line. What a moving, inspirational funeral and so properly done for a great lady.
May she rest in peace!

P.S. I noticed Dick and Lynne Cheney were in one of the front rows just past the 40-minute point in the version I saw. Very low key, nice touch!

I thought it was a beautiful service and it only would have been marred by the presence of that piece of ´human´ excrement currently defiling the White House.

As to the author´s reference to Amanda Thatcher´s soft Texas accent, I listened to her reading twice...Maybe my ears are going bad but what I heard was a generally neutral American accent and the young lady was being very precise in her enunciations. I thought she did an admirable job and handled herself very well.

A beautiful, dignified, precisely punctual funeral as only the British can produce. It was wonderful that neither the Obama or Biden families were there. Vice-President and Mrs. Cheney were there along with other great Americans and their presence represented America perfectly with respect, honor, and grace.

Did you hear the bamster shaming Americans because WE didn´t pass HIS gun law? It´s called the Constitution -- loser.....

He sounded like a wounded child who didn´t get HIS way... I expected him to stamp his feet and shake his finger at US. A lot like bubba clinton when he raised his bony finger and lied through his teeth, -- "I´m gonna say this one more time -- I did not have sex with that woman"....
Yeah -- right -- you loser.....

What a joke!!

Conversely -- the Iron Lady got exactly what she deserved, praise and honor and a glorious send/off. Even the Queen and Prince Philip came to send her off.

So -- OUR loser snubbed the "Lady". No one cares....

The truth is, the people handling The Iron Lady´s funeral wouldn´t allow tele-prompters, hoop shooting, practice putting greens and ´shout outs´ during the ceremony.

If the facts were truly published, Zero and the Mooch feel completely inadequate when surrounded by talented and classy people (which doesn´t include the Hollywood crowd who are gutter people). Therefore they decided to vote not-present.

FTA: In what was seen as a snub both to Lady Thatcher’s memory and Britain’s present Conservative-led government, President Obama declined to send a high-level representative.

Thankfully, the mean pettiness of the current POTUS served as a blessing for all who love and revere the memory of this wonderful lady and all that her good life meant to the world.
Remember what Joseph said to his brothers in Genesis 50:20?
("As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good...")

Their presence would have marred a beautiful tribute. Those of us Americans who love the Brits and Great Britain were there in spirit. We were represented much better by those Americans who were mentioned as being there to honor her memory.

I very much enjoyed watching the funeral live in the wee hours of Wednesday morning. Of course, I was saddened by the death of Mrs. Thatcher. Yet the funeral bolstered my faith in Jesus Christ and the promise that the dead in Christ shall rise on the Last Day.

This hymn text, sung during the service, has been running through my head non-stop since the funeral. It is a great Anglican/Episcopal hymn we sing from time to time in my parish:

He who would valiant be ´gainst all disaster,
Let him in constancy follow the Master.
There´s no discouragement shall make him once relent
His first avowed intent to be a pilgrim.

Another line: "No foes shall stay his might; though he with giants fight,
He will make good his right to be a pilgrim."

You have to know that History will treat him badly, In spite of the Liberal re-write of history. His hearse will be a flat bed truck with a Dempsey Dumpster for a coffin.

Long-term unemployed struggle

For the long-term unemployed, finding a job is hard — but keeping one may be even harder. New research tracking people who have been out of work for six months or longer found that 23 percent of them landed a job within a few months of the study. But a year later, more than a third of that group was unemployed again or out of the labor force altogether. The findings are the latest in a bleak but growing body of literature suggesting long-term unemployment has become a trap that is difficult to escape. Economists say that means the long-term unemployed could become a permanent underclass, left behind by the nation’s broader

The Social Security Administration announced Monday that it will immediately cease efforts to collect on taxpayers’ debts to the government that are more than 10 years old. The action comes after The Washington Post reported that the government was seizing state and federal tax refunds that were on their way to about 400,000 Americans who had relatives who owed money to Social Security. In many cases, the people whose refunds were intercepted had never heard of any debt, and the debts dated as far back as the middle of the past century. “I have directed an immediate halt to further

Democrats have had a recurring problem in special elections this year: Their voters aren’t turning out. If a weak economy and continued Obamacare problems persist, the November elections could be a disaster for Democrats. Last week, Democrats lost two special elections they weren’t planning to. Arlington, Va., is a classic wealthy ObamaTown, filled with government workers and limousine liberals. Mitt Romney won only 29 percent of the vote in 2012. But last Tuesday, Democrats lost their first election for the five-member Arlington County Board in 15 years when John Vihstadt, a Republican running as an independent, won a vacancy on

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said little as federal agents seized and then released cattle last week from the Bundy ranch, but there is little doubt that the highly charged episode was threatening to become a political headache for the Nevada Democrat. On the defensive about their prospects in the midterm elections this fall, congressional Democrats have spent all of April savaging the Republican budget proposal, decrying the Koch brothers and championing a series of bills meant to ingratiate themselves to struggling middle-class voters. In promoting legislation that would extend unemployment benefits, increase the minimum wage and promote equal pay for women, the Democrats have declared themselves the party that will ensure a “fair shot” for all. Several elements of his comments were misleading: (1) At first blush, the 35 percent stat is both significant and impressive. As recently as last month, the share of "young invincibles" signing up for plans was struggling in the 25 percent range, far short of the actuarial target of nearly 40 percent. The White House is going to war with another fox — and this time, it’s personal. The Wall Street Journal reports that a red fox has been causing chaos around the White House, tripping security alarms, digging up Michelle’s garden and distracting the president from his duties. The Secret Service won’t give any details about how often the fox trips the White House’s obviously sophisticated security alarms, but rest assured, officials say, they’re watching. President Obama was apparently “stunned” to see the fox roaming freely down the oft-photographed White House colonnade, home to the world’s shortest, but most dramatic, outdoor strolls.
